Usefull lost threads on this forum  "It would be nice to have more sticky posts"

I noticed that there is only one sticky post on this section of the forum and that they are a lot of usefull posts that maybe if they were in the front, lot of people would use that threads instead of opening new one. I think it's good to have a place were you can find things easily, so I've found some interesting topics that for me could be sticky posts (or at least this post could be sticky, pointing to the other posts). Here is the list of usefull topics I've found, feel free to add more if you want, the objective is to have a place where we can find the information with ease intead of browsing throught the pages, which is a task can require a lot of time depending on what you are looking for.

This thread is a great idea. Thank you for pulling these old threads out of the abyss. Hopefully we can get some new mappers coming into the Duke community now that we have some additional porting options out there being worked on.

Damn, I haven't seen some of these threads for quite some time. Thanks for taking the time to do this, but why are the mods sleeping on putting a sticky mark on important posts? There shouldn't just be one single sticky post here when this category is one of the more important ones that can keep this community going when we are all gone.

Anyways, what you're doing here is a good idea. I really miss how much more active this place was prior, on, and shortly after 2014. So many useful posts and remarks from the community, and then around that time Fresch made his notorious "beta gold" post, it seems soon after that this whole forum slowed down quicker and quicker to the point it is at now, and according to Mikko Sandt's website, there were only 11 Duke maps made in 2019. Now compare that to all the years prior (scroll down to the December 31, 2019 news). I'm not blaming that thread, but it is my observation that after that thread died down, the forum became less active while the discord seems to be becoming more active, but even it doesn't seem to be as active as it could be.

If there was a way to archive Discord posts as well, that could be useful too seeing as there's some tutorials and information hidden all over the discord. and some of that info has never reached the forum most likely.

I did this just because I like to have a place that points me were to go, as there was a lot of spread information started to do it on my own on a txt file but then I thought I could share this because it might be usefull to other people having an index for information.

I totally agree with your Discord point, it seems that with the pass of time Discord servers are becoming more popular than forums, not only with Duke Nukem Forums, but in general.

Fantastic initiative, I'm completely supportive of this. I don't use Discord for anything, probably never will because I'm set in my old ways and not available enough to partake more than semi-casually, so it never even occurred to me that I might be missing out on content and info there, but public websites and message boards remain a crucial point of reference and popular crossroads for people with similar interests. Drowning in work these days (yearning for some spare time actually) but I've had it on my mind to post (humble) "Build Porn"-type of tricks and share habits for a while now. Probably will once I can manage.

You're putting your spare time to constructive use for this community, I really appreciate the effort.

Thanks, I wanted to do this now that I have extra time that I usually do not have. Also I enjoy doing this kind of things as I like to have information sorted and easy to find when I need to consult it.

In the past I used Discord only for Gaming, but now I use it for working with the computer doing projects and stuff, the more I use it the more I like it.

That build porn tricks would be very handy and usefull for a lot of people! Hope you can find the time to do that =).

Thanks for pointing that out, I fixed it. It seems that as I copied pasted from the old post, the links had "..." as the forum makes links shorter and places "..." in the middle. Now should work fine!

I wrote some guides on google drive about 6 years ago. Haven't really looked at them lately but I'm sure they're still relevant. They're not posts here but they should get some exposure.

There should really be some information on mapster scripting in this thread. A guide for absolute beginners. A few seconds of typing one line of code in the console can save several minutes of work when it comes to bulk-editing of attributes, especially if the edits are conditional on something. Perhaps I could add something basic in my speed mapping guide sometime.
