AMC TC Episode 2 release!  "COME GET IT!"

#151

I noticed something weird ; in the Command Control, Why is there an Episode 3 mission ?
In the Filter I could select "Episode 3 missions" and that one appears, I also got the occasion to select "Episode 4 missions" but I didn't have the reflex to try and select it and I actualy don't remember how I got the occasion to.

It seems to be set in Egypt for a Pyramid but that sounds weird since that's Ep 2 not 3 and I fear that it might be an incomplete WIP map :/

Any idea why it's there ?
I haven't tried the map because I'm too focused on the EDF missions at the time and I'll still have to play the Ep 2 missions after that.

I also have an observation: In the EDF mission called Secret Base (the one near Madagascar) I have picked up a strange melted clock from the wall in one of the rooms. Looked like the clocks in that Salvador Dali painting.

Does that do anything? I thought it's a new artifact but it doesn't show up in the loadout menu...

The stuff you find in EDF Mission maps are decorations for the living quarters of various AMC operatives. As far as I can tell, that's literally all they're for, but hey, still a nice little diversion.

I noticed in "Big Trouble in China" level, there is a note named "Note from Cheung", since I can read Chinese, and I feel it's so weird when I first get that note and try to read it... then I saw the last line(about username and password) and immediately understand......whoever did that picture, was just use Google translator or some of machine translators for that, but it's just a grammar hell for me or others who can read Chinese... :D :D :D

Damn, I wish I knew you spoke Chinese (probably kinda obvious given your nickname sorry) since this was something I was actually worried about! If you have some time, would you be interested in giving me the proper translation for those letters? The english version shows up back at base in the documentation room (which has been moved next to the briefing room) Also let me know if you see any other silly signs in the wrong places :D

I also hated the fact that as soon as I entered the base my custom weapons were all gone. (The gold shotgun, for instance, would have helped me so much more against the supernatural enemies there...)

Sorry you didn't enjoy the level, Zaxtor's levels are an acquired taste I have to admit. This sounds like a troubling bug, so you're saying that your loadout returned to default when you entered the next map? The book of Viridi does as you described - the Spirit Shawl protects against attacks by enemies like the Lost (the ghost that screams at you) and makes it really easy to see.

woops, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain :D

First of all, congrats for making it that far! Onto the problem:

I like the new weapons, the new Shotgun for James sure is neat, same with the LR300, but I am not sure if another rifle like that is even a good idea, seeing as he already has the M4/Master Key combination. I would think that James should get something like the MK46 or Mk48 LMGs instead of another rifle or maybe some advanced stuff. bought the vehicle testing range, not bad, but no idea what it is really useful for. Also, I am not sure, but airdrop didnt seem to work in the tower of life map, I guess I didnt press the right button. Have yet to test out Mickys new weapons that I bought as well as the ones for Sang. Haywire and the others dont have any new weapons yet it seems, at least the arms dealer has nothing new. Still stuck at tech level 8, no idea how to advance.

That's a fair point, but the LR300 does have a M203 which combined with the various 40mm shell types makes it quite useful. I wanted to stay away from LMGs as I felt that doesn't really suit James that much...I want to go with more exotic weapon types (For example, the double-barrelled Gilboa AR) Ultimately Highwire, Rusty and Geoffrey didn't get new weapons apart from gold shotgun variants due to their absence from the community. It's not a personel thing but I felt it was better to dedicate the time and resources to still active members. If they came back I'd definitely rectify this at least.

Also, some observations: during the cut scene where you are going to the island facility. Mikko talks to Zxantor about Madagascar and mentions how sorry he is about the destruction, that strikes me a bit odd, seeing as Mikko was this crazy Social Drawinist in the first game where he exclaimed how the weak shall fear his fury and how he is the tool of natural selection and during a phone conversation he mentions that he and Haywire argued about power and what should it be used for and how they where total opposites, with Mikko even stating he thinks giving power to the people is a waste of time and effort. Guess Mikko mellowed out since episode 1 or something else happened that changed his mind.

Heh, are you sure it's because he feels bad about the destruction and not just that it put a dent in MS-Corp's profits from that region? :D I would say that Mikko's character cares about his friends and equals, but otherwise is indifferent mostly. I think it's good that there's one that seems like a wild-card though so the squad doesn't feel like a big circle-jerk.

I also remember that I wanted to make a map for AMC TC. I even posted about it, but then I was carried away with quite a lot of business. Well, maybe next time? :D

EDIT: I was playing on Expert, not Professional.

Anyway, good job everyone!

What is the area scan for in the PDA by the way?

It's main gameplay function is to show you if certain things are interact-able or if they can be blown up, as well as the combination to most multiple switch puzzles. Otherwise it can provide background information on most bodies and blood stains, to let you know the rough estimated age (which is just world building fluff)

So I've beaten episode 2... but one thing still remains. Well, okay, two maybe. I'm still only at tech level 9--where might I have missed a scientist? I started episode 2 with a tech level of 6 and I only recall encountering scientists in Mikko and Sang's mission outside the solar system. Also, I've clearly got a missing artifact between Boots of Lightstep and Book of Viridi; what level is this missing artifact in?

Some of the tech upgrades are scraps of paper (iirc they are highlighted so you can tell them from regular debris)

Did you get those too?

(i'm pretty sure that's how you get an upgrade in ghost ship, i don't remember the rest off the top of my head)

I know I grabbed two shiny things in the lab on the bottom floor. I thought those were research projects, though.

If you play as me during the Dis base mission, there's a time portal you can find inside the blue keycard room - there's a few more scientists inside there.

That artifact is the book of Nails; if it's not the same bug as Havoc got where artifacts go missing for some reason, you can find it in Millhaven by jumping on top of the library and walking around the outskirts of the mountain ledge behind it.

I don't see any weird signs in BTiC level, but I'm not 100% sure, if I found a weird one, I'll post here... :D

Okay. Maybe my memory is a little fuzzy about it.

I played ghost ship starting with a tech level of 6, i collected a few scraps of paper, but I don't recall ever seeing any scientists. After I completed the level I was at tech level 8.

I'm assuming the papers I collected raised the tech level.

Micky should know.

There is some technology in the EAF building in the City under Siege map, thats how I got to tech level 8, if you get the stuff from the Ghost Ship, you should be tech level 9 or 10, dunno what else is there to grab. Someone should make a walk through for Episode 1 and 2, that would be neat.

I have a complaint about all shotgun types. The blood splatter they make isn't always obvious (sometimes just 1 red drop is visible, but yeah), so I can't really tell how the shotgun hit the enemy, as in how many pellets. I think they could use a more visible blood effect to differentiate from other weapons. I hate shooting an enemy thinking I missed but somehow hitting it. (Most annoying with automatic shotgun weapons, as you unload more than needed)

Also in many dialogues I read "must of", they should be "must have", shouldn't they?

Okay, beat the Ghost Ship mission, not bad. Had some nice things going for it, but one thing I hated where those Screaming Ghosts, I never like enemies like that. First off the seem to be able to still damage you if they are in another room, secondly are they creating some loud noise that makes me almost go deaf. I always disliked enemies that scream in your ear for no reason. Not scary, just annoying. The rest was okay, even if it got a bit tiresome near the end to fight off all those demon hordes. Also, really, those Archvile things throw you around while chanting at you? Meh, at least they where easy to kill, something I could not say about the Cyberdemon things, they kicked my ass. I should not have used that caseless assault rifle, lacks the punch to penetrate their armor. Overall, very nice map, spooky and stressful at times, but well done.

There was a bug with the level exit that another person discovered, this has been fixed. Sorry about the fuckup.

Micky will get a kick out of this as he and Mikko busted my balls about my common southern English tongue :D Thanks for pointing this out, I fixed the written ones.

The blood spatter issue, I kinda hope to improve blood effects a bit since they're still a bit outdated compared to the new explosions and stuff.

Player lin; thanks a huge bunch for that translated text, I'll put it to use right away! :D

Did you pick up the temp weapon next to the keycard there? It's pretty damn powerful and you really shouldn't be using regular weapons in that situation. If you're in a big empty open area and there's a keycard, a weapon, and one of those giant health boosters close together in the middle of nowhere, it's usually a sign that something's about to happen and that you should pick those things up.

Well, yeah, I should have used the M16/M203 and used the grenades, I really have to think about adding them to my inventory. I did make it but only barely because even after the boss had zero health, I got killed by monsters. Funfact, demons still attacked me during the mission end cutscene.
