Do you mean the monk? Hellbound made a model of him.

Can we expect to see all new weapons with proper gloss maps in Eduke by the end of the month?

Thats good enough to make even TeaMonster drool.

Last i recall it was a firemonk a refrence to blood i think.

Has anybody done a remake of the ripper back into the plasma gun or whatever it was in lameduke?

I dunno if i asked this before but does anybody mind if models in the HRP pack are used for other things? like other games?

Hey guys. I'm trying to get the latest Blender 2.8 md3 import/export plug. Am I supposed to download all the stuff and somehow merge the latest pull request into dev version? I'm still really far from this stuff
https://github.com/n...der-md3/pull/18
GitHub
Blender 2.8 support by axredneck · Pull Request #18 · neumond/bl...
Please merge as separate branch in order to not break Blender 2.79 support.
Currently it exports/imports UVs but doesn't import textures.

Attached File  io_export_md3.zip (6.02K)
Number of downloads: 267
I updated my exporter to 2.8 a while back if you want to try it. Just drop it in scripts/addons and then enable it like any other.
It's still in trials, only Mark and Tea Monster have seen it so please let me know if you encounter any bugs.

What are people's thoughts on replacing the current HRP monsters with the ones from HHR?

I'm not sure, while I think the HHR models are higher quality - I feel the current HRP ones are more faithful to the originals.

Then again, I don't think I'm the intended audience for the HRP anyway

(...)

That's why I haven't uploaded them earlier myself. Night Fright was very keen before the mod was released, and I warned him at that time that we updated a lot of the designs - The Battlelord design was inspired by an alpha version of DNF. Anyone interested in 'pixel purity' may not like the designs. There has been a deafening silence since the mod came out, so I've assumed that was what the reaction was.

Since I was part of HHR I have a bias to want to see them in the HRP. But to replace some and leave the other old ones in would not be right. Inconsistant content has been a major critique of the HRP.

On the other hand, if its already a mess of styles whats the harm? :o

I would want to see them tested in a bunch of vanilla and user maps first to make sure there are no issues. There shouldn't be but you never know for sure.

You can always compile an override pack to be loaded on top of the HRP itself if you want to avoid mixing things up.

I think there are some 3D models that could be added without problems:

  • Camera
  • Tank

Posted Image

  • The previous version of the Trooper (I think that is your second best 3d model) but isn't included in HHR. (The image is in your public album)
You could post that image in this thread and I think all will want that model in HRP.

Override pack is the way to go I think.

Though, most people who prefer the originals just play in 8-bit mode anyway, don't they? Or at least not with the HRP pack anyway. I guess it doesn't matter to me at this point, long as the original pack with the old models are still available somewhere. My biggest thing is preservation and archiving of every little thing. Even the ancient shotgun and pistol.

I like original 8 bit, but I love having the voxels and corrected skies.

Ton - what was this 'unpublished' trooper model?

I play the exact same way, but I also include your upscale pack. I know you mentioned that only AA displays the upscaled art properly, but I do think it's worth isolating the necessary code into your own pack for those like me who want to play with upscaled art without all that extra overhead.

TON asked me to post a picture of the original model of the Lizard Trooper I was working on. The one in HHR was made by a guy called CGPhantom, not myself.

I thought, while I'm at it, I'll post my work-formerly-in-progress (WFIP) gallery.

This was the original Liz Trooper model by myself.

Fat Commander sculpt (not finished).

We considered adding the Octabrain to HHR at one point. This is a test sculpt to see what he would look like. Not at all a complete concept. VERY WFIP.

Here are some concept art of different Battlelord designs that are more like the original DN3D design.

Other than the battle lord (which needs some work honestly in my opinion.) those all look really good, i really hate the DNF models and these look aewsome.

that enforcer looks great and the octobrain despite being just a sculpt looks good too.

Shouldn't they have the same aspect ratio as the original?

I get that "Better one" is more faithful to the original in the bat/vampire image, but the lettering looks so much better on the HD Retexture.
