The theme of the level suggests lots of supernatural opposition. Remember to add some way of fight it back: if you play 'Jungle Base' without a way of dealing with supernatural enemies you are definitely going to have a bad time.

For me Zaxtor's Golden SG is more than enough ^^
But it's true that those who don't have it will have a hard time even with the Golden AutoRifle :/

Ruined base has some mobs not much.
Pyramid starts kinda quiet and gets nasty as you progress.

Will we see a collaborative map between you and other mappers in EP3 or you mapping style isn't 'combinable'? You know... your levels have a reputation of being TOO hard for most players, xD!

#609 Posted 17 December 2015 - 03:16 AM
Besides, like you say he maps pretty fast and doesn't need help in the first place. I'd bet Zaxtor also had his levels planned out in his head pretty early on and knows what to do. I semi make it up as I go along.

I sure hope we won't have timing based switch codes in that new map because that puzzle is pure evil ^^

Looking good so far.

Most maps in Oblivion are indeed hard. But they do have a good design to them though. Like what I have mentioned before, Once you know them, Zaxtor's maps are pretty fun.

Please NO! That switch was a pain in my spiky @$$!

Will have very few switch puzzles but easy.
Harder one has a hint to beat it.

Ah Zaxtor I thank thee in advance for not including villainies in thy blesséd maps

You might actually be my favorite mapper of all time ^^
The thing with the timing-based switch is that whenever I manage to solve it I actually don't understand why it did work that time and not the other times, sometimes I need dozens of tries and some other times it works in less than 5 :/
But James said it was apparently buggy and it doesn't look like its seconds match the real seconds ...

During my playthroughs on harder difficulties than normal I solved the switch on my first try -except on Armageddon-. The first time I solved it I guided myself with my cellphone's chronometer. After that I did the 'Mississippi thingy', you know... 'one Mississippi, two Mississippi, etc.'

Well on my end I use either the "level stats" on the botton left corner of the screen or the PDU's first screen which acts like a watch but as I said the fact it'll work is never guaranteed :/
I don't know about that "Mississippi" thingie ^^
In France we have "one sheep, two sheeps, three sheeps .... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

The sheep count to conceive sleep is universal, I think, xD!

Of course we don't use that method in Spain, hell no. It's the aftermath that watching american series have left me.

Anyway... I know a bit of music, so keeping a tempo is quite easy for me.

I also used my cellphone as well to solve this timed switch puzzle. What I did was I've just set the timer to like 99 hours (This way it doesn't go off

#619 Posted 18 December 2015 - 12:15 PM
I had thought about using my watch (because tis' digital) first time I got there but quickly forgot about it and used the "level stats" ... A good thing with Zaxt's maps is that he makes us express our creativity it seems (for handling such situations or path finding)

#620 Posted 21 December 2015 - 12:33 AM
Now at 2286 sectors, 13503 lines and 9332 sprites

Even though the others weren't meant for AMC in the first place and it looks like it's gonna be even harder than Jungle Base ^^
I can't imagine how wickedly hidden some secrets might be (only miss one secret in JB other than that I found all secrets of your maps in AMC) *faint*
