AMC TC general

Rhaisher's right on the money again :P Jane is one of those characters who I had a lot in mind for but have never really been able to utilize due to the lack of voice acting (She's British like James) She was originally called Lucy but I changed her name because I worked with someone with the same name and I was paranoid back then that people would think I named Jane after her (A dumb reason but hey I was dumb too :whistling:) I'd still like to have her take part in a map in the future, one day I will.

Number 2, is just because she didn't have a stationary sprite - there's no deeper meaning behind it :woot:

I see, thanks :woot:

BTW it looks like Raisher is becoming a living encyclopedia on AMC :whistling:

Especially considering how big the gaps between activities are ^^

Well... James has spent like... half of his life with these projects. None other knows the story behind his games like he does, but if he ever needs help with a map entry concerning its description and whatnot, I'd be happy to lend a hand.
I've always had good memory, and the story told in IW's 4th episode (was it 'Time After Time'? :whistling:) was immersive.

Besides... MJ12 waste disposal facility has one of the scariest moments I've been through in gaming. I can remember perfectly the... 'zombies' breathing sound while they approach you (while you were unarmed). That's why I still remember it, xD! :woot:

All in all... is amazing that you guys, authors of such amazing universe, are easily spoken to through these forums. :P

It means a lot to have people enjoy the stuff I've worked on most of my life - I don't plan on going anywhere so hopefully I'll be putting out stuff till the end of time :whistling:

I have 2 other questions, the last ones for a long time I promise ^^

1_ In the Island Facility level, in the boss room, Why are we given HE Shells while it's supposed to be inefficient against armored enemies ? Are these a help for lower difficulties or remains of an earlier project ?

2_ With James' AUG, when we are using the Scope the accuracy seems to be lower than when non-scoped, Is it intentionnal or is it a bug due to the change between Ep1 and 2 ?

HE Shells should do damage to the enemies, just no extra damage. I'll check to see if it's a bug. I don't think that's right with the second one but I'll double check as well.

I might have been wrong, I'll re-check this week-end as well. If there's really a problem with the second one I'll post a screen just in case >_>

I'm making lots of confusions these days but I remember that I sometimes found it not that accurate to hit enemies from really far away with the AUG scope like in the secret level of Ep2 for instance.

I've just tested what we talked about and it's just as I thought, take a look at these :

On this picture I shot 20 bullets while waiting in-between :

Attached Image: duke0000.png

Then I did the same in Scoped view on the one next to it :

Attached Image: duke0001.png

As you can see when non-scoped (Right) not only the accuracy is not pin-point but bullets also go slightly higher than where I aimed. As for Scoped view (Left) the bullets got the correct height but as you can see although the accuracy seems slightly higher it's still not pin-point which goes with what I asked earlier, hitting targets from far away is harder and yet in the pics I had the improved grip upgrade.

Let us know what you think of it after some playing.

I've played it for quite a bit, and it has been FUN. Apart from Pig Cops now being able to shrug off a shotgun blast (friggin' kevlar...), this is the TC I've wanted to play ever since I first played Duke Nukem 3D. I've beaten a few of the usermaps as James, Mikko, Zaxtor, Highwire and Rusty Nails, and they're all exceptionally awesome---James belting out a few verses of "Snake Eater" while climbing a ladder in the Megabase, and Highwire singing the Tetris theme were a few highlights.

That being said, there were a few annoyances---mainly, Pig Cops taking potshots at me from half a beach away (in "The Beach", obviously) and their new kevlar making headshots a necessity. Still, those are VERY minor issues---the rest of the TC is flawless, and I've had nothing but fun blasting through EDF missions (can't wait to do a few on the moon :woot:).

I just wish Mikko would quit calling me stupid when I try to press things to see if they'll open a hidden door... :whistling:

I remember reading somewhere that James originally wanted there to be both regular pigcops and armoured pigcops, but since the maximum number of tiles was much more limited at the time of Episode 1 that he decided to simply go for armoured to save space.

Is this true James? Should we thinking about re-implementing a non-armoured pigcop?

Are these F-22s or F-15s in the background ?

No need to watch the movie, I zoomed in a lot and it's apparent that they're F-22s, because of the wing shape and the nose ^_-
But we also get to see some F-16s as well

It would be nice to have some planes in AMC, I mean as effects like the choppers (HH-60s it seems) or the Flyer flying by or something like that ^^
Making a flyable one would be possible but I can't imagine the horror of creating a flight model in the Build Engine >_>

I can see the reviews now: "Lead star Micky C of AMC Squad fame portrays Tony Stark with the worst acting skills to ever grace the silver screen. However the film is noteworthy for realistic action scenes and Micky allegedly performed all of his own stunts."

I just wanted to drop by and say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this amazing work. Without question the best total conversion I've played. It's been a treat to revisit it again.

I've been replaying through episode one as Rusty Nails. I just finished insanely cool Abyss level, which aesthetically reminded me of the best parts of Requiem Avenging Angel, before checking out some of the EDF stuff (really, really love Wet Dream!).

I'm trying to decide which order I should play through the main missions. I could stick with Rusty and hit Milhaven, or switch and play through Red, Snow Base, or the Revolution. Any personal preferences? Having a bit of analysis paralysis. :D

Thanks a lot, we've certainly invested a lot of time and passion into the TC.

It's not a preference, but the order of the missions defined in the cons is roughly:
Revolution
Millhaven
Snow Base

By Red I assume you mean the Red Saga from EDF missions? It's not a part of Episode 1.

Ah, my mistake. I don't know why I thought that! I've played through Red 4 and 5 and thought they were both amazing maps, but I really need to play through the whole saga.

Thanks for info. Even though it's not mandatory, I'll head through in that order. The attention to detail throughout the missions is just amazing. You're never lost but there's always ample room to explore. It stands as a testament to what shooters can be.

"It stands as a testament to what shooters can be."
I'd say it's a testament to what shooters SHOULD be !

Anyways I got 2 questions ^^

1_ MS Corp Mecha's "Reticuluting Splines" message .... Could this be a reference to "The Sims" ?

2_ In the very last instances of Ep2, before jumping out of the station, James says that "there's something that can help him" ... What is that "something" ? Is he referring to the MJ12 experiment in IW or something else ?

There should be a small bottle of something next to the note when James wakes up.

Bits of the story should be cleared up somewhat in Episode 3. We're certainly playing a long game with the plot. I mean it's been 2/5 episodes already and the squad hasn't even encountered the main enemy/threat yet.

I did see the bottle but we can't interact with it, or at least I think so :/

I guess it's sort of implied that you've used it. We don't want people jumping out of the ship then dying on impact just because they didn't press 'use'.

On a related note, it's also implied that when James activates the thrusters, the ship's descent is both slowed, while also propelling the ship forward such that it still crashes catastrophically, but does so far away from the colony at a safe distance. This is why James needs to jump out instead of hanging around and waiting to be picked up. Of course, it was too difficult from a technical perspective to convey these points, so the ship simply appears to be stationary.
1

#689

I thought the station was moving too slowly to be seen moving given out downward movement at that time but nevermind thanks for the answer ^^

But we actually see it move during the descent while we're still in but while the thrusters are activated the ship is back to its original altitude but I suppose it's linked to everything you said.

How the heck do I get to Tech Level 10? I'm willing to bet I missed a few tech modules and such, but is there another way?

Also, "the Beach" and "Tropical Alien Massacre" never show up as cleared despite the fact that I've beaten each with more than one character. What gives?
