Sanek asked me to post another shot from his LORCH 3 map, so here it is.

@Loke: First shot is overwhelming! Just add some sloppes here and there, floors are a bit to flat.

Why can't Sanek post here? I see he is a member here.

Was fed up with how slow and finicky 3D design software was for an engineering project. So I decided to construct my building in mapster32 instead.

Can you film the presentation of the 'fly-through'? I want to see their faces when they turn a corner on the 5th floor and come face-to-face with an Octobrain.

You ain't gonna beleive it, but I started making a game about a little girl in a dream world and used The Edge as a base.

Will post a thread next week.

Nice to see even more original projects popup.

Great artwork, I like the 8bit silent hill esque look that Yume Nikki has, and Emerica's looks like it would have been at home in the 90's as an actual game.

Reminds me of how that one Doom TC went all out with a comic style, forgot what that was called.

I'll have to check out The Edge some time.

I think you mean Action Doom II: Urban Brawl. Action Doom has a LITTLE bit of comic sorta stuff, but it's mostly Doom-ish.

Nope, this one.

Its rather challenging, I haven't gotten too far in it, and it has some interesting stuff for the Doom engine, and nice use of visual tricks, which I'm a big fan of.

I wouldn't say that's cartoony, Harmony is definitely more like claymation.

I can't wait for Emirca's mod! The demo was really good despite a couple of flaws I talked about back when it was released.

Yume Niki 3D looks interesting, but the problem with Eddy is that he keeps doing remakes or new versions of things that were already done, or based on something existing. I wish he'd do something completely original.

A generic space shooter game I've made in a couple of hours. Will be included in my current project as a bonus feature.

I actually have an original project in works, but when I try to work on it, I begin to feel bored eventually.

Thanks. I've done my best to work out all of the things people brought up. I think just about everything that was mentioned in the demo/beta/whatever release has been fixed/changed. Even axed the screen-rolling when you strafe, which was something I was always all uber diehard about not getting rid of. Oh well. Anywho, here's another screen.

This map is supposed to just be an introductory sort of thing, so I'm not very particular about how much of it I spoil.

Looks too damn sexy man!

Are you using that LezingĀ“s bloom effect? I see your muzzleflashes and lamps shine more than usual.

It's going to be huge, like always :P
Framerate is still okay in game (30 fps), but without polymer lights.

All I see is Blood textures so I can't stop thinking of Blood. It ruins the experience for me even though I never tried it.

I love what you're doing but I can't be the only one to think stuff like this ruins your experience?

I think it looks fine, and it appears they've been edited to fit with the other textures. At the very least they're not palette raped.

No more than it would or should ruin the experience in Imagination World or AMC or WGR1 or WGR2 or Fusion or the A.dream trilogy or....

Yup. Saw it in M210's Blood project and it totally triggered a gottahaveit reflex.

Yeah I think it's a bit disingenuous to pop up and say it's an issue with that mod considering how liberally other projects (like my own) have used not just textures but actual enemies and weapons from the game as well. To be completely honest I vaguely get that feeling when I see Duke Nukem enemies or textures in Doom mods but I know it's because of how much I played Duke. If you barely played it (or Blood) than you're not gonna notice or care.

To be honest I've played Blood a lot but I didn't even notice the textures here. Thought the screenshot looked good.

The main problem with Duke enemies in Doom is that they just don't fit. Most textures and sprites though can fit well with some fudging around.

And you figured out the reason why I don't play any of those. Whenever I try to get into them, all I see is chaos. Stuff from 30+ other games. My mind wanders into those games and I can't focus on in a single proper atmosphere, completely breaking the experience.

Still, at least the Duke3D community has it better than the DOOM community.

Well that's a mistake since you're missing out - I don't just speak for my own project but the WGR series as well (and many others). Ultimately if done well and with consideration than ripped resources can fit well, as long as it's suitable. I promptly get over it personally, since if you decide not to play a mod with ripped content than the selection is dramatically narrowed down.

It's not about decision and definitely not about disrespecting the authors for their work, especially on massive projects like AMC TC. It's just that my mind picks up even the smallest details in things and in this case it's just textures from another familiar product, which leaves me unease.

I can see a little of what Daedolon is saying. I've learned to get over it/ignore it whatever. Though I really like projects where care is taken to make sure things fit together rather than just being slapped together.

Well looking at Emerica's screenshots, he's really put effort into making everything fit palette-wise and in general, which is much more than other projects that I've seen (Aeons of Death and the DOOM community in general, I'm looking at you), but it still bothers me.
