The HUD looks a little "floating", this is, lot of images around the screen.

You should create composed images. This is, the allie-soviet logo be part of the map/radar image. Etc.

Also, I would enjoy to see the cash amount in the top of the screen, much like GTA. <_<

I will give it a try and see how it turns out.

Thanks, guys. It's nice to know I'm off to a good start, in light of the fact that I've never seriously mapped before. Alot of the horror stories I heard about how tedious and exasperating it is scared me away from it, but it actually isn't all that bad.

The animations are really lame, but this will have to make do as a temp model for the alien.

What's the easiest way to change the x dimensions for a model btw? I want to tighten it up a little.

You can simply stretch the dummytile or you can export to .obj resize the model and then export it again to md3. Quite easy if you have the right tools:

3ds md3 plugin
unwrapper
nphermo´s md3 compiler

Alien model looks great. You can also try changing the xrepeat in CON code (so instead of sizeat 40 40 or whatever, try sizeat 36 40)

Thanks! I feel like I've just turned into George Lucas.. <_<
The model has a beautiful and really authentic Hr Giger skin I saved on the harddrive six years ago. Good to know I finally got a use for it! (actually I used this skin for the sprite alien too, but you can't tell too good)

Dan: Good point! I have a couple of pulse rifle models sitting on the harddrive, I'll tool around and see which has the best animations. This means I have to get a model for the motion tracker pickup as well. I'm sure things can be worked out though.

Yeah me too, I'm a huge fan of Giger's. I wanted the aliens' behaviour to be more towards the Giger alien than Cambo's bug in Aliens. Slow, methodical, sexy and absolutely lethal! Ofcourse I'm restricted by the animations somewhat, so it's not really advanced or anything. At least at this stage.

I'm working on the HUD, I had a massive set-back after a HDD fail - after whihc I discovered the backup scripts hadn't been working for a long time, but I am still working on things slowly, mostly textures and code, so still only have a single half finished level. I can't stop the original HUD being drawn for some reason, and as M210 mentioned in another thread, the showview command isn't working in polymer for the screen in the HUD (which is based on code from the wiki - thanks to whoever made that) but that feature might not hang around as it was more an experiment than anything as I can't see how I would implement the map/radar thing. What I have done today is probably not such a big acheivement to most people, but I'm quite proud of it so far.

Can't figure out how to stop original HUD from being drawn, but the default one can't be seen and setting the screensize to max works fine.

After poking around with stuff and a lot of trial and error, I think I am getting the hang of this CON to a degree, especially now I'm getting the syntaxes into my head.

Edit: How rude of me... @Rusty Nails, I've been watching your work, and I'm liking it <_< - I might just have to play your mod when it's finished.
I actually look at most of the work that people do, and I should comment on it all more, but I have the curse of human nature and find saying positive things harder than saying negative things, thus I say nothing at all most of the time, even though I usually like what I see.

Been trying for about three or four hours now to get the pulse rifle displayed correctly. I just can't figure out how to correct the focal length. It's all drawn out and shit. I guess it has something to do with the center of the model or something. I pasted the original pulse rifle for reference.

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried just about any combination with zadd, angadd and stuff like that.

There's nothing you can do here atm Rusty, except for scaling down the model itself by that axis. Take a look at the HRP shrinker for instance it's scaled by 50% to look right.

A lot of work to animate this model. But the result could be great <_<

it's better to make a large model and next adjust is size with code or definitions files. Because when the model is animated, if the md3 model is too small the model's geometry shakes.

I only have Npherno's to edit md3 models with. Oh and Milkshape 3D, but that won't let you import/export md3 frames if I remember correctly. I managed to make it look somewhat good last night, but I'm terribly pedantic about this sort of stuff to look perfect - considering it's the only weapon you'll be carrying in the game.

Try Misfit Model 3d. It imports and exports MD3 files. Go for the development version.

I've never really used it as anything other than a file converter, but it is supposed to be a full-featured modeller.
