Ballsy episode. Very impressed that they got everything so right. Didn't feel forced or fan service in a jack you off sort of way. Really nuanced shit.

It was done by robert rodriguez, the dusk til' dawn robert rodriguez, which is probably why.

Directors do leave an important touch. Like that battle scene was all his.

I'm clearly commenting on the writing. A director can't save a bad script.

Have you watched a david lynch movie?

Scripts are probably cancer, especially for lost highway and mullholand drive. Actors reported that they can't even make sense of it.

But yes good writing.
Awesome action scenes though.

I obviously mistranslated.

EDIT: Also the good Roger Corman movies like littlest shop of horrors, and death race 2000. And some of the Troma films. All of the movies by Jan Svankmajer, he could probably make a messed up movie out of one of my ramblings.

The only time I'll be frustrated about that stuff is if they remake something like potemkin with an all female cast. Studios don't really care about feminism, they care about how the consumer views them and cash.

If you get female children to watch this stuff with female moms supporting it, and they think disney is vying for them, you get another generation of disney fans for not much moolah, along with rallying feminazis and social media gurus to give them free advertising for their films.

Money, they love the money.

Most studios love the money.
This is an easy way of doing it.

I'm not going to trash any shows before they get made, but on the face of it this glut of shows being announced sure makes it look like Disney has not learned its lesson about quality over quantity. If they want to appeal to different audiences and I'm not part of a target audience, that's fine. But I suspect they will force the showrunners of the more popular series to do tie-ins with the weaker shows in order to prop them up, thereby compromising the better shows. They think they can make another MCU out of SW, which I'm not enthused about as someone who enjoys Mandalorian, nor do I think that it (i.e. the SW TV universe as a whole) will be a big commercial success. The MCU movies weren't everyone's cup of tea, but Kevin Feige did a good job at quality control for the most part. I seriously doubt there is a mastermind as competent behind this SW push.

Ahsoka won't be a girl power show. Dave Filoni is behind it and it's his character. He has a say in how she is portrayed and he's never portrayed her as anything but awesome. I'm looking forward to that one. Everything else,....we'll see.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are slotted as producers, but the original article (which I annoyingly can't find anymore) had one of Kathleen's pet femnazis as the director.

Justin Simien (dear white people) is doing the lando thing

the other two or three project directors are:
Taika Waititi (jojo rabbit - the social justice comedy of the year)
Patty Jenkins (sorry simps, wonder woman was still a girl-power movie, it just didn't star a mary-sue so it got a pass because people were annoyed with miss marvel & Rey)

He's pretty good at comedy, I liked what we do in the shadows quite a bit. How this'll apply to star wars, IDK, it seems like a very odd choice. Also the thor movie he did was good, along with an episode of the mandalorian, he seems fairly flexible.

maybe.
he's also working on the new thor movie - the one where thor gets the 007 treatment and is replaced with a woman - because, you know, there just aren't enough female superheros, so girl power.

will the shows and movies be pandering trash?
perhaps
perhaps not

just pointing out the kathleen kennedy persuasion and the projects some of these people have had their hands on

*Eye roll*

They pull that before introducing beta ray bill as a character, when thor is carrying his axe.

Stupid as all hell.

It's like when the director removed gray hulk from the film when bruce got possessed by scarlet witch, because although him turning into gray hulk made more sense, as she didn't have the ability to make him angry at the time, he felt good ole joe wasn't as popular as savage hulk.

Simien seems like a horrible choice.
Doesn't make any sense.

Wonder woman director, I felt the movie was slightly above meh... Monster was great, but that's not really going to apply to star wars.

There's this little part of me that wants lucasarts/disney to approach david lynch again, and just let him loose on a star wars film.

I just want to be in the universe where he said yes to George lucas.

The only future project that stands a chance of being digestable is the Ahsoka spin-off. And only because the original people have some influence; though their primary focus will still be the mandalorian.

just my opinion

Captain marvel was mostly a black female at least in the comics I read. I didn't understand hollywood making it less PC then it already was. Like doctor strange.

The only PC character I actually like is the pied piper because it's fairly subtle compared to other characters, most don't really know that he's gay, just a normal dude villain that likes killing rich people.

the original captain marvel is also called shazam

there were several captain marvel's in the marvel universe
The third or fourth in line was some black woman who was unrelated to their original line - but most of them afterwards were related to their original and passed the name along like a family tradition

Yeah, I knew that. Captain marvel was originally DC, and there was a dispute. I just remember her getting the most comic time out of any of them besides the dc counterpart.

Back to star wars.

Andor looks very promising.

Acolyte meh... If it's a low budget star wars thriller, I think the director they manhandled can pull that off, anything else probably not.

For the rest of the films it's a heads or tails.

kinda hard to split marvel from star wars since they're both owned by the same company with the same people working on both projects.

just don't be disappointed when organic and normal characters get the mary-sue treatment (ala ms. captain marvel - who went from mediocre/average to the ultimate power in the universe for no apparent reason)

That made no sense

Sentry was put in marvel comics to do that and at least he has a weakness, not being able to fully control his powers. More interesting character then the lets write in weaknesses as we go for plot devices, cinematic Ms. Marvel.

Only supes on earth way past her level if they ever introduce them are really franklin richards and molecule man, and raw phoenix force.

I don't care how woke he is as a person, he is a good director and has made some really good stuff, including Thor Ragnarok and What We Do in the Shadows. He also directed what was arguably the best episode of Mandalorian season one. I'd be happy to watch a SW show that he directs if he can keep politics out of it.

Taika has produced as much crap as he has good. The What We Do in the Shadows TV show is leaps and bounds better than the movie. Taika would be a nobody without Jemaine Clement.

Am I the only one who thinks that Mandalorian is not that great as everyone praises it is? Like its story I feel is almost video game base levels of story telling at times.

That is not to say it is a bad show. It is better than anything Disney has shat out since they acquired the Star Wars brand, barring maybe Rogue One. However just because it is good Star Wars does not mean it is awesome.

On another note, apparently a there was a leak of a one of the early scripts of episode 8. Even if it was a false flag and was just fanfiction, I still think this fanficiton is better than what we got at the end.

What makes Star Wars stuff good is the emphasis on adventure. It's when it tries to do other things that it fails. The Mandalorian is great because it takes what inspired the OG trilogy (western and adventure serials) to it's most logical extreme. It doesn't try to push an agenda, and at first it didn't even try to sell you anything! (Unheard of for Star Wars. There wasn't Baby Yoda merch until almost a year later.) It fulfills exactly what it sets out to do and respects the fan base (for now.)

All the Disney movies so far have been trashy bullshit that disrespects the fan base on purpose. And Rogue One can piss off for it's erasure of Kyle Katarn.
