Community Confessions  "OK, let's get this straight"

User is offline   Sanek

Let me start...

With the exception of Canyon and Bad Weekend, I've never played in any maps by Mister Sinster. I remember the days when his maps were bad and noobish, and now he's a much better mapper than I am. I guess I even a little bit jelaous. But he stopped talking to me about 5 years ago (which is a shame, since we both russians), and he didn't comment on my maps, so I don't comment his work in answer. But I'm always ready to shake hands.
Do you have any confessions?

I confess that this would have been better suited under his last map release thread - along with a comment about his work.

I confess that I've made a lot Duke maps over the years and haven't released a single one of them.

I don't think it's a good idea to air dirty laundry like this.

I think Brutal Doom and Duke Plus are great mods, that Nvidia makes great video cards, and that AMD makes very cost effective CPUs.

Balls of Steel is a really good pinball game.
Like the best virtual pinball game....
That's why my name is Balls Of Steel Forever.

not directly because of the Duke Nukem franchise,
although, I really enjoy the Duke Nukem games also.
which is why I signed up for this forum.
(along with it's small and reliant population size, compared to something like reddit,
and the fact that I lurked here for years)

No need to say he is better xD That is nice of you to say though actually, and takes a good person to do so. I think everyone has there own styles no need for the comparing. Ever since I started mapping I been sucked into competition unwillingly there are still those who don't comment on my releases. But who knows they could be busy or maybe they don't actually play user maps. Easiest solution to avoid all the little popping questions: Don't worry about comments from people just be happy with your own works release your map, look forward, and ignore the rest. You see in my opinion if I had fun making the map that's all that matters.

My personal confession is I been working on my Turok3 map for Duke since November 2014 hehe but I still plan to release it. Its just I am working with the actual Turok editor now and I want the same level of comfort I have in Duke mapping there.

I confess that I don't do anything with Duke anymore and haven't played it in ages.
I make money from a source based game now instead...

If it was shortly before 10pm on March 20th that means I had "sloppy seconds".

Not me Forge, I skipped the foreplay. There were other guys ( and assorted barn animals ) waiting in line behind me.

I've got 2 community confessions for the price of one.

1. I wish I had Snowfall's mapping skill and imagination. That guy can sure churn out some large immersive maps. Even his character mostly has better weapons than mine in the AMC TC.

2. I hate corners.

shouldn't you be giving him a boomerang and a didgeridoo instead?

though I confess that the pouch would probably be handy for carrying extra ammo

-I haven't played Duke3D for a long time
-I've never finished any map I started
-I've said it before but I hate Quake. Especially 1 and 4. 2 is alright but gets boring quick.
-Also not that fond of Doom
-I like Doom 3
-I hate multiplayer only games. Even if the multiplayer is fun, I resent it for not even bothering with a proper SP campaign.
-Except for Counter-Strike
-I like linearity
-I like FPS platform puzzles
-I enjoyed DNF for what it was, even if it was a little disappointing in its total lack of features
-Not sure if this will have any effect on this community, but I think both Oblivion and Skyrim are better than Morrowind

I don't like the DNF 2013 mod, don't think it deserves the praise it got when there's better mods out there (e.g. Duke Hard) and would go "as far" as to say I like the real DNF more, but because of the provocative name and trailer it was easy bait for gaming sites to crap again on Gearbox Shoveware. (Disclaimer: I haven't tried the expansion)

I haven't played any of them but I know you might get looked down by oldschool RPG fans (morrowind is seen by some as the apogee of the series).
I've played Fallout 3 though... and hated the crap out of it - broken mechanics and boring ugly places everywhere, meaningless dialog and consequences, and stupid as fuck combat system (four grenades on top of ten bullets to kill a fucking ant, fuck this bullshit).

I..., I, um....

Sorry, this is very difficult to admit here.

I very nearly put a sprite into a level that I was working on.

Mark called an intervention and he managed to eventually talk me out of it.

I feel so dirty...

-I don't specially care about Sanek.
-I haven't played user maps in about 2 years (apart from Planet X64 II or whatever its name was - I liked it)
-Every time I think about DN3D level design I overestimate it...
-The reason REDUKED "2014" hasn't been released is a mixture of anti professionalism, procrastination, real life excuses, nick-picking, another stupid reason like: it doesn't have a proper cover artwork and a bit of depression...

-REDUKED 2014 or any related album with a name on those lines isn't gonna be released soon, not that it would be released ever...

-REDUKED 2010 - 2016 tracks are already being released publicy while you read this via soundcloud (yeah with download links) An album???? What's this 2010??? I won't make a thread about it until I finish uploading most of the tracks.

-I'm still depressed. LOL.

-I'm working with a new TC that I'm still not sure if it will be released... ever.

-I'm not sure if feeling bad or lucky to be the only mexican active mapper in this community... Prove me wrong...
