Anyone willing to try out the new pig cop? I'm really satisifed with it and I really did my best. In fact I don't know if I could do better. Of course if I get some interesting suggestions I will consider them. Pal skins are not available yet and it's not committed to SVN until I get some feedback.

I've noticed that there is some problem. When you encounter the pig it displays muzzle flash which looks bad because the pig does not shoot yet. I'm fixing it so don't worry about that.

I'm not sure I gave the poor guy a chance to shoot at me...I played a test map but forgot there aren't any lights in there...I should fix that.

Animations look good, yeah, there is that muzzleflash thing, I think it needs a stronger dose of AO to pop out the textures a bit more.

The glow map is 2048x2048 while the other skins are 1024x1024. Is this right?

I guess I should have unified this. But this doesn't affect anything and the glowmap is relatively small in comparison to other textures.

You could probably try knocking the glow down to 512, but if it looks crap, keep it at 1024

I'd say keep it at 1024. Remember, it gets laid over the original skin, so you would be losing detail (even if it's just the eyes).

From the pic, the skin looks too shiny, kind of like when you make something out of clay, gloss it, then put it through a kiln. Of course I haven't tried it in-game yet so it might not be a problem.

Anyone got an in-game video of this in action?

I agree that it looks a lot shinier than it should be. Maybe the husks should be that shiny, but both cloth and fur should be very matte.

Thanks for the feedback. I will make the mentioned adjustments soon. Tweaking animation in def is really a pain.

Ok, here is improved version. If there won't be any more comments, I shall commit it tomorrow :P

EDIT: sorry reauploaded again, but this one is really final. Now all animations are smooth like an ass of a child :)

I see you included the old 2000_pigcop_dead.png skin from the previous model. I assume that one is no longer needed and can be removed?
Additionally, all the palettes (pal 10-25) which have been defined in the def must be commented out or removed since the skins do no exist any more for your new version. The paletted skin files can be deleted as well then, unless you intend to create new ones. Which shouldn't be needed any more with the new EDuke features, I think...

Hi, I'm new around here and thought I'd say hello and share my work at the same time.

I've been making/tweaking a lot of skins for quake over on quakeone.com for a while now but have been playing DukeHRP since 1st edish!
Just thought I should get myself into the crowd!

I hope its not stepping on anyone's toes or out of line to upload this altered skin (I'm afraid I have no Idea who the original art was created by, sorry) and I also hope this is the correct thread to put it in... :)
I made it for a freind, just a change to the 'duke' symbol on the stock, the old one bugged them for some reason...

The old skin is probably a result of me selecting too many files when packing them into the zip so yeah it shouldn't be there. I left the alt pal def lines so that it was easier for me to replace them and this way I won't miss any color variation that has to be included. I will provide the alt pals soon, it's the easy part. Later I will have to do something about the recon car and the tank to preserve consistency.

You shouldn't need the alt pals at all.

I don't think the old pig cop should be replaced by this, though. Maybe we should have a poll, but from my point of view it looks inferior on most counts in its current state.

I tested the pig in game and like the model a lot, but I do think it needs a little more work. The walking cycle and movement in general is good, but the animation when he shoots needs some work...like trying to emulate the recoil from the shotgun with a quick backwards movement, a very small pause and then the reload ( the flash also needs to be there for just a second )...I left a crappy Gif that I did to explain myself.

I also think the texture needs more work... the muscles need to be more pronounced, and you can add more details in the skin ( like wrinkles in the skin of the eye sockets and around the nose ) and more textures in the clothing ( making the fabric look more realistic ) ...you can also use the alpha in the png to make the end of the pants look shredded.

I did some new grass, along with the football stadium parts and the normal map. The files are 512x512 each.

Here's a low res sample I leave the rar file attached.

They look alright from what I can see, but the colours are off
it's also way too saturated have a look at the originals

Also this is the original Duke 3D nuke symbol, not that the XBLA one is bad

Actually I think that is too desaturated, I wasn't trying to make an exact version as the original...just something similar. Still I desaturated it a little, and changed the logo for the old one.

I did a final revision for the shotgun ammo box... this time, removed the atomic logos and recreated the original Remington logo incorporating it to the design...and incorporated details made by Osjclatchford removing the percussion mark from the bottom of the shell.

And there's a new woden box design included in the zip as well... also did the new normal maps for the new textures ( I did both normal maps 0884 & 0884_d as far as I know there's only one...I don't know if you guys can use the other one. )
