Which version of Duke3D is preferred amongst fans?

All I recall of EDuke was a bunch of flat standing textures in a black void. This was before the source was released, I guess.

I think, there's shotgun animation problems too. The Devastator seems okay.

EDIT: I'm installing v2.0a later on today to see what problems it has.

EDIT2:

Screwed up:
Pistol Animation
Devastator Shoots 1 Missile
Chaingun ammo shells eject to far left
Pipebomb on timer rather than remote.

That's just what I got so far. I'll have to go back and check v2.1.1 and see if anything is fixed.

Looks like most of the weapon problems are corrected in v2.1.1.

The Example map still looks great in v2.0a fighting; ken bots in fake multiplayer :)

First off I don't know anything about "inherent right to control" anything....your completely wrong.

2nd Its okay to hate, but don't direct your self towards me just cause I think EDuke 2.0 is a fine product to have 3DR use.

You want EDuke32 so bad that you have to attack me with false accusations, go right ahead, whatever makes you hard TerminX.

Anyhow let me push the shit out of my way and say let the old timers tweak EDuke2.0 out. Nothing wrong with a few fixes.

What false accusations? A lot of people weren't willing to put up with you anymore after that and I suspect you actually remember it fairly well. You might want to think about how far you want to take your "the forum admin is LYING, that never happened, he hates me and harassing me makes him hard!" line of bs. It sounds like something someone would have posted about Joe years ago and I'm not really certain how such pathetic vitriol is helping anyone here.

I don't hate anyone--if I did, that user would end up removed before they even had a chance to claim I hated them. I want the best for a game I care very much for (hence working pretty much nonstop on our officially licensed port to Android every day) and realize that it's pretty far on the fringe for someone to actually suggest to a company that they abandon the content of newer, stable releases of the game (XBLA, Megaton, etc) in favor of updating an incomplete modification to the DOS version. It's lunacy dude. I'm pretty sure Fred was looking for actual suggestions and input here, not for ways to get the company further ridiculed by the press.

I don't know what this is "alot of people put up with me" What I know is Cyborg left, I told you then you said if hes leaving I am. That's was the end of that.

But the whole EDuke thing at RTCM had nothing to do with me. It was Usurper who made it and what not. Who he had joined was his speal. So your still remembering wrong.

Anyhow I still stick by what I said about DOS EDuke in previous posts.

Is the Android port that you're talking about in beta at this moment?
Because i'm a beta tester of that port and i wanna say that you guys did a great job, because it looks and plays great.
The upcoming features sound awesome btw, can't wait to see it.

You do realize your entire list is two features known to be under development, which we disable at compile time for Android, right?

Were you actually aware that EDuke32 is already being turned into a commercial version of Duke3D for Android? It's going really well and everyone who plays on the PC benefits as well since we are not forking/branching the code. There have been a remarkably low number of deficiencies to deal with due to EDuke32's nearly 10 year development history, so things are going very smoothly.

Our version of Polymost is much more complete (and now something like twice as fast...) compared to any other version of the game and we're making improvement after improvement in area after area in preparation for the release. I've even optimized the C version of the classic renderer, even though it's only used for security cameras on Android. To me, the most important thing about this release is that it completely kicks ass and does the game the justice it deserves. There's no reason an equally awesome, definitive version for the PC can't be created as well!

TerminX - You and your dev team kick ass! Keep up the great work, this was very exciting to read! Thank you!

Yep, that's the one! Expect some major updates to come soon as it gets closer to an official release. The framerate of the newer builds is up by over 400% (!) in some cases as I've been working my ass off optimizing things, a new startup screen I designed is being implemented by Emile, we're working on the resource pack which will be included (new menu UI, etc), Evan is adding mouse/touch support to the main game menus which themselves are being restructured to both be more logical in nature, and also to remind players more of the original DOS version, and there are definitely some other surprises in store. :)

Seems things are looking up quite a bit for the Android port.

Is there any hope of it coming to iOS in the future? The current Duke port there is a half-assed, outdated joke.

We've shopped it to Scott, and Emile has his libraries partially working on iOS. Short answer: we're hopeful. :)

The new features sound exciting, will the performance improvements carry over to things in Eduke32 like say the showview command and stuff? (I know the screenshot of the higher res security feed is probably the answer to that question but I just wanted to be sure)

Apple is the new Microsoft, ruling the market with barely functional products and outdated technology.

iTunes is one of the worst programs ever created by man. "Syncing" does jack shit - especially considering its the main way of adding music back and forth between an iPod Touch and the computer. Most of the time it barely works as in transfers only half the music and sometimes deletes stuff off your iPod Touch for no apparent reason. I gave up and got an Android Phone (Xperia Play) instead and I've never looked back. Now, I've got a Nexus 4 however MTP works only when it wants to so I suppose I'm right back at square one.

So, this went from the official 3DR "we want to make an official extra version of Duke 3D, what should we use?" thread to a
"Eduke32 vs Megaton vs Dos eduke 2.x (Posted Image)" thread to a
"Eduke32 on Android" development thread to a
"iPhone vs Android" thread to a
"Apple vs Microsoft" thread to a
"Bloated software" discussion.

I feel as though this should have split into another thread some discussions ago...

No, that's stupidity on the user's part. It's not automatically added to your device unless you have auto-download enabled. That whole outburst was retarded. It's free, if you don't like it delete it. "Forced". Pfft. People are morons.

Also, if you don't like that they gave you something free against your will or without your consent, don't agree to the ToS, because you agreed to allow them to do that. Stop using the software. Don't continue to use it and then just complain.

Yes, the performance improvements carry over to PC. I actually did all of the optimization work on an i7. We might have to call it EDuke33 now because of how much faster it is.

That's more like it.
I assume when he says HD, he's meaning the same crap that NUKEMDAVE always goes on about by ruining the textures with 32 bit high res ones.
