3D Realms Shutting Down

@Micki!'s pictures
Fantastic!
I like the first one better though, because it's more subtle.
Also, it's ironic that Duke goes from tipping strippers $100 a pop to getting raped by octabrains for a buck.

LOL well he has 4,999,999 more octobrains to service if he only charges a buck. Thats dedication my friends.

Duke looks SO SAD.

He's been violated.. I would describe it more like he's about to have a nervous breakdown. Grey hairs and mood swings.. sad.. he's beyond that.

It is good that there are people like you... ...otherwise they wouldn't have known that they fucked up.

Are you serious or just making fun of yourself...???

Yeah I'm serious, I'm not going to sugar coat anything for those assholes. I feel very bad for the employees but I don't feel the slightest bad for the dumb asses in management

Evidently SHXIII didn't consider the possibility that the current situation could have been caused by the current economic crisis and maybe wasn't entirely the managements fault. But your right.. let's call em fucking pieces of shit pig fucking asshole cocknuggets because .. well you gotta blame someone to make yourself feel good, right?

I'll wait for the facts, ty.

Yeah I'm blaming them it would be typical of the douche bags in management to blame the economy for the company going under instead of taking responsibility for the 14 year development joke wasting funds after funds. 3DR still apparently has a lot of you by your dicks dragging you around

Check this link out, something peculiar is going around there.
After there were some 3d characters released on duke4.net earlier today made by this guy, now everything there, is marked as "Sorry, Duke Nukem Forever images are not available online until the game ships" but no sign of the screens that were posted on duke4.net today!
So I wonder when he added that text there.
Was it before Joe Siegler said that 3drealms is kicking the bucket or was it after he released his old 3d model screens on duke4.net today?
Check it out and say what do you think about it.

If that "Sorry, Duke Nukem Forever images are not available online until the game ships" text was put there today or yesterday, chances are that this guys knows something about Duke Nukem forever actually shipping lol.

Well...oh well it's not like we didn't see what was up there.

I don't think he knows anything honestly. Just more fuel to the fire though for those that are still working that.

To be fair, with no statement as of yet, nobody has heard them blaming the economy. They've been the first to admit for years now that they've fucked up. I ain't happy about it either, but here we are.

And 14 years?

I understand I was just saying it would be typical for them to blame the economy as a cop out

That message could have been there forever for all we know.
Did you check the site earlier to see if the images were ever there?

Hardly.. I just don't care either way. I don't know George and placing blame somewhere won't solve anything. So he restarted the game a few times. Four words: "Yeah And So What?" Companies money and their waste. Their problem and they're dealing with it. Wasn't my funds. If closing up shop, dropping your devs, writing recommendations to help their future and even apparently preparing an official statement that's not even required of him.. isn't taking responsibility then what is? No really.. I'm curious as to just how you think he needs to take responsibility?

No but I think Yatta and/or Sayantan(if there is such a user here) can clarify this issue.
They are the ones that got those pics there and I think they know more than we all do about them.

He honestly doesnt have to do jack squat. He could flip us off and tell us how he thinks we can all lick his scrotum and goto hell if he wanted to and not say a thing about duke. It would be respectful to his fans that have been following the project over the years to say something.

So am I to a degree. But I've come down to one thing. I'm not getting the sequel to Duke3d that I wanted so much. No blame I can pass around will change that in any way.

Personally I'm far more interested in just what kind of contract Take 2 had with 3dr that did not involve the standard publisher funding.. which is supposed to be part of what publishers do. If you think about it.. 3dr had a pretty crappy deal going on. Non-funding publisher with partial rights and 3dr with IP rights but they have to fully fund their own project. I can only assume they got some nice moneyz in the past for selling those publishing rights. :P

As I understood it, Scott Miller's Gathering of developers had the publishing rights. Then Take 2 bought them and thus got the publishing rights.

Ahhh so I guess there wasnt any bonus or cash deals to begin with since Scott Miller partially owned 3DR anyway. Yea bummer!

-Should of done a clause in the contract that when GOD gets bought out by another company a deal between the publisher and 3DR has to be renegotiated to prevent 3DR from being screwed. Wishful thinking.

Didn't know that. That clears up things a bit.
I thought the pictures were only on this site!
I guess Yatta should have mentioned where he got them from in the news.

I thought GT interactive was going to publish first. Then Infogrames bought GT interactive followed by Take 2 buying Infogrames and GoD branch of Take-2 getting the publishing rights until that branch closed and finally Take-2 just keeping it.

Confusing.. I know. Still, point being that it's strange to have a non-funding game developer. They probably should have hammered out a new contract somehow. too bad.

Generally the best publisher deal you can make is one that does _not_ involve ongoing funding, ie. if you can pay for it yourself and just let the publisher handle distribution and marketing you will get higher royalty percentages and better conditions.

If you make a deal with on-going funding you'll get lower royalties, and certain minimum number of sales have to be met before you start getting cash etc, so that the publisher get all the money back the paid you.

So no, them not getting the developement funded does not make it a "crappy deal", it makes it the best possible deal you can make as an independent developer if you can afford that luxury.
