The 3DR Forums & Website will be moving to a new server either on Thursday the 14th or Friday the 15th. They will be unavailable during that time. The forums will stay up as long as possible until such a point is reached where they have to be closed for the move to preserve data.
When they return, they will be on a new server, but they will most definitely return!

So why exactly do they have to take down the site to move it to a new server? Why can't they just set it up on the new server and simply change the address the domain? Databases?
Whats actually more strange to me is that 3drealms is hosted on a godaddy account (like many others of their sites), so why do they need to change server at all? A godaddy "Unlimited+ Plan" costs roughly about 300$ a year. Also you have to pay in advance or it gets shut down! So their server payments run out exactly on friday? What a coincidence? They can't afford a 300$ a year webhost?
Or do they have a dedicated server?
Its just looking a bit wierd to me. Wouldn't they rather be setting up a new site and forum and thats why they have to take down the site?
Or could it be that they are changing to a bigger hosting plan because their servers were maxed out from the duke4ever hype? Are they expecting more traffic to come with some anouncement? And add the locking of threads to that.
Of course the simplest explanation is still that they closed and the game is unfinished ect. and I feel sorry for their employees.
