RELEASE: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER 2013  "it wasn´t a hoax."

it's so funny that they spout "freedom to express your thoughts", but completely contradict themselves with negative reactions to what doesn't cater to their point of view.
not everyone can get along, but this kind of hypocrisy is what makes me take any constructive criticism i may have about this mod to a different forum

I'm really digging this mod, as Forge mentioned I will write a review for scent-88, so a more detailled opinion will follow.

Also, the levels didn't feel any more linear to me then your average user map, so it wasn't really an issue for me. Although some parts could have been expanded, for example the western town would have been even better if the player could visit each building. It isn't a big deal though, overall I thought the levels were really well designed.

anyway I'm taking my comments to CGS where they're easier to ignore and the moral crusading emos won't get butt-hurt when i make a sly remark to tease somebody and poke fun at myself

Look, Forge, I thought you'd understand this with all the downvoting, but apparently you won't. If you want to continue with this bullshit offtopic and flaming posting, then perhaps you should also take yourself to CGS. At least for a while.

this^
it's amusing to get the admin wanna be self elected forum police crowd irritated

my last comment to deeperthought was to deeperthought - if you don't like it, don't read it. move on. freedom of speech and all that which you claim to be so fond of. i'm not flaming anybody unless the shoe fits.

the minimal amounts of constructive criticism is actually due to lack of time to play the mod, and i'd rather post my observations at the other forum anyway.
it's a smaller community so the lack of nonsensical posts like this one don't clutter up the thread

I can't stop playing the bike part. Ever since Muelsa made his bike, I always hoped for a good road map to be made. This mod so far is the closest thing to that. It's what I always wanted for Duke! :)

I love the entire second map. It's like a true mission, and almost commercial quality.

i'd have rather seen dirt bike trails instead of open highway - with lots of little jumps, trees to avoid, etc. -maybe have it go through a large water drainage pipe with a stream running through it and have it come out on a gravel road where you can peel out and do broadies

Yep, I was somewhat curious when I played why it was called EDF Headquarters because you didn't arrive until late in the level. But then you have lots of gameplay in EDF HQ thus justifying map's name. Buildup was great with all the infected soldiers you saw at the road, but arrived to HQ in its still pristine condition.

Is there any way i can take look into the big maps in mapster because allot of them are outside of the sector( the black sector). I want to know how make the train work like in map 2?

I was wondering, mostly in passing at this point. Would the developers mind if Vinny and I made use of some of the sprites/graphics in Duke Nukem The Series? Full credit to the original artists would be given in the end credits, of course.

I remember hearing you guys mentioning that Lezing is MIA - so if I wanted to use the bike code for another project should I try and reach him as well or would permission from you guys be enough? (Bear in mind the project, which is very obvious what it is, won't be out for a very long time so it wouldn't be taking any thunder from this mod)

Thanks, but how do I run eduke32 with those command arguments on a mac?

The same way. You run them from the OS X terminal emulator (which is in Applications -> Utilities, I believe), which is essentially a standard Unix shell.

I assume you mean the grid. Open up mapster32.cfg, and there's a line that says editorgridextent. You can change the number to over 500000 which ought to cover it.

Btw, if you want to develop a map for this mod, you should talk about it over at CGS where your post isn't going to be buried by everyone else talking about random stuff. I mean, unless you care about rep points Posted Image

I´d ask him first. His permission has been made solely for this mod. I doubt he´s going to say no, and he answers relatively fast. The problem with us was that we wanted him to fix some stuff and he didnt really have time for that.

Completely approved!

I'll release the gloves if it's okay with the original author who made the pack.

I prefer you don´t do that. If people start making that kind of things this mod will be raped and degenerated to a popular mod in a matter of weeks. I´m the one on charge to decide which changes can be made, and I´m probably going to do them myself If we ever update it.

Quote

Also, any plans for supporting DP down the road?

No.

I feel like mouse turning should be disabled on the bike, since it turns much more naturally with the strafing keys.

That was one of the requests I had in mind for Lezing. I also wanted to use the lookleft lookright buttons to be somehow linked with the mouse.

Interceptor Entertainments Dave Oshry has done a full playthrough of the Duke Nukem Forever mod.

Yes, that´s a really cool playthrough. But he missed tons of references.

Now here are a few notes to no one in particular on things that I think need to be improved (mostly coding stuff that I or Mikko could do):

The only update I´d be interested at this point is with regards to the bike problems and missing speedometer and some fixes to the boss, If Mikko likes that last idea. I, by no means, will do any kind of gameplay deviations from the original game like changing projectile damage or adding an air metter.

@DarkCaleb: That map looks cool but I don´t know how you´ll go around adding that art. I won´t include new art for this mod unless it´s done by myself or provided by somebody expressly. With very minor exceptions that I´d probably remove with time, I don´t want ripped art.

An air meter doesn't change gameplay, it simply shows the player how much air he has left. And I wasn't proposing changing projectile damage, only the art for them so that they would look better. As for the boss: it's not broken, but it could be a lot better.

There may be room for new things If we do an update, but I´d not use an air metter unless it is a gauge connected to the scuba hose or something via art.

Yes, It´s all yours if you want it for the voxel pack. I also did the bike, the donkey and the M16 but those wont fit in your pack (edit and the edf logo and some others) :)

if you get enough interest and people involved i could make a secret squirrel thread at CGS for the mappers (and Gambini & Mikko to answer questions) so you can develop projects in peace, but you could probably arrange that here just as well
if quiet but public is tolerable then CGS would work out better

i can't help it. they're so funny. didn't you read what Cathy posted?
actually trying to use them to coerce me/shut me up/make me go away/etc.

trying to intimidate me just encourages me to rankle them as much as possible. the rep points are meaningless

No, frankly I'm just downvoting you because it pisses you off and it makes me laugh when you rage. But keep believing what you want to believe.

lmao!
i raged to get more downvotes cause they made me laugh

 Fox, on 03 May 2013 - 05:28 PM, said:

Yeah, back then Blue Lightning complained about the votes all the time, so I have make sure to downvote every single post of his.

i never complained about getting downvotes - i was actually trying to collect them because i figured i was irritating certain individuals. now that i found out that one of the individuals actually didn't care and thought it was funny the exact same time i didn't care and thought it was funny - all the fun has deflated out of it -
so your downvotes let me know you care - thanks (man-hug)

FAN-TAS-TIC MOD!

Well, so much for all the Duke mappers trying to one up Gambini with single duke map. I guess Gambini pretty much takes the cake again for a long time now. Back to the drawing board. Damnit! =P

@ Mikko - That was a dam impressive map!

It's what I've always wanted for Duke. Some race mod with awesome tracks and online compatibility! Sort of like Mario Kart, but for Duke. :)

If the mod would have been longer, then there would have been more bike sections for sure. It simply can´t take more than certain percentage of the overall timeplay because not everybody likes it so much.
