Man, it's been so many years since I've played Hexen 2 that I barely even remember sheep mode. Damn old mushy brain!

I just bought the game - not because I think it will be any good, I have no expectations over it but because I've read Dave's blogpost. You represent some sort of idea that I like - crazy, mad and absurd that just takes big balls to do in the era of overbudgeted game schlocks. I this could be the way to purify the industry from what it become - fat and bloated with lowest common denominator as the new customer's standard. Self published projects via digital distribution with little to none financial backing and full creative independence, run efficently, cost-savy with reasonable goals without need to supply the hungry corporate hydra above them. Hope You will fill the financial goals and next time go with something own - or just buy a house whatever fits.

Heretic/Hexen has had first-person polymorphism for years. In ROTT's case, Dog mode is just Tom Hall being Tom Hall.

However the two don't work the same way. Heretic/Hexen has it as a punishment with weak attacks and low HP. ROTT just makes you overly powerful

From PAX Melbourne.

I hope ROTT's been reasonably well optimised for ATI cards. I know Inteceptor's a small team, but it would suck if the game's unplayable on most folks setups because of the Nvidia enhancements.

Fresch doesn't get haircuts. It's covered in a thick layer of lacquer so it will be perfect for eternity.

That might be because Dave has been giving out review codes to various key people over the last few days/week.

Oh I know, I was just kind of hoping he'd get one.

Just been reading the first few pages of this thread, it's golden. We gave these guys such a hard time, the award goes to Deviance though.

Come on man, what's so hard to figure out there?
That option clearly deals with the sound that the shadows make in the game when they rub against the environment.

Actually that option might have something to do with how sounds might be cached or compressed in the game I think.
I like the advanced options menu, I think it has quite a few selectable features there that should be present in all pc games.

Update:
It's bounds not sounds, I'm blind apparently but at least Mikko C also saw it like that...
Now that it's been determined that it's bounds instead of sounds, I can no longer understand why DaveyDoomsday wrote "dafuq" next to that option?
It's pretty easy to realize that option deals with the enabling or disabling of a shadow drawing optimization...

Deviance got to complaining before he even read the stupid thing.

Cut Mr D. some slack, I also read Sounds. Bounds makes a lot more sense though.

Read it as Bounds from the get-go. Going by other Unreal Engine Games, I'm going to assume it either tightens the range of which a shadow can hit and render on a nearby surface, or lowers their resolution.

Just four days left! I'm pretty hopeful ROTT won't disappoint. At least there haven't been any passive-aggressive twitter remarks or forum posts about the review build. Reviewers seem pretty buzzed about it. The launcher options are way more detailed than I was expecting. I hope it runs reasonably well on ATI cards - I should've bought an Nvidia card!

I wasn't complaining, I just made a stupid joke because I was as fucking puzzled as everybody that read sounds instead of bounds because such an option obviously doesn't exist..
Mikko C also saw it sounds instead of bounds...
That font is all caps and shows all the letter curves as sharp edges... Not the most readable of fonts out there when you don't even zoom the pic and you are reading technical options.
Either way, I was blind so it's my bad.

Does it?
Everything on lights with Unreal.

I still have no idea what the setting is supposed to do. Posted Image

Don't know if it has something to do with it.

"This entry illustrates one way compute conservative shadow bounds for improved stenciled shadow volume performance. It computes a 3D screen space rectangle that can be used to scissor and depth_bounds_test away updates to pixels that the light will not affect."

http://developer.dow...olume_intersect

In the end a descriptive text field that explains what this does would have helped. You hover the mouse over the setting in the launcher and it explains what the heck this setting means. Like in the nVidia control panel for example.

Yeah, Because it looks like take long time to download the whole game... if we can pre-load the game it would be awesome(at least on Steam...)!
