Duke 3D Voxel Pack

Well, i am using one official voxel in the pack, which would be the portable med-kit, but thats the only one i could find. If i were to get all of the ones that he made that would be awesome though.

Edit: Well, i sent them some messages about it. Hopefully they still have some of them.

It may just be the bad perspective that the image uses, but honestly most of those look pretty bad.

Holy crap! This is extremely interesting considering I have heard rumours that 3DR was planning to release an Atomic Edition 1.7 patch around the time of Shadow Warrior, which would have included some bug fixes, possibly ROR, and voxels.

EDIT: And while it is true, some of those don't look like they're all too great (though it could be perspective) these would be very very helpful to projects such as this and the HRP. Finally we would actually know what some of these things were supposed to look like in a 3D manner.

Well, i got a message back from GBX and they told me to talk to 3DR. Good thing i sent a message to both of them about the voxels for Duke3D.

That's cool! I wonder if it'd make better looking voxels than the MD2->KVX converter.

"I am sorry but I have looked at where they would be and if we had them we do not any more."

Hello,

i like using your voxels models. I've made some changes for myself with SLAB6 voxel editor (tripmine and keys more thick)

I'd like to know if you've done others models, are you plan to put an update of your models soon ?

Don't know if you guys are aware of something called Qubical Constructor? The full version that has all the exporters is charged for but it's only 40 bucks.

I don't know if that would be very useful, Eduke32 uses KVX format for all its voxels. I suppose i could use slab to convert the VOX to KVX though.

I'm not sure on voxel formats (not my thing) but I thought the program might be useful. Hopefully there is some way of cross-porting the voxel files into a format that Duke uses - but I have no knowledge of the tools or formats. I'd leave that up to you guys.

I remember there being talk of a lack of tools for voxel creation, so if I spot something, I'll point it out.

Also, as a side note Spirrwell had put together a nice installer for the pack, so thats going to be a option to download for the next release.

Just as a side note, I'm pretty sure Silverman made tools that can convert all forms of voxels amongst each other. They'd be on his website.

Also as an aside, I was looking into the Shadow Warrior voxels for something, and that camera voxel in Dirk Jones' picture up there is in Shadow Warrior. I can't remember if it was used in game or not.

Do any of you know what is causing this problem with my voxel model? Appears fine in SLAB6 but not build. Is it the palette? If so should I create a new palette for each voxel model?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked very carefully through this thread and saw the 'replace palette and convert colors' and it actually turned out quite nice without changing the colors to much. :unsure:

One more piece of news, i will be putting a new download up since megaupload went down and thats were the first release was; so as soon as the devastator is finished expect a new release. :D

You should be able to see the rest of the barrels from the front view. That's how it is from first person view and also in Heavy Weapons Dude sprites.
