The girls aren't models. This is 1995 technology - uncanny valley would be quite obvious if they were actually model renders. While it's true that some have pixel work done to them, you can clearly see use of footage in some of the sprites (particularly cheerleader/tribal/red dancer) and the animated walls.

Lameduke however, has a few models that are extremely Poser 4-esque. Mspaint didn't exist then either.

Joe Siegler mentioned that the two strippers were the same girl - meaning they were not 3D models or hand-drawn.

Is anyone planning to chop any of Fox's pics into a skybox? Or are they not suitable.

Maybe they are, but the way the game is hard-coded to mix 8 pieces in the sky is quite disappointing.

The blood from enemy sprites was not so 3D as the models they originated from:

That's all I got.

The pistol is not far from the actual gun (it also mention the dum-dum bullets), but the only thing left from the rest is the missile ammo.

"Y'know i'm a not a very good shot but "The Samaritan" here has really big bullets." - Hellboy.

That's pretty much all that comes to mind, and even that isn't quite the right size! Posted Image

That's really cool to see Fox, thank you for sharing. Never thought anything like that was released for the N64 version. I love this thread. Posted Image

I think the 20mm has something to do with the laser sight: http://www.ebay.com/...cat=0&_from=R40

Nah it specifically says "20MM ammo"

Not really surprising for a 1990's video game though! Posted Image

I think the "AMMO" part refers to the images on the right.

You could be right, Fox.

Either way, the gun that ended up in the game is pretty obviously meant to be a Colt 1911, which is .45 ACP.

As I said a long time ago;

I found my VHS. Volume is a little low, if that really is a problem I can go back and press normalize.

About 14-15 seconds in.

So the battlelord roar is actually the sound of a train falling off a cliff?

No stranger than the Godzilla roar being recorded from a cello.

If you look closely, it seems that the roaring sounds starts when the semi hits the car, then stops once the car is off the road. More specifically, the battlelord roar may be the sound of a 70s sports car sliding off a road in slow motion.

So, how was the sound acquired by 3DR? Did it originate from this film and then was digitized and put on a sound compilation that 3DR happened to pickup? Was the sound always part of a sound compilation that the makers of that movie used as well?

I have heard it in other films. It us usually used when metal is mangled for some reason, but with all that metal on the BLORD maybe his vocal cords are also steel?

Dark Forces has a scream if you fall that I have heard in loads of films and TV shows.

Thus I believe that it was probably common practise to purchase a sound effects library on disc or tape and use that.

Yeah, it's just a sound from a sound effects library.

You'd be surprised how a lot of sound effects are made. (Another interesting video.)

I thought I'd share this video I left on my alt for awhile now:

Description:

Quote

A very strange video from Sega's website in 1997. Notice how enemies are dying as if they were frozen and how many shots it takes to kill an enemy?

http://web.archive.o...ukem3d/fallout/

Also, check out how the entrance to the bathroom in Red Light District is bricked out by a wall.

I'll admit, Kathy. The conversations I've been having online lately have been a little flamier than merited. Now you're just asking for it. The video was the first thing I saw the morning I posted that, so I saw a train instead of a semi. I had seen the mistake quite a few times but didn't think anyone cared anymore. So sue me.
