I've been doing some weapon work for my character today, I redid the devastator as well as the railgun. The source image I used for the railgun is this weapon from red faction 2.
I'm pretty happy with it!

Thanks you all! Originally I wanted the final frame of that gif as the weapon's firing animation, but that looks a bit dull now so I'll have to create some extra muzzle flashes next week (and have the weapon animate between lit and non-lit in its normal state). The screenshot is from my SP map btw, which'll be the first playable map of the mod. Which is why I'm not posting much shots at the moment

Urgh - I've been working all day on this machinegun replacement for my character. My main source image is [this], and [this] for the hand.
I didn't like the way it turned out though - it was too small and just didn't match the other weapons I had so I frankensteined it, pasting stuff from other guns on it (including the red faction rocket launcher):
In the end it looks nice enough so I'll keep it

slo-mo looks nothing like....slo-mo? It's not really bullet-time in anycase though, the game just slows down when you gib something. It serves no gameplay function.

First the black bars, at first I thought it was actually a cutscene.
Then, sound and music are exactly in the same tone so it feels like we're still in normal time.
Add to this the fact that the transition is very quick and without any kind of effect..
The first time I saw this I didn't even realize it made the game slower to be honest. I just thought it was some kind of cutscene in which the character was trying to show off by finishing them a couple of bullets at a time.

Sounds do play slower - ones already playing can't slow down but I can't do anything about that (same goes for music) Watch one of the videos I've posted since the quality is very low on that video.

I think it looks cool, that's all the reason I need. I'm not a 'if it has no gameplay function it shouldn't be here' person though. I love useless shit in games.

Yeah - it's definitely the video quality: the screen gets a darker tone, and the game and all of the sound slow down for a short amount of time. It's really cool actually - too bad the video shows it so poorly.

I was really surprised when you walked outside and there was a big contrast, that was really cool. I was like WOW!
As for the slow downs, for me it looks like a really fun addition.

Glad to see it went over well, and thanks for the comments Just to let you all know that even though we've been posting alot of deathmatch and invasion media the best aspect of this mod really is the single player campaign - which we're all doing our best work for.

im trying to do the same with my mod. i mite just find a way to mix it into another mod? it's really just one huge world map with smaller detailed maps mixed into it. and thanks to DP+ im figgering out how thay did the doors in there world map.
basicly in mine its: alians distroyed your ride. you start off in a 3 minute free fall with 100s of enemys to shot on your way down. and i timed the fall to work with a midi's song. when the songs about to ends you fall passed an open door into the base and land in water. then, start the game.
i hope to make something like this soon for a world map. and if i can, it'll be where the whole game starts from.
