On many platforms these days, Watchtower's post would have gotten him banned for transphobia. And I think that's clearly the kind of forum you have been pushing for here with your calls for a more professionally run atmosphere and callouts of bad posts by members. But here's the thing: your response to him, which was heartfelt and not trolling for once, actually illustrates the value of having a forum that is a free speech zone. He didn't like your reply but he read it. Now he's not going around thinking that he lives in an echo chamber community, he knows that his view is challenged even if the people he meets in his everyday life don't challenge it openly. I'm not suggesting for a moment that there shouldn't be any limits at all, and there is plenty of room for improvement around here, to say the least. For my part I would never tolerate flaming in any thread that was seriously about the games that we make here. If someone started doing that in any of my serious threads, like for my Alien Armageddon mod, the posts would be removed, the person would be warned and if they kept it up they would be banned. Same goes for AMC or any other serious project thread around here. It seems to me if you had an ongoing interest Build projects you might notice that the game threads are pretty clean. Threads like this which were rants from their very conception are obvious exceptions.

If you actually care about the games so much, you could try playing the games that some of us work very hard on and contribute to the commentary threads about them, but instead you act just like the people that you despise and get sucked into flame wars. You can say that it's just meaningless entertainment to goad people and let off steam, but keep in mind that's exactly what the people you hate will say when pressed (and I don't think anyone is lying if they say that).

I will concede that I'm happy to have Discord servers now where my active projects are discussed. You will find absolutely zero flaming or bigotry on those servers, because people simply come there to talk about the projects or have normal gaming conversations. No moderation has been required to keep things that way, but moderation would be used if people got out of line. But you don't see this because you assume that threads like this represent people who play Build games. I can assure you that there is a real community who enjoy our games and have nothing to do with the shitshows that go on in threads like this.
