Hi, i'm having problems getting the xxx pack to work with HRP. (version 4.0 (321) )
I downloaded it from the HRP yesterday and in the readme file it says it should work with version 4 but non of the sprites or posters are being replaced.

Strange thing is it was working with an older version of HRP before i updated it. <_<

You might need to delete the texture cache files.
Another reason could be that the format of some files might have changed (e.g. from jpg to png) so the DEF files would need a patch. But I don't think so since my custom xxx_pack version is still working.

Since your log looks OK I think it's time for some trial and error unless someone else comes up with a better idea.
(Remember to delete your texture cache before every new try.)
First, delete eduke32.cfg, disable polymer in the startup screen and see what happens.
(Getting a current eduke build [ http://dukeworld.duk.../20100123-1594/ ] won't hurt.)
I somehow suspect that the HRP installer does not work correctly for everyone or that there is a possibility for a user's installation error that cannot be tracked down afterwards. You could try a manual installation.

A batch file for starting up Duke manually could look like this:
SET HRP=autoload/duke3d_hrp.zip
SET XXX=autoload/xxx_pack.zip
start eduke32.exe -noautoload /g%HRP% /g%XXX%


Oh, and after reviewing your log once more, I think you might want to update to Windows XP (5.1.2600) Service Pack 3 and install the latest NVIDIA driver for your graphics card.

I did a clean install of Duke 3d and installed the HRP using the ZIP file instead of the installer,seemed to have fixed the problem. <_<

Hellow ! First post here for a long time fan of Duke 3D =)

Anyway ! It seems the "music problem" wasn't really solved yet... and unfortunately, I have this very problem.
In the "Sound setup" menu, the music volume is greyed out, however the Music option is on "On"... And can't be turned off at all actually.

Before anyone tells me to install it : Yes, OpenAL is installed AND I restarted my computer =)
And Yes, I tried to delete the whole eduke32_mus.zip folder but I don't even have the standard midi if I do so. The eduke32_mus.zip folder is properly placed in autoload\duke3d.grp\ folder, the music.def is placed properly in the "highres" folder, it's a mystery.

I even tried to install the latest version (Polymer HRP 4.2) but well... When I run it, I have the basic old vanilla Duke 3D with no improvements, which is not really the whole idea of a high-res pack =P

First off, make sure you do not have duke3d.def and duke3d_hrp.def laying around in your EDuke32 directory.
Second, grab the most recent SVN build of EDuke32. At this posting, it happens to be 1640.
Once you run it, please post the contents of eduke32.cfg and settings.cfg (formerly eduke32_binds.cfg).

Problem solved by using the 1640, it didn't work with 1638.

Okay. Here is the problem. The game will mostly crash at middle of loading map. The specs are Ati Radeon 9600, 512 Ram and 1,6 ghz. I am using March 10, 2010 build.

Press and hold space to skip the loading of textures during map load, this may make certain parts of the map lag for certain instances while the textures are loaded on the fly.

Yeah, it worked. I got past E4L1, but in next level, it crashed middle of game.

Still not working. Played E1L1, but when loading E1L2, it gave Windows swap memory is too small error and crashed the game.

Do you increased your Windows virtual memory(swap memory) size?
You have 512MB RAM, try setting about 1GB-1.5GB(1024MB-1536MB).

Out of memory is not totally fault of eduke32.

Hi,

i tried to find a solution in the forum, but was not abled to find someone with the same problem.

On starting Duke 3D Atomic Ed. in Eduke32 with HRPeverything works fine but as soon as the Menu pops up white and grey boxes are there instead of the options (see atached image) ...in the game all HUD-Elements are missing as well...all other high res textures are available. Without the HRP everything works like a charm.

the eduke32.log delivers some OpenGL Errors i think

System: Windows 7 32Bit, 4GB memory, C2D E6700, Sapphire Radeon HD4870 1GB, latest Catalyst drivers. Open GL Extensions viewer reports no missing Extensions up to OpenGL 3.3

It worked all fine on my parents System with a C2Q and a Geforce-Card.

If somebody could help it would be highly appreciated.

The latest ATI drivers seem to have issues with displaying the textures at the moment.
The only thing I can suggest for now is to back date to version ati driver 10.5 (one that I am still using with no problems)

Hi everybody,

I'm having crashing problems with eduke32 version 1.9.9.9 (build 20100705), HRP Polymer 4.2.132 and Atomic edition duke3d.grp

The game seems to crash randomly after a few minutes of play (only tried E1L1 so far).

I tested with Catalyst drivers version 10.4 and 10.8, same result, only the tile problem appearing with 10.8

My configuration :

MB : Gigabyte GA-EP35 DS4
CPU : C2Q 9450
RAM : Corsair 4 GB DDR2
GC : Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB
OS : Windows 7 64 bit

Duke nukem levels are messed up, for example, one of the urinals in E1M1 is sideways, the fence in e1m1 (in beggining of level) has an opening.

Hi, I want to play duke3d with the awesome hrp but I have a problem with the opengl support.

here's my log:

I have successfully installed eduke32 and duke polymer,but when I start playing,The eduke32.log show two warning,Is this normal or I have made some mistake in installation procedure?

Don't worry that's completely normal. In fact, in the past there used to be more than two warnings IIRC. The main thing though is that there are no errors, and thankfully the line says 'two warnings, zero errors.' Although, even if it does say there are errors, but the game runs anyway, then who cares? But yes we all get the warnings.

Your graphics card is too old. You need a device that supports shader model 3.0, at least nVidia GeForce 6 series (which is way too slow).

Ok,I feel a little disappointed ,never mind... :blink:
correct me if I'm wrong,I have download duke nukem 3d with 8 expansion,(don't worry I have them all ),The reason to download that rar file is to learn how to play all the expansion using eduke32,then I shocked :blink:
the file I downloaded contain only each add on rgp file with it's game.con,(dc.grp and dcgame.con) no user.con or def.con
To it:
Duke it out in D.C expansion has "DC.grp","DCGAME.con","DCUSER.con"and "DCDEF.con",the file I downloaded contain only :"DC.grp","DCGAME.con" and that applied to all other expansion like extreme and dukezone2

CAN I play duke expansion with eduke32 using only game.con ,is this possible?

Yes, if the other needed CONs are contained in the GRP file.
