My thoughts exactly, they were playing so badly that they managed to make Duke3D look boring

Right? One of the worst bits for me was the part with the player going up and down the cinema stairs like a dog looking for a ball.

Or using steroids while standing on the toilet and standing still for literally 5+ seconds.

I wonder what other awesome new lines are in the game. Even the re-recordings sound lifeless. Anyone notice the sfx sound shit too? Sounds like they exported them to another format at some abysmal bitrate.

EDIT: nm, reading backwards and others already talked about this!

Jesus christ what happened to the sounds! The dichotomy between the quality of the sound effects and the voices make for an incomfortable result too. Thank fuck we should able to replace the sounds with the original ones. If it uses another audio format and the old files can't be used directly, I hope someone here will make a better conversion. If not, at least someone will make the new episode work in EDuke32 and let us play with the original sounds.

Modern gaming "features", jesus this is getting worse by the second.
The only good thing about that video is that you can turn off the dynamic lights by the press of a key.
Edit : I don't know how Randy can claim this is about "the old content after 20 years" when in fact it's more like a few months because of him

At least Megaton paid royalties for the stuff used from EDuke32.
I should make a twitter account just to answer that.
As for this potential "definitive release".... Fool me once...

As much as I want this I don't know if Gearbox/Randy would really make the effort to port old console titles.

Cheers for posting.
I like the lightning, to be honest. And that you can switch between original and "new" lightning in on click. IGN failed hard to find the mighty kick on the controller it seems

Oh, and see if you can spot the drum & bugle corps influence in one of the level tracks.

Also this is horrible looking and I am glad I bought the game back in '96 and I look forward to using EDuke32 to play the new episode because this makes me sad.

Maybe we could also get the new music in MIDI form? That way the new stuff can be added to the vanilla game?

Did you personally take care of how the old musics would sound? What treatment did they have?
Judging from the IGN videos they don't sound bad but it's hard to tell considering the volume is rather low.
Edit : Looks like the XBOX Pre-order page has an additional screenshot
Edit 2 : Found another screenshot
And another ?
Anyone here with an XBOX ONE and a PS4 could take a look at the pre order page and take better pictures of the new screenshots? Even if it's with a phone. Thanks.

At first I figured that something must have gone wrong while recording the video footage, but that doesn't explain the rift in clarity between sound effects and music/voice acting.
Speaking of the latter; while sound quality will probably be fixed, the newly recorded Duke Nukem lines are possibly even worse than I anticipated and to think that this is the Duke Nukem 3D that future players are going to be familiar with is depressing.
The only remedy would be to have JSJ re-re-record his voice work with the original "gritted teeth" approach (that he apparantly has no love for) and then use audio post-processing to downpitch the lot and do whatever is necessary to get things back as close to the Duke3D voice as possible, but that will never happen.

Some quotes from Manhattan Project together with Duke3D and its expansion packs.
