Maybe, but then there are other textures of different patterns with the same compound; they should all be the same color. The only way you get that with different artists working on these textures, is to use the color match utility to match the color with original.

In fact they are looking now as a letters or some kind of inscriptions - but they are not - it's just some part of the organic machine (probably - please ask game designers, or TerminX, he knows better :( )
note. mirror effect visible a bit too much.
But, in a whole, texture are indeed are really good. Just, maybe may be better a little bit (with normal and spec maps applied).

Yes this is what I'm thinking ... these markings, seem to me like symbols thus why ive made them this way ... to me this texture looks like a rock carving , similar to what you would see in an Egyptian pyramid (hieroglyphics)
I could be wrong but this is what I'm seeing .. and with the quick height map ive made it seems even more likely ...but yeah I can not be 100% sure

One more thing - probably nobody noticed - this thing looks like men's stomach (2) (musculine that is for sure)

lol ...I don't think that's intentional, since its mirrored things come out looking like images ... kinda like thoughts pictures psychiatrists show you, and ask you what you see.

I got similar effects when experimenting with different overlaid textures .. and was like haha this looks like a head etc

You have to flag them in the forum. Then, either the artist who updated the last tile works on the ones that no longer fit, or someone goes in and adjusts the ill-fitting coloured tiles in PS/GIMP.

Very much the look that should be aimed for. For those that don't know, H.R. Giger was a visual effect designer for the Alien movie. Google his work, that will give you a good idea where Duke3d took some of the inspiration for the Alien themed stuff in Ep2.

If by "took some inspiration" you mean "totally ripped off", then yeah. The upper part of this piece should ring a bell.

PLAGMAN: I think I see parts of other duke tiles in that pic.

OZZ: check out tile 5118 It uses some of the texture from the one you are working on now.

Haha your totally right Plagman! its a rip off , and your right Marked , there's other duke tiles in there too!

And Roma , as for making this normal map ... I gave it a try but I think this is way to complex for me ... also how would one make the circle parts concave in like the sink texture in the HRP. there has to be an easier way?

Looks awesome, if we're not going to be completely puritanical i think the extractor or whatever it's called (i think it's actually the back of the barrel) could look pretty awesome in silver color, otherwise top notch job, could you maybe take a screenshot of how it would look in a first person perspective?

That has been suggested elsewhere, I'll give it a go tomorrow and see how it turns out.

Here is a more traditional view.
This version is coming in at 3K polys. What are we aiming for on the pick-up?

an observation o just made on the original tile, those grips on the slide are supposed to be only on the sides not on the top like you have it now.

What about the hand model for the pistol? Will it be edited any? I think the hand model looks pretty good, but seems like it needs improvements, including the skin. The pistol is awesome BTW! If you can get the pistol/hand model positioned just like the 2D sprites, I think you have a winner! :(

Yes, Duke won't need any weapons at all, he will be able to point judgementally at his enemies and they will just explode.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, it will all be animated like the other one.
Played with the different colour scheme I think it looks pretty good. I'll release two skins.
I think I'm going to hold off on the HUD release as it's not going to look it's best without the normal, spec and lighting. I'll get the pickup release together in the next few days.

The texture on the metal parts looks a little too grainy IMO. The grip is fine but could be more shiny.

Being much smaller and having filtering turned on in the game it will probably look less "grainy". I like it as is. I'm no gun expert but the dull black rubber looks normal to me.
