I went up there to pick up Wolf3D and the Plutonium Pak when they were at their old location, and they didn't really like it at all. I think they soon after instituted a ban on public walk-ins. I really don't think they'd want me now. Those who are bolder, like Inanimate Carbon Rod, would give it a go, but I'm going to leave them be.

Well, there at Apogee site there is no mention about the game for which it was recorded. Rather strange fact.

Well Apogee would obviously be recording for critical mass.

I believe the DNF game lacked voice and music work only so as to be finally finished. (Just my thoughs)

It's strange, though.

Well seeing as they have absolutely nothing to do with Duke Nukem forever, and everything to do with the Duke Nukem Trilogy I'd say it's not hard guessing which game the recordings was for.

Not really. I would say most people but I'm not sure anymore... know that they are currently making the Duke Nukem Trilogy. I'm pretty sure it's a game that has something called audio.. Recording Duke speech is hardly "strange".
.. Well maybe if it was like 1990..

Sent a email to the bloke that runs the savedukenukem site, this was his reply.

Hi,

There is not much more info at the moment than what you see on the site.

I am not a former 3DRealms employee. I'm just a fan of Duke who heard the company was folding and decided to try to build a web site to do something about it. To be honest, I've been overwhelmed by the response. I had no idea the site would be this popular this fast...I guess that's what happens when you're mentioned on popular social media sites. Anyway, I can't guarantee I'll be able to keep up with all the emails coming in. Best thing to do is check back at the site regularly for new news. It's gonna take a few days for me to throw something up there that's "interactive."

Glad to know another Duke Nukem fan!

-Jeff

Apparently the 3DR forums "indexing" is finished...

zchri9, posting news with a such way could be understood with more than one way. I think they know about this hype around DNF, so why they didn't wrote "for Duke Nukem Trilogy"? And one more thing, Apogee and 3dr are connected with each other by Duke itself.

I don't get this. How apogeesoftware is related(if it is/was) with 3DRealms?

And why you all guys still thinking that ppl like lead developers/designers/mappers who had worked before on huge projects like Fallout, NWN, and other famous games... now are searching work by blogs?
If 3DRealms was really going down and ex employees wanted to find some jobs quickly, at first they would convince CEO.... to geave public information about shutting down company. So they could just wait for phone calls.

I still reading on 3DRealms:

Quote

The release date of this game is "When it's done". Anything else, and we mean anything else is someone's speculation. There is no date. We don't know any date. If you have a friend who claims they have "inside info", or there's some game news site, or some computer store at the mall who claims they know - they do not.

If it's real the end of DNF - I want now to belive it's all a marketing thing.
Maybe its last time that so many ppl are talking about this game together

Been watching this thread grow the past days and there is just one thing I dont understand. A few weeks ago, maybe more, I remember a screenshot of all the remaining "to do" and "bugs" for DNF, I remember it being posted by someone from 3dRealms. I also remember a post on twitter of DNF reaching their so called milestone and that they had somewhere around 70 tasks left to do, this was not even more than 2 months ago. How can they say that they are shutting down when from the looks of it were so close ? I just find it hard to believe that they would allow DNF to die like that. I think the DNF community deserves better than the crap theyve been handing to you guys, some who have spent over a decade following this game.

And one more thing to add: GB has the underground forum gameilluminati.com for game-devs. So why blogs? The situation (in it's many-edged form) looks like wrong, unrealistic, and artificial.

The nature of that connection is not a mystery though.

"The Trilogy is being produced by Apogee under an exclusive license agreement with 3D Realms Entertainment and MachineWorks Northwest LLC, and will be released by Deep Silver, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koch Media."

And is redundancy really necessary? Only fools expected Apogee Software LLC to mention DNF despite not having ANY rights to the title.

The forum just came back up a short while ago. For all you know, Joe is moving the thread to a different section.

Ramen4ever, well, I thought that 3dr was founded by Apogee members, and there are Apogee Ltd. and Apogee LLC. Am I wrong?

If this is a stunt, i can see two ways:
1) The man who started it is not skilled with such stunts, too unrealistic, (the real stunt don't need some thoughts in the people soiety that this is a stunt).
2) The reason for this stunt is well-thinked PR-action, when the subject of the stunt needs attention from public.
And of course I can be wrong. The whole situation looks strange, but it has single edge, of course there is a possibility for that.

Because honestly, most people I know who are game-devs (and I know plenty) consider a secret club run by George "I can't release a game" B a joke.

It'd be like having an elite secret Ninja forum run by Austin Powers.

No credibility.

Well the problem with "only 70 tasks left" is that one task could (in theory) be: Coding all of the AI. ;)
