3D Realms Shutting Down

After all working under GB who I and many consider genius (those of you who don't agree with this sorry) is not a bad reference beleive me.
Just remember how many things in this genre were invented by GB and SM, how many other companies copycated them, (just remember how many ideas valve stole from their DNF 2001 video).
So I agree we stop all speculative theories atm, but better be some official statement from 3dr with answers soon.

Well, it all depends on exactly how much of DNF had been completed upon the closing of 3DR. I know at least one guy who lost his job was expressing frustration, saying it was "so close".
I have no clue and we may never find out.
It's just hard to imagine all of that hard work going to waste and never being appreciated by the public. It's almost like building the most impressive playing card house EVER and knocking it down before showing anyone- like it may as well never have existed in the first place.
If this becomes the case with DNF, it'll be bar-none the biggest tragedy in the history of gaming.

Actually, that's pretty arguable though.
1 game, vs. 1 entire company...that's a pretty good damn game to do that.
So yea, if not the biggest tragedy ever, easily the second biggest.

It will be releised one day I'm sure, the only question is will it be soon, in few years or in another 12+ years.
I just wanna hear officialy from 3dr that the DNF is alive and work will start in "near" future, so I can put this thing into rest.
Offcourse we might not get another statement while 3dr and t2 are playing texas holdem, because statement will surely show their hand and it will ruin their game.
After all, we are waiting for thisone 12 years and we surely wait some more.

Dear fans,
3DR is finished and DNF is officially cancelled.
George Broussard.
That would be more than enough for me.

Actually, the video game crash of 1983 would disagree.
That thing took thousands of people out of business, and almost killed the market entirely.

I bet like 95% of the users here - myself included - weren't alive in 1983.

So many things came out of that, though.
Like, for example.. the reason that we're not playing games on Commodore's decsendant's.. and why console makers can monopolize their offerings.

there has to be a secret code in there somewhere! maybe every third letter, then match it with the number it appears in the alphabet, then we have our release date!....
jk
I personally dont believe there's a conspiracy, but I do come here in hope of new leaked footage or await the possibilty that someone will hopefully buy and finish the flippin' game.

I still loved the pics ras, keep up the good work. maybe there will be more or about the same tomorrow so we can keep a census of vehicles parked at 3DR. it will be bad if it gets down to a handful.

haha a secret link on the 3DR homepage shows GB taking a dump on T2 presidents picture and quoting " ill rip off your head and shit down your neck" "oh and by the way ITS DONE" haha ok that would never happen but my mouth would hit the floor, not by the game being done but by what i had just seen.

Well the forums and 3Drealms as a company is probably dead but it doesn't mean that George won't go else ware and take Duke with him to have it worked on and completed. He just might end up having to share the IP with another development house along with the profits. At this point I dont see him getting his own anytime soon as he doesn't have allot of options unless Scott Miller decides to bail him out somehow. ...... Speaking of Scott Miller, does anybody know how much money he has along with Apogee? I'm very curious about that.

I could see Gabe doing this anyway, hahaha I wonder what would happen if George went to Bethesda for a loan. I think DNF would be much better than the projects they are working on now other than Fallout Vegas.

hahahahahahahaha I remember playing those types of games, those were the good ol simple days of gaming. However my first gaming experience was when the Nintendo first came out. Mario / Duck hunt and Zelda is what I started out with.

Interesting, I do not quite know what to think about that other than if it was from some company I'd think there would be more contacts in the outlook list.
