You know, there is not so much time left till E3. And what I can say, there are always some sort of speculations before it. The part of speculations will be approved, another part will be wrong. So it's still too early to say smth. definite.

WTF? THAT was the press release? Why isn't it mentioned in the latest headlines in the Apogee site?

According to them their latest press release was made on Feb 26 2009 and not today
http://www.apogeesof.../press-releases

Also their twitter is still announcing a press release for this week
http://twitter.com/apogeesoftware

Maybe it's just slow news update on their site though.

3drealms.com:
The forums are closed due to a temporary search index rebuild. They will return later today when this reindex is complete.

Man how unprofessional are those guys? It never took me more than 30 mins to reindex a forum and I did lots of reindexations for some big ass forums. This is been going on four hours and hours. What in the world could keep them back so damn much.
If one is a bit too paranoid he could think that first shutting down the main topic on the forum and later the whole forum might seem fabricated.
Not to mention this site being hacked early today.

Well it could be that the employee thought the game was canceled at the time of writing that you know.
They should still put out something official, "It's dead now guys" will do nicely.

How could an employee be under false the impression that the very game he was working on had been canned?

Are you seriously trying to say that none of the workers there are even "in on it" and it is only George who knows of this great master plan to punk the whole world???

So the only possibility of the game still being released is if George thought: "Hey, I'll just tell everybody that they're fired and that the game is kaput, but then in about a week I'll announce that I was just kidding. And even though the ex-employees have already started new lives and gotten jobs elsewhere, I'm sure they'll be just fine with coming back to work for me after having played a downright inhumane joke on everyone who trusted me."

And even if that outrageous scenario was the case, how would the people working on the game not be aware of how close it was to being done having been there until the very end??

So then I guess you mean to tell me that George has honed up on his game designing skills and has secretly been making progress on the game all by himself in his home basement so he could finish it without any other single solitary person knowing???

Please.

Oh and he's completely lost his marbles:

The website was hacked? What became of that or was done by the hacker?

I'm sure shacknews saw the update to dukeisback and thought that this was the update. It is an update but sure as hell is not a press release. I guarantee you will see a press release. Whether it is related to dukeisback or something else, I have no clue but expect to see a release forthcoming.

Just what do you think a press release is, exactly?

Hey now, take it easy.
I don't see why the game couldn't have been thought of as canceled, and the employee perhaps had other things to do than worry about updating a small thing on his blog.
And please don't push that conspiracy shit on me, I'm just trying to think positive here.

May 13. - Mihnea Martinescu, e-mailed Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve (Half-Life series), about the rumor of George Brussard, approaching him, for a possible loan or buyin, for finishing DNF.

Gabe Newell replied with a simple "No", destroying all rumors of 3D Realms, approaching Valve.

A copy of the mail will soon hit the gallery of this group.

It's far more a conspiracy to say the game is cancelled than it is to say it "might not be". 3DR is hosed, we know that. We don't know what will happen with the game yet.

Didn't mean to come down so hard on you. And I'm by no means a pessimist but truth be told, there's really nothing to "think positive" about here.

I was thinking the game was actually canceled at the time the employee wrote that, and he just haven't updated his blog.
It's just a suggestion.
Anyways, still hoping for a official statement, just to know there's not worth hoping anymore.

And even if GB will say something officialy, there is a chance that it's a lie, because it's GB). Trying to predict the future: yes, I'm a paranoid. And that "saveduke" facebook group, there is Joe (formerly 3dr employee), so there is a possibility of a lie, because "Joe - Former 3D Realms Employee (Community Manager)" (copypast from there.)

They made some pretty humorous observations regarding Duke on the Giantbomb podcast. Jeff Gertsmann also nailed the fans reaction If you look at the Shutdown thread; lot's of people mindlessly berating Take Two, while George walks off into the sunset with the convenient excuse of saying ?Yeah sorry, the game was amazing and totally gonna rock but ?The Man!? stopped us from finishing. Sry guys, sucks.?

They seem to think DNF in it's current state will make it's way to the torrent sites as well - ala Half Life for the Dreamcast, early Crysis code. Which seems more likely than it being picked up at this point.

It's brilliant. I seriously am considering making a "Duke Nukem Forever Tycoon" web game.

I don't see how waiting for a press release for a few weeks is worse than waiting for a game for 12 years with pretty much no screenies or vids ;)

It?s different to wait for something you can play and experience one day, or wait for a confirmation that you?ve indeed been waiting for nothing at all. ;)

Indeed, it would be a huge kick in the ass to find out this entire wait has really been for nothing. I still say the community itself is probably going to be the best thing that'll come out of this entire thing.

It's tough to wait because now the very existence of the game is on the line, that and knowing that it was so close to being finished. If the game was still nowhere near finished then it wouldn't really matter as much if they made a statement or not I think.

Finished off the recording session with Jon St. John (The Voice of Duke). He commented that he really liked all of the new Dukeism's.

Does anyone else think that Joe finally pulled the plug on the forum? Wouldn't it be his last working day today? (I didn't count exactly). I fear he just put the forum in "limbo mode" so that noone can do any harm as long as there is no official primary moderator available. (Or he was told to do so) ... An index rebuild wouldn't take so long ...
