I imagine they had a bunch of money tied up in Wall Street that had the same outcome as it did for the rest of us. One would think that they could have entered into some more standard type of arrangement with TT to get some operating capital, or perhaps even sell the IP, rather than see it drag the company under. I suppose we may never be told the exact circumstances of all of this. Still, they hung on to the IP, so hopefully that means they intend to move the game to Radar Group and send it out to another developer to finish, or something along those lines. I really don't think this is the end for DNF.

At any rate, despite my anger, my thoughts are with all those 3DR employees that had nothing to do with this. This comes as a shock to all of us, but the same shock for them was also accompanied by unemployment, so let's keep that in mind.

The really sad part is the loss of all the familiar faces (so to speak) that I've come to know over the years on those forums. Many of whom are over here, but it's still a great loss.

Does anyone actually know what haapened? Have they shut up shop and gone home or have they filed for banckrupcy? That will make a big difference for who owns the IP. If it's the later (and I guess it probably is) then the IP will be sold to the highest bidder so we can expect to see crap watered down Duke games coming out in the near future. A little like what happened to Leisure Suit Larry. I guess. I'm talking out my arse.

If the have actually gone bust (bankrupt) the IP will belong to the receiver (appointed by the bank). They will sell it to the highest bidder who will promptly product a poor generic FPS based on Duke.

I was just considering all this myself. Too much has been going on lately with the development cycle. Just mere days ago George was casually playing poker with friends. He was also talking about having the game on his hard drive not too long ago either. They are weird things to tweet about just when your company is about to go bust. The Wallpaper at Christmas time, the bug list tweet, surely by then you would know that your company wasn't in good shape. So why put false hope into your fans moreso than what to the extreme amounts that you had done in the past 12 years?

Oh and we still don't have an official announcement by Scott or George. You would think that would be high on the list of priorities.

Something is up. Something quite fishy indeed.
