Whose fault is that? Random Internet users aren't gonna look for what "Polymost" means. There should be a way to define textures overrides in Polymost mode.

It's the same dude that's making those for those godawful DN SFM/Gmod videos in the General Duke Nukem forum. I'm not remotely surprised he'd be dumb enough to A. use a hack that allows you to use HRP assets in Megaton and B. thinks it doesn't look like shit.

If it wasn't him who came up with a pack that works in Megaton, someone else would have. I'd be happy that people like the HRP enough to want to get it to work in Megaton. Yeah, he used the Polymer version, but still. I was hoping they would just officially add an optional HRP to the game. I don't think I plan on buying many more Duke3D ports unless something is done graphically to the game and/or there are some substantial, new features added. New multiplayer modes or something. I know most of you guys hate if anything is changed in the game, but I don't see a problem with it as long as it's optional and vanilla Duke3D can be played if one chooses to.

As for Total Meltdown possibly getting added to the game, that's the greatest news I've heard so far! Throw in Duke Nukem 64 while you're at it.

As glad as I am to see TM and 64 possibly being added, Megaton still has a few issues that I hope get worked out. The multiplayer could be better. It seemed like it was almost perfect several updates back. There are some bugs that need to try to be elimininated, too. And while I'm at it, I should mention that the expansion packs need the User Maps option added to their menus so user maps can be played in single player. I think I know how to add that option, but the majority of the players wouldn't. I suppose if TM and 64 are added similarly to how the expansion packs are, you should also give them the User Maps option, as well, just for the heck of it. I hope to maybe see HD intro/menu backgrounds for TM and 64.

There is no way you can add Duke 64 to the Megaton version. Total Meltdown is fine because only a few details require Eduke32 (slightly different HUD weapons, and the Tripbomb in the inventory).

And Eduke32 could have an HD menu on its own loading assets from the Megaton installation.

God no. There is enough things that got ruined in Megaton already. With optional HRP, people would do this : "install game for the first time, see 'high resolution YES/ NO' in the settings, turn it to 'on' because 'HIGHRES = BETTER' to the mind of 99,9% of people". And they'd never look back and some of them would even think that's how it looked in 1996.

And there is also the questionable aspect of selling the work that a community did for free. Though that didn't seem to be a problem for Twin Dragon and Wanton Destruction...

I'm curious to see how the port of DN64 could be implemented alongside some sort of retail release of DN3D, if that ever came to be. Since it's more of a slew of changes rather than an entirely new episode, many players would probably initially mistake it as having nothing new or different at all. For better or for worse, games now tend to be identical across platforms, so the significance of DN64 would likely be lost on today's crowd unless explained.

Well, it wouldn't have to be called "high resolution". It could be named in a way that makes it clear that it's new. Not that I expect it to ever happen anyway. Just wishful thinking. I really didn't have the HRP in mind anyway. I'd like to see something different done where it all stays 2D. No 3D models. Something that doesn't aim to make the game look more realistic. At the very least, I'd like to see the HQX filter added to the game:

To be honest, I'd rather like to see soundfont selection support than sprite scaling crap which can never look really convincing. I checked it out in GZDoom and it's quite horrible, especially for textures. But it leads off-topic.

Regarding HRP usage:
Well, if people are so keen on using HRP, let them and they'll see what they get from that. It's gonna be a mixed bag with many assets remaining low-res. Part of the problem is also that we still put HRP into autoload, so many players have it loaded all the time.
Gotta admit that personally, I went retro and stopped using HRP most of the time - especially for addons with custom art it's deadly. HRP works best with original episodes and any addon not using custom art, anything else requires additional highres packs (e.g. Duke DC) or at least defs undefining tiles that have been replaced. Otherwise, playing "vanilla style" [aka "the way it's meant to be played" ™] is recommended. You can't do more than write "Don't use HRP with this one" into the readme, I guess.

I don't think many people will be running the HRP on their android devices. There is less space (unless you have bigger micro sd cards) and I don't think most people's devices would be running the pack quite smoothly.

It sucks that people are willing to do things like run HRP in mods where it doesn't really work, but there's really nothing you can do. No matter how many times you try to idiot-proof something, there's always going to be someone that'll find a workround. I guarantee you that if you were to add a way to prevent the HRP being loaded with a Total Meltdown mod, there'd be someone that'd make a Steam guide a day or two after release showing anyone how to overrride the override. If people want to run the HRP in a TM mod then go onto Megaton's forums, whining about how some of the textures look bad in HRP, it's their prerogative to do something you have no control over; they should just expect the consequences of using a mod that doesn't support TM's assets.

This would cause a noob storm. Tards cannot understand the command line. There will likely be old EDuke32 versions circulating as "the last with autoload", and there will certainly be many instances of dubious instructions and custom packs.
