I thought it wasn't a matter of how many, but rather some specific maps which cause the crashes.

Both :/ Some maps may cause the crash, but the map limit crash is definitely also there.

edit: for clarification, we're talking about the crash that happens when a player joins a lobby with a new usermap and the game crashes while trying to download said map.

I just released this DM map, with some interesting effects. If someone wants to check it out. :(

Really nice architecture! I hope it finds a way into a single player map some day.

lol, we're not talking about the same thing, I meant the freezing that (sometimes) happens when opening the usermap menu in SP.

Thanks! it also has some really cool new features that no one cares because is a DM map :( I'm gonna make a new puzzle SP map making further use of those new effects instead of making a sp version out of this. I'd like to make a new episode for War of Attririon mode with some of the most recent maps from Megaton at some point. (Obviously with permission of authors, including The Hunt)

It's not by Nukemdave. There is a big difference between uploader and mapper.

I knew people didn't read readmes, but description on workshop map pages are just a few lines, read them.

Just saying because it's happened to me too that people thought that some maps I uploaded on the workshop were made by me.

I never intended to make this playable and upload it to Workshop until just tonight. I originally just built it as eye candy, but I played a match in it with NukemRoses and it played better than I expected. It might get a little chaotic with a full 8 players, though.

Also, I updated my Porkchop Sandwiches map last night for anyone who's played it. I added more weapons, ammo, health, everything. I've been getting complaints from people wanting to beat it in single player, so maybe that will help. I enabled Dukematch on it, too.

New map which seem to take "inspiration" from Steambull's Nasty Flavour (even the bossfight area with the miniBlord and the tubes is there) :

With Alias Conrad Coldwood's consent I have uploaded his 3 maps on the workshop and even made a collection

Both Needle Time and Insurance Overload come with instruction on how to install the textures. It's a bit of trouble (not too much really) but to my knowledge it's the only way to do it.

Also, because Megaton is what it is, Needle Time is missing two things : you can't kill the nurse and there is no hearbeat sound. In Insurance you can't destroy the new curtains either.
There is probably a way to get that working with Megaton but the difference is pretty minor and it would have been too much trouble.

I have also discovered that Alias Conrad Coldwood is French, which once again is proof that, we French mappers, are the best in the world! :)

Gambini and William Gee are French? That's news to me...

I don't actually have that much regard for Gambini's maps, and William Gee doesn't count because you can't compare to Gods. He's up there in the hall of Build Gods alongside Levelord and Robert Travis.
Spoiler

But I wasn't being serious btw.

Hey Sang's made some very nice maps for AMC TC Episode 2.

After me and James have spent countless hours improving them.

The layout and general themes of the maps he did were actually really good - the detail didn't quite match up to the rest but detail means nothing if you don't do anything imaginative with it :)

I am done uploading all of Maarten Pinxten's work. 9 maps total, unless I'm missing some as there are some of them I had never played before.
All regrouped in one collection, each map tested, and uploaded with 3-4 screenshots and a small description.

MPORBIT.map and MPRESFAC.map appear to be nameless.

I really admire Pinxten's stuff, it's clean, straight to the point, and he is really good at making interesting layouts and implementing small effects that fit well with the maps. Also nine ten maps in less than 2 years is very productive.

Edit : I have added MPHydro which I found completely by chance on the dukeworld archive. This map wasn't uploaded on DNR, MSDN or CGS. It is Pinxten's worse map but a good map nonetheless.

According to DNR, MPRocket and Operation Blazkowitz are the same maps. I even downloaded both and checked, they were the same.

Edit : though apparently I'm missing MPWeapon
It's really sad to see the state of the community, I know this map exists but the links on MSDN are dead, it's not on DNR (dead site anyway), not on CGS, and on the dukeworld archive of duke4, I only found it because I was desperate enough to look in the wrong category : it's in the "2001->current" category even though it's from end of 1999, beginning of 2000. Sigh.

Speaking of that, I actually want to bring back DNR but only Kim has the keys (Fernandon and Puritan don't have them anymore and their access were limited anyway) and he's nowhere to be found. If anyone knows how to reach him... googling for an Australian "Kim Robinson" is like looking for a specific needle in a haystack, except the haystack is full of similar needles.

Mikko and the owners of other sites should upload a .zip with all maps/episodes/tcs for the sake of preservation.

Isn't that what Dukeworld is for? Not to mention the other sites that host maps.

Edit: I should probably read more than just the last few posts.

Dukeworld should be good as long as people keep uploading stuff to it as far as I'm aware?
