So I've tested some programs and came to this list.
Tested with Windows7 64bit, Geforce GTX 560, Core i7 3770, 8GB RAM and latest EDuke32 in OpenGL mode.
- Open Broadcaster
positive:
- free software and opensource
- audio and video recording with good quality
- doesn't decrease fps ingame noticeable
- you can also use it for livestreams
negative:
- works only with Eduke32 in windowed mode, fullscreen will result in a gray videofootage
To capture your video to disc, you have to set the broadcast modus to output in a file.
For a good quality I also set CBR off and 9000 kbits/s, quality to 10 and the renderer profile to ultra fast (for lowest impact on fps).
positive:
negative:
- works only with Eduke32 in windowed mode, fullscreen will result in a gray videofootage
- records the mouse cursor and you can't deactivate it
- you have to start recording before you start the game, because EDuke will block the hotkey for recording
- records the whole screen and not only the game window
This tool is thought for overclocking your GPU, but it also has a nice video capture function, which works quite nice with most games.
Sadly, it doesn't work with Eduke this nice...
positive:
negative:
- decreases fps count ingame drasticly
- commercial - you have to buy it
- on my PC, it records only the music from EDuke, not the sound effects
These are just my test results and for me Open Broadcaster is the best solution.
So, what are your recommendations for recording EDuke32?
