I wouldn´t say that. I respect Monolith a big deal, with the exception of Blood 2 and Shogo, both games I didn´t like, they have been mass producing awesomeness. Blood, with its artwork and pastel colors. NOLF 1&2 featuring the best humor ever seen in games, FEAR 1&2 need to say anything about them? All their games have been excellently well executed and have above average playtimes (Nolf 1 takes about 21 hours, FEAR 15hrs, etc).

The point of said they were stupid because Blood 2 was the first game I encountered just not able to play when applied latest patches, did some researches and looks like they didn't know and care about the problem since it looks like never to be release on Japan or other Asian countries. Hmm, my last respect to Monolith just ruined to nothing by that, and because I were not able to play it so I didn't know how it sucks...

Sadly, never played their later titles since Blood, didn't have interest to try them, sorry I can't get your point. ;)

@ Player Lin - Blood 2 runs now. There are updated exe files for this.

So, you did not get FEAR because of Blood 2 exe issues? You are missing out methinks. Posted Image.

It sure runs with latest patch 2.1 applied and reset to default(or just crashed when startup, disable anything and set to only 1 CPU + run at Win98 level both are not helps), but the main problem is the control of this game is totally ruined to nothing by all default keybind just reset to nothing and cannot be rebind again.
If there is something to patch this problem I would like try but I didn't found any of that... ;)

Or maybe I will buy a one from GOG.com, but afraid it still doesn't works like the retail one on my system...

EDIT: OK, I remembered I were tried the GOG.com one(illegal shit from somewhere) in last year, it just the same as retail one with 2.1 patch already applied. Crashes or not able to control, every possible solutions I can found on Internet just did not helped and the game just didn't works at all...stupid game. :P

Not totally, that's just one of reasons, NOLF and FEAR just aren't my taste of games...even I know them...
(Illegal shit is other story.:P)

I'll preface this post by admitting that Shadow Warrior is among my top favorite video games, full stop.

I must say, I've not really thought that the level design in Shadow Warrior was unintuitive or annoying. As a matter of fact I found the atmosphere to be rather breath-taking at times. I felt completely immersed in forested levels like "Dark Woods of the Serpent". Walking through a dark forest with trees all around and the endless chirping of crickets... If anything I might say that the registered levels are not as "tight" as the original shareware levels. Some of them felt rushed, but for the most part conformed to conventional 90s FPS design (conventional being games like DooM or Duke Nukem 3D).

In fact, the biggest criticism I would have with the game is how easy it is to get gut-punched by some of the Ninjas carrying missile launchers. It's very easy to die quickly in Shadow Warrior due to shoddy enemy balancing combined with frantic pacing. So I say give the player more effective ninja-style weapons and abilities, while at the same time not jeopardizing the ability to carry a Nukem-style arsenal. Give the player a chance to slow things down when things get too hectic, but at the same time don't diminish the game's frantic combat. I think reconciling the two will be a challenge, but should pay off.

Yeah I love Shadow Warrior, when I first played it I remember thinking it was better than Duke 3D only I kept coming back for more Duke not so much for Shadow Warrior.
I will not get my hopes up, but I am very happy to hear about this, if they add a sword slicing mechanic like in Metal Gear Rising it could be amazing, but yeah I want all the guns too.

Thought id add my two cents on this.
So, SW....neat.
I never liked it as much as Duke but i had plenty of fun with it.

However, i cant call myself a fan of Hard Reset(ive never been able to finish it seeing as how the boredom sets in too fast).
A proper reimagining could be good.

Call me crazy, but i would like to see an emphasis on stealth if that was at all possible.
Crawling up on the ceilings, then using a gorotte wire to take down the guard below.

Sort of like Mark of the Ninja, with good FPS combat and a cutting mechanic ala MGR, that actually features some decent controls.

But lets just see how it goes.

If anything, I'd like to see the sword become a more dominant weapon. I remember it being fairly dominant, but guns always seemed to take a major role. Making the sword and fighting mechanics a prominent part of the game could make it interesting and very unique.

The sword was great. It's one of those rare times in a game where a melee weapon doesn't feel just like backup for when you're out of ammo.

The fists were pretty great too. Loved sending those ninjas flying with a few quick punches. Probably my favorite FPS melee weapons of all time, along with Doom's chainsaw.

I will wait for this too. Somehow, I have liked the "fantasy" elements and I hope they would be included. The game had a weird plot: you're in the city, then in the ancient realm and back to the present. Does anybody actually understand it?

I have a feeling that nobody else here really liked Shadow Warrior for the game that it was, and instead wish it were something else like a stealth-FPS or an RPG.

Edit: By the way, I don't think the "ancient realm" had speedboats and missile launchers.

I loved SW for what it was. An awesome Build FPS with great un-PC jokes and some innovative gameplay elements. For some reason, I always consider it as the best TC for Duke. Also wished those arts, features, sounds to be impemented in Duke's realm.

if they are smart... they will keep the awesome high speed gameplay and not stray too far from the path of the original game. I Love Shadow Warrior as some could guess ( by making maps and creating a website for it ) and I really want this good news to end up as a very successful game. The Original Sw would have been more successful back in the day but was released allittle late in the lifespan of the build engine and was overshadowed by dukes still burning success aswell as newer engine based games forging ahead. The multiplayer for this game is so good and intense, letting the skills of a player really shine through. My favorite map for Wangbang is Master Leeps Temple, this map is so balanced it's borderline genius and results in 1v1 chess like gameplay for HOURS and has a beautiful light hearted element to it. I have created some maps in the last year or 2 ( ProArena and The Edge(q2dm1) which are available at Shadow Warrior Central, I have posted a new thread about the site here which has been up since '99. Anyway I have a feeling the 2 new maps will have similarly epic flow and fun factor. My next favorite stock map for Wangbang is Heavy Metal ... 3: Seppuku Station then map 4 and finally Dark woods but woods really is better with 3 or 4 players not just 1 on 1.

So we still haven't actually received any information right, yet? Just a screencap of that dead/injured Yakuza and a temple courtyard in the background.

That is correct. However, one has to wonder if they are planning a big show/trailer at E3? Or a later date? Are they even in a place where they can show a trailer? So, yeah, we know nothing except who is involved and that it exists.

I do hope they keep Lo Wang. And the weapons, SW has probably my favorite game arsenal of all time.

This is just a rumor but it could just be a Facebook Flash game...

Shadow Warrior is bold reimagining of 3D Realms' cult classic shooter from developer Flying Wild Hog (Hard Reset) and independent game label Devolver Digital (Serious Sam 3: BFE, Hotline Miami, LUFTRAUSERS) for PC and next-gen consoles. Blending the viciously over-the-top gunplay of its predecessor with the elegant precision of the powerful katana, Shadow Warrior is an imaginative take on the classic arcade-style shooter.

Follow the offbeat tale of Zilla Enterprise's corporate shogun, Lo Wang, who is ordered by his employer to track down and acquire a legendary blade known as the Nobitsura Kage. Forced into a timeless battle, Lo Wang learns of the blade's connection to ancient gods from another realm, pushing our world to the brink of destruction. Aided by Hoji, a banished spirit from this mysterious world, Lo Wang must use a masterful combination of gun, blade, magic and wit to discover the truth behind the demonic invasion and banish the encroaching forces back into the darkness.

I never bothered to follow the story in Shadow Warrior (Been so long since I've played) but I like the direction of the trailer and the screens (and the description). This should be a fun game.

Interesting to note that it's also coming for consoles.

It sounds like a decidedly darker and more realistic affair which i can dig as long as it doesn't go full "darkuntedgy" on us.
Good balance of colors in those screenshots and good looking enemies as well.

Seems to me that Lo Wang is alot younger this time around as well.

Going to be interesting to see some actual gameplay.

Actually, those screenshots look a lot closer to the original shadow warrior than I thought they would be based on the teaser page. I almost thought it was going to be just a gritty reboot that was more "Old Boy" or perhaps "Kill Bill" at the most than old shadow warrior\b-movie\anime. *edit* The teaser trailer does give me a Kill Bill vibe though.

Those screens kinda give me a Serious Sam vibe. I hope that isn't the case, I'd like to see old school level design again.

If Hard Reset, Flying Wild Hog's last game, is any indication, the levels will actually be very small, cramped, linear hallway-esque corridors littered with invisible knee high walls, one-way drops off ledges preventing any backtracking, and no interactivity or exploration whatsoever. You can see in those few screenshots how lines of rocks and other decorative items conveniently cordon off the limited playable area.
