even with a trailer, all it means for certain that someone knew how to use a video editor.
For now, it's on the must know about list for game talk.

Are we not allowed to speculate or something? It's pretty much confirmed to be happening now and we are getting excited before we get some more information on it. Have some fun Gambini

I'm a bit fatigued from "confirmed" projects dying out or fading into obscurity, to be honest.

Why would this fade out though? We have already seen a mini glimpse of the promotion for this thing. The Greenlght entry, the website, The Shadow Warrior Classic+ release in the next few months.
I don't think we need to be worried

(And yes, I realize the game was released. Partially released, that is. But before that it fell into development hell for years, a'la TF2.)

Black Mesa, a fan mod compared to a fully backed game by a publisher and a good developer.
I think you are reaching a bit sorry.

Hard Reset is a very good game in my books, but that does not mean I am looking forward to a remake of another game I already have. Was SW so bad it's needs a remake?
#75 Posted 09 May 2013 - 04:44 PM
I would agree that it's a bit too early to get excited for it as we haven't seen anything yet though.
I for one like they are making this remake\reboot and look forward to seeing more of it. Besides, people don't make remakes\reboots because the original was bad. Just that after 14+ years some people might like to see an up to date version of the game... lots of people where requesting Shadow Warrior too from what I have seen.

Then I guess I'm an idiot. While I'm not offended by it, it definitely shows a 100% stereotyped side of Asian culture like the Loony Tunes propaganda they used to broadcast during WWII. It's racist, but who cares.

It's the good kind of racist though.

That argument doesn't even make sense. The point of the game is to break out of Castle Wolfenstein, slaughter Nazis and kill Hitler. What could be more pro-Jewish than that?

Nevertheless people did believe the game was pro-nazi because when they see the game they saw nazi stuff everywhere in the levels. But that was because they where ignorant of the story.
Same thing with Doom really..... but replace nazis with satanism.
#85 Posted 09 May 2013 - 08:20 PM
Same typical hype over one silly picture and a model render that could be used for any game.
#86 Posted 09 May 2013 - 09:09 PM
.... YOU NO MESS WITH LO WANG.
All I can say is John Galt better be involved... Or else!

It should be noted he didn't mind being paid by 3D Realms when he worked at Human Head Studios.
Other concerns voiced over Twitter: What's left when you remove the casual racism and racial stereotyping? A couple interesting weapons?
Digital Devolver: Unique gameplay mechanics, an interesting relationship between hero and employer, and an unusual setting and scenarios. But again, that is our challenge to prove and hopefully we will do that over the coming months! As you point out, it's seems odd but we know this will be a challenge. (https://twitter.com/...510546588999680) They have the right attitude. I hope they keep the humour and aren't afraid to be a bit silly.
If they leave out Lo Wang's original character, they might as well just create a new IP. Removing Lo Wang's funny asian accent/comments/quirks is like removing Duke's personality. It just isn't right!! But considering how we always have to be politically correct now a days I'm afraid they will cave into the gamers who take life way too seriously.

Amen to that man! Like I said people take life way too seriously. Same thing for games. If they had a problem with racism why didn't they voice it back in the day? Yes the internet wasn't as vast but there were still message boards, etc.

Yes. It's parody. That's the whole point. It's not done with any level of an attempt to make a serious political or racial statement. It's just a jest.
Besides, I think the entire notion of Shadow Warrior is often misunderstood. It's more about being a collection of Eastern/Asian/Kung Fu action film cliches than it is about being somehow intentionally racist or insensitive. It's no different than what Duke does to 80s action films.
