Without a "fight or flight" reflex she would be the first to die in an attack.

He/she seems to have an easy trigger for 1´s, even Source is worth one point for them.

Probably the best Let's Play video yet.

I gotta say, I just love how he gets scared even of some non-scary noizes. I had a great fun watching this video.

Maybe you should take feedback from these videos. Everyone seems to be having trouble realizing they have to put the flashlight on when they exit the house. Plus most of these let's players seem to try to unlock the actual padlock and not the door to the underground tunnels. You should consider having a hint for the flashlight and allowing to open the door from the lock as well.

Is this the first true stand-alone game made with EDuke32? In any case, I sure hope it's not the last; huge props for driving it all the way to shipping.

I think his Sonic TC one was also completely stand alone.
The reason this one has taken off is because there is so much interest and hype of this "Slender" that Eddy has hit the right market.

Nope. Mblackwell's Top Shooter has that distinction, albeit it is far, far simpler.

So Eddy's Sonic game wasn't a true stand alone?
I am pretty sure it didn't use anything from Duke.

I think Eddie beat me with his Sonic game, although I can't recall if it was 100% complete?

Unless we're talking about only using original content (no sounds, textures, etc from other games)...

Anyway, still it's always nice to see a new game made with EDuke32 rather than just a simple mod.

Another one, now from Spain

This guy seeems to be talking about a game a lot, I even heard him quoting Duke Nukem. I wish I could understand what's he saying.

"MACHO ASTURIANO", lol!

He mostly talks about the future of his channel, and basically says the game is well done, but the graphics are pretty "meh"... that's it...

Just played part of it

Spoilers: got the hammer and was looking for the sawmill entrance, when this guy appeared next to me. I guess I underestimated him because he killed me.

So far this is a very good work. It managed to put me in alert-state. Will post tomorrow once im done with it but I´m already impressed (y)

Looks pretty cool; please post the full source code for your modified EDuke32 so that people can play it without having to rely on your Windows binary.

This is the sad part. I have about 27 Slender man games on my hard drive (Not to count about 4 games for Android), and you're not gonna beleive it, but only one (sic!) of them has a different gameplay. The other games are just trying to copy the original Slender.

No wonder that haters just started voting down my game. It's really hard to beleive that something different just came out.

Apparently 2 people disagreed with my review about the game?

Quote

This is great stuff, clearly a lot of effort is put into it. The graphics look great (love the visual style), and the way the story mode works is fantastic: the game saves for you at critical points, the notes hint at where to go next, there are special items and things you can use in the game to progress, and the story actually makes you want to keep going and solve the mystery. All with some incredible suspense and a great map layout.

Haters again, nevermind them.

Btw, the mods just deleted votes made by fake accounts, which is cool :D

Sorry, one down vote is mine.
I was trying to see if it would show me who voted you down originally but then it gave you another, lol
It wouldn't let me undo it.
But why be so concerned about it?

I was wondering if people had any legitimate reasons to disagree with the review and hence the game but I guess not.

Can't wait for you to tell your opinion about the game. I always thought it's very difficult to impress or scare you :D

Seen all Slender's Woods videos that bloom all day on the internet, your game may become as popular as the first Slender Game! It is only a few days the game was released, and there has already more than twenty videos on youtube...

I found a nice review (containt spoils, so don't watch If you don't have played Slender's Woods yet):
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=pOLDFQCXKPI

Two other funny ones:
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=oiFOPoHOTdo
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=iSZtqDAS2Xg

For my part, I finished the story mode (that gave me some big thrills!) which is a bit short (but great!), but I still not finished the page collecting mode... Because I always fail to find the last page (pretty difficult to escape him at this stage)

Oh, and I noticed a small bug too:

I just found another video, and this one was just a blast. This guy's reactions are priceless:

Thanks for noticing, that is a quite nasty bug.

Definitely gonna make v.1.1 later, everything will be fixed.

Well I guess I won´t be able to finish it. Kept playing some more but the short life stamina really frustrates me. The slender guy seems to appear without warning in every corner I´m and reloading and taking different paths doesnt help. It´s still very good. I got scared, badly, a couple of times. But, once you reload for fifth time from the same checkpoint it becomes less scary and more frustrating. I saw the map in the sawmill and went outside to pick the basement key. Of all my attemps, I managed to get teh key only once, but this dude killed me on the way back.

If you are going to update it (as I think I read some posts back) please decrease the stamina refilling time. Other than that: the atmosphere is very well achieved, each element contributes to the desolation feeling. This is certainly more scary than quite a few of horror commercial titles.

My nitpicks are 1- Maybe those door transitions, which feel unnecesary considering how easy is to make doors in duke. The problem with these doors is that they disorient the player. That, added to the fact that the whole area is purposelly disorienting, you can expect a lot of people getting lost (I guess).

2- The boundaries of the map break the sense of belief. You have this blairwitch feeling of walking in circles until you hit a perfect, straight fence that makes you remember it is just a map, with limits. I would have thought of rocks, cliffs, thick forestation, etc. Anything that would have blocked the player´s way in a more natural way. It takes very little time to realize that the whole area is a square surrounded by fences.

3- Finally, the way the player is held from point to point feels somewhat forced. I know it´s the way linear layouts work. But being told each time what I am thinking takes me out of the character. The atmosphere is good enough to make the player inmerse and make his own conclusions, there´s no need of texts like "oh these noises crush my head" etc. There are always more clever ways to guide the player to the desired point. Light is your friend. A bulb that glows in the dark is going to catch the attention. A repeating noise, with a clearly distingishable location is going to wake player´s curiosity.

Ah and, well, I have never played or heard of Slender before. So, I dont really know the extent of your own touch here. But those texts blinking in the air -like "he´s gonna swallow your soul" don´t blend with the rest of the game too well, in my opinion.

I´m sure a Slender fan may consider my opinion wrong because some of the previosly mentioned defects are Slender´s games cliches. But as a neophyte, this is the impression i got.
