First of all , hi everyone

i m a long time duke fan , and a lurker

i finally made up my mind about registering and ranting a little

i can't stand anymore the way 3DR behaves , like they don't owe us anything , like we re just "cannon fodder" for their third parties devs' games


I had a lot of mood changes since DNF was initally announced , i ve bounced back and forth between hyped, ultra hyped , not really caring , could give a shit , joking about it , hyped again

so i think i ve seen this thing from many PoVs

obviously , since in 12 years a boy hits puberty

i preordered this game at a local retailer in 98 , i think it was around the time the PCG second mag about DNF came out

i was overly excited about it , but it didn't come out... so i waited for 99 , 2000 and 2001 ... no signs of Duke whatsoever

i started "believing" again when the first gamasutra pic was posted

then little by little i became a "follower" again after the 2007 teaser and that damn "Stay Tuned" status

i thought that chaning the status from WID to Stay Tuned could mean that something finally was moving

then Jace Hall graced us with that gameplay video ... i was completely sold ... again.

I bought Duke3DXBLA , hoping there could be some signs of DNF in it , and... well to my surprise , they left 2 screens in there!

I thought , man this is going to get a full blown trailer for Christmas , they CAN'T miss this opportunity

it s their last chance

and... well? what did we get for Christmas? Stupid gift-wrapping and then... oooh! a Wallpaper!

Ok, what the hell is this ? First you tease us and tell us to stay tuned and then you run away for you holidays leaving us with a stupid wallpaper ( which i have on my desktop at the moment , being the stupid lobotomized GB groupie i am )

I m just waiting for Duke3D's birthday , if by that day nothing is shown ... i will really be upset and never buy something 3DR again

we ve spent dollars on Duke3D , we are their customers , we give them their daily work

and their ferraris , at least show us you care a little , in the end , you owe us something , don't you think?

If they continue like this , anything from 3DR will arrive on my desktop in the Razor1911 version:)

not even valve are this stubborn , not even ID!

why only 3DR are kicking their fanbase in the nuts countless times over and over again?

is this some kind of new virtual BDSM?

3DR doesnt owe us anything.
They created Duke 3D and we paid for the game (most of us anyway)
Its not like we paid extra so they would make DNF.
Sure, our money paid for their 'Ferraris', Of course not all of them own a Ferrari.
We didnt give them money to make DNF, we gave them money when buying Duke 3D and other great games by 3DR.

I had a dream It released this year, I played it was fucking awesome like nothing I've ever played and it will definitely be Supreme soon this year!! One comment from IGN on the back of the box said something like throw away all your games, DUKE NUKEM FOREVER is the only game you'll ever need and play... Interestingly the dream was like a sign to me and I feel that it will make it this year for sure. DUKE NUKEM FOREVER!! GET READY TO ROCK PEOPLE!!

I can't spend a single day without checking this twitter thing, and I can't avoid to get pissed off every time by the comments on pizza or on TV shows (when there are comments) but still, I do it every day. So pathetic...

I'm wondering if the DNF development saga won't be more interesting than the game itself, in the end...

I think 3DR found themselves in a pretty fucked up position. Even if they release thegame or not, they're fucked. Becase on one hand the game just can't meet everyone's expectations, people WILL say "Is this what you've been doing for 13 years?". On the other hand, if they don't release it (cancelling) well...you know....

Absolutely correct Also, when they release the game, what will they do then? They've been doing this same thing for years now, it's hard to let go.

If this is DNF's year there is no reason to continue keeping silence about it. Even the most useless developer knows when is he going to finish his own product. Right now, it looks like 3DRealms is playing with us. Or maybe they are preparing some that will make us crap in our pants.

But I woulnd't bet on that

Guys , just a question .... that probably has been asked countless times already

but , how did DNF manage to never ever get leaked?

I mean , not the full game , even some unfinished levels , some parts of the trailer ( think about Hl2 "leak" or Doom3 "alpha leak" )

that you can barely play but still are a clear sign that the games exists.

I mean , nothing ever came out since 97, right? At least i don't remember anything...

isn't it strange? Crysis got leaked , HL got leaked , Doom 3 ... and plenty of games in the past ( think about Kingpin! Or battlecruiser 3000AD...which is kinda similar to DNF developement method now that i think of it )

i m not here to start anything , it s just a question

how do you explain this lack of leaks? I mean duke is pretty important , even mediocre Stalker got leaked:\

That's a valid point actually... But... Were there any leaks of Blizzard games? I heard they're really anal about their security. But 3dr... People actually got to 3dRealms office just saying something like "we're Joe's friends". That's an old story and their security now is more uptight, though. But still...

In the end I think that people just don't care about DNF that much to try to leak/steal it.

They game never got leaked because the poor guys who worked there are overly loyal to the company, even during critical times such as mass departures. And the rest of the folks are scared of violating the contract and getting into trouble that way.
