He didnt confirm that it would ship this year, he just hinted it.

I think they are getting close to a release though, since he said they were working on the menu and most of the time the menu is one of the last things worked on.

It isnt confirmed unless he comes out and says "Duke Nukem Forever is shipping this year on xx/xx/09" and of course he hasnt said this. I can't wait till he does though! :)

Well that's good to know and hear, but most likely it will release this year. I'm glad he hinted, much more to see this year hopefully I pray so.

Post in enthusiast thread then.

It seems to me that solving the tech problems exposed some other underlying, perhaps even more fundamental problems.

Hell, it's surreal. An experienced company having difficulties with making games. Well, then again, maybe if they weren't from 80s, they'd be more skillful in managing the development.

I'll reply, even if it is a "rant" thread, that post is just badmouthing and nothing do with ranting.

This "menu design" GB twitter'd about yesterday HAD BETTER involve a menu for the PC version that ISN'T a giant, lame, autistic console controller menu with zero options.

I would like to think in this day and age that each version of DNF will have their own menu's that suit the characteristics of the platform it is on. I expect plenty of customisation available in the PC version and I think the 360 version (if there is one) needs to mainly be on the accessible side.

I think George Broussard wouldn't let the game fall short on minor things like duplicating menu's for each port. It is important that each menu suits the platforms needs and I expect that the pc version will incorporate all its capabilities. As you said it better anyway.

Prey had different menus on PC and 360.

Kind of a rant as it looks like 3dr will be moving their servers around a bit for their forums. Hopefully they won't be down too long as I still
check the forums there for my daily fix of "no DNF for you!". :)

/Conspiracy mode on

I remember George stating awhile ago that when things got "closer" to the release/ramp up, that changes would be made to the 3drealms website.
Is this the beginning of that? Hmm....

They still need to beef up their servers as they couldn't even handle traffic with the teaser trailer being released. I was getting frequent "timed out/page not
available" messages and it sucked. When new media does come, I hope they'll be able to handle it.

They could handle the traffic, it was limited for precautions. I don't know how many times joe stated that.

What I find more amusing in the whole "Cutting is Shipping" thread in 3DR Forums, is that neither Joe or George have come to lay us down telling that this Twitter update has no relation with DNF whatsoever.

Maybe now, things will be different (I.L.U. Niko Bellic :) )

I hope this is the year of DNF, I'm a bit fed up of being mocked by naysayers.

There may be all kinds of maintenence. Maybe it's only network related, not software. Maybe something else. It's like linking Joe's forum upgrades with DNF media.

Where did you get this info from kaiser? I've searched all around 3DR's forum but couldn't find anything about.

Well I guess it depends what you mean with handle. Keeping the server from crashing by limiting the accesses is good but there where obviously to many people accessing the server for it to let everyone browse the forums normally. In other words what Kaiser means with handle is letting him and others use the forum. If the sever technically crashes or just stops users from viewing the forum doesn't matter much to the end user, It's still an unavailable service.

It's a sticky notice right at the top of their forum index.

It was actually a post he made on shacknews quite
awhile back.

Edit: don't know if you meant the server move or the
website revamp(which is what I was referring to.)

As Crunchy said, the server move info is at the top
of the forums.
