Yesterday I was in the mood to try to beat EP1 in Professional (I still hadn't tried) and managed to do it without dying too much, heh. :P The extended ending left me wishing for more, how lucky that EP2 is nearly there... :P

I still have 3 (4, but I'm not going after 'Grim Reaper'... yet) general achievements to get: 'DYNAMITE', 'Incredibly Metal' and 'Good Timekeeping Skills'. I know how to get all of them, but I was wondering: What boss do I have to kill with Merlijin? Can I 'jump' to that level using the 'planetary' room in the AMC base? :)

You have to beat the BattleLord at the end of the "Atmospheric Processing Facility" level in the "Classic Usermap" episode ^_-

You just have to kill any boss with Merlijn basically, the best way to do it is to just play a Duke usermap with a boss at the end of it :)

Like I said, but I don't remember if there's another level apart from "Atmospheric Processing Facility" that has a boss in it :/
I think there's also the tropical town level as well that has a boss at the end (not "Wet Dream" it's another level that uses the same textures and the "pob.mid" music).

Because I think that Mini-Battlelords don't count.

What James is implying is that you can download any old user map, dump it into the AMC TC main directory, and just play that to kill the boss. If it's a map with a high enemy count then that should also help with the Grim Reaper achievement.

The AMC TC should be fully compatible with any vanilla Duke user map, that doesn't come with custom art.

Micky, I didn't see it that way sorry ^^ But even so it's possible to get the achievement without having to play one of the original duke maps or a usermap from elsewhere ...

Zaxtor, I suppose it still does but since I'm not in developement I can't tell for sure but I don't see why it could have been removed, it's too much of a sympathetic feature.

Like I said before I suggest "Atmospheric Processing Facility", because at the end you can have 200 armor and a lot of Ammo for the Bow, the Blunderbuss and you also get a temporary rocket launcher

Done. It wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Thanks for the suggestion, having 200 armor, the Blunderbuss and a temporary rocket launcher really helped in the end. :)

You could also do it in the Tropical Town level (not Wet Dream, the other one with same texture set) but it's harder since you're cornered in a building and the battlelord right at the entrance if you don't get out quickly enough ...

Is there a way I can get rid of the combat knife and just have the mighty foot?
The combat knife doesn't seem to work against anything (eg. half dead troopers, grates, slimers eating your face) and the only way at the moment that I can use my foot is if I swing my knife harmlessly to get my stamina down.
This is very painful when I have a slimer eating my face.

You should have the option to pick no melee weapon in the loadout screen, if you click on that than you'll go back to using the foot.

Is it normal that we can't download the patch on MoDB ?

It seems to be different from the one you posted on Mediafire and more complete :/

I don't know either, just tried again and it's currently downloading but I assure you it didn't want to earlier in the day, I guess the servers or mirrors were playing games on me :/

BTW is it normal that I can't fire the Golden Jackhammer ?
I used dnstuff in the base just to test it and even though it reloads upon selection (like any weapon) it won't fire ...

EDIT : never mind it works now, very odd ...

Question about episode 2: Why is it called "Showdown in Hong Kong"? Were there sentimental reasons for it, or are the parts in China and Japan supposed to be the main focus of the episode?

Sentimental reasons, I did some photoshops years ago of AMC forum members in various action movies and stuff (you can still see these in IW actually, in the Subway in episode 4) and the names of the episodes are what the movie titles are. The first part of the plot roughly co-insides with the plot of the posters (but changed dramatically obviously)

China/Japan are a big focus of the episode, 5 maps isn't small, although the final mission was pretty damn long as well. James' reason is the primary one of course, but I think it's extremely cool that the squad gets to visit all these exotic locations around the world (and beyond). We've already started work on episode 3, which as has been mentioned previously, has a chunk set in Egypt, and it feels pretty good walking around these giant ancient egyptian structures. The TC will be pretty damn long epic adventure by the time it's finished.

God... after an almost 4-hour hell of quick save/load game I can say that... I've beaten the Jungle Base level! :D And I even managed to find more than half of the secrets! :D
Zaxtor's new equipment (Firestorm, Galil, the 'Book of Nature' (Veridi?)) is making him more... 'playable', but I missed some temporary gun with ammo against 'supernatural' enemies for some sections of the map. Luckily, I'm always wearing a silver knife in my inventory... but having to cut the ghosts was a bit tedious, haha!

Does anybody know why I can't fire the nuclear bomb with the Galil? I read that someone was having the same problem as me, but I can't remember who. :D
Anyway, I'm using the patch 2.0.1 beta James uploaded a while ago, maybe in the new patch this is fixed. I'll have to try.

IT WAS ME !!

Thank goodness someone has the same problem as me with Zaxtor's Galil, I have a similar but reversed problem with the Golden Jackhammer.

If that can help Rhai, You can't fire the Galil's alt fire when picked up in a level but if you get it with a cheat it oddly functions properly, I have no idea why that's very strange O_o

I've just tested it and the gun works absolutely fine for me, whether I picked it up in a level or cheated it in. Double check your loadout screen and see if just the galil is highlighted, it might be a bug with the selection or something?
