The Post Thread

I was reffering to Super Mario Kart, but to me, that's the first one, so it's always just "Mario Kart". The only Mario Kart I actually liked was Mario Kart 64, out of Nintendo's racing games, I always prefered F-Zero (Oh, and, Mode 7 FTW!) - Then, F-Zero 64 came out, I remember getting that and wondering if it would be as good as the SNES version...

I turned on the TV, the volume had been left high but I didn't notice. I put the cartridge in and hit the power switch... All of a sudden, the Nintendo 64 logo appears and this loud metal riff blasted from the speakers, I had already decided that this game was probably the best game on the N64. Man, I miss the days when Nintendo used to rock, even Yoshi's Island (One of only two games that I get emotional over, it came out on my 5th birthday too!) started rocking out when you got to the Final Boss.

I haven't listened to the original demos of Sonic 2's music, I've been out of touch with gaming for a while and the only titles I care about these days are survival horror - unfortunately, the genre seems to be dead.

Hahahahaha! I've never once thought that anyone on the street would know about barely one but both Final Fight and Streets of Rage in order to make a valid comparison.

By the way, the best home version of Final Fight 1 came out for Mega CD, although the masterpiece Final Fight 3 is SNES exclusive.

Eventually Bomber Games made Streets of Rage Remake which is the greatest side scrolling beat em up ever concieved to this day, Sega stopped the project but unfortunatly for those morons the game was done and released as a torrent so everyone can play it. It has all characters, remixed music, all stages, differant paths and an editer more people need to play it.

Sonic 2's soundtrack was more complex in Beta versions, there is a beta where the music breaks and after that, all tracks seem to have been cut back and share a lot of the same patches, it appears they broke it and slapped it together at the last minute, the same stands for the rest of the game - not saying the game wasn't fun, it was fun, but it was broken and certainly quite far from what it was meant to be.

In what way was Sonic 2 "broken?" Sonic 2 is one of the most polished games I've ever played. Cutting out Hidden Palace Zone, Wood Zone, and Genocide City Zone doesn't make a game broken. Hidden Palace and Wood Zone sucked anyway. I doubt Genocide City ever got off the drawing board. Furthermore, there's no proof Dust Hill ever existed.

I just compared the Simon Wai Beta and the final version, and you're right, the music playback is slightly less smooth, but the tempo is too slow on most of the tracks. IMO, only the boss music is superior on the beta.

Genocide City is actually in the game, try Metropolis Zone Act 3. Dust Hill was supposed to exist. There are other things that matter, such as one of the springboards does not work in the final which did in the Beta, the game is far from polished, it is disjointed, it suffers from slowdown and the soundtrack is disappointing. The damn title screen didn't even work properly.

The point of a Beta is that it's not finished, had the volume levels been fixed and a few other tweaks, it is easy to see that the Beta music was far superior - keep in mind it sounds quite different when you run the beta on the hardware. There are about 7 more Betas to play with, once you've tested them all, you start to feel more and more like the final game is a shadow (hehe, Shadow) of what it was meant to be and far from polised, you feel more like it was just a half-assed, slapped together cash-in.

Of course, I can understand if you have nostalgia for the game, I like some games that are truly awful purely because I grew up with them.

The only "broken" think I can think of in Sonic 2 is that the boss physics suck compared to the first one or S3K.

I've played with all those betas. There are no major game play differences, just incremental bug fixes and improvements. It's always had slowdowns, I'll give you that. But Springboards? A title screen you claim is broken but isn't? How is it a shadow of what it was supposed to be? There was nothing missing!

You made a bullshit claim and then tried to back it up by grasping at straws. This isn't the first time you've done this:

http://forums.3dreal...ead.php?t=32235

I found that thread three days ago looking for more information on LameDuke.

I'm out. I'm not going to ruin this thread and turn it into a debate between a sane man and a brick wall, because that isn't courteous.

You need to learn how to listen.

Yeah, and hill jumping. Nothing is broken in that game, it's just High Treason formulating crap in his head, sticking to his guns, and acting like a dick when called out on his own bullshit.

Wow, okay, so this forum reposted the content of my edit in a new reply, then I deleted it, then when I went to modify the orignal post it reverted it to the revision before what I already did. When I saved those edits it duplicated the first half of my post, and I had to go back in and delete that.

Weird.

Whatever, I've given up paying any real amount of attention, you started by making valid points and it was a civilised debate but now you're just clutching at straws and being a fool, I was simply going to agree to disagree if you carried on, but you lowered the conversation by another step. Oh, and I don't have time to rummage around in ancient threads and read things I posted in my irresponsible youth, I learn from my mistakes and I think you should probably take a leaf out of my book.

As I stated in my first post about the Genesis etc, you are just butthurt, my advice is to not take the internet and people you don't know so seriously as you tend to look foolish if you do. Especially given that all of this is over some 20 year old gaming systems that nobody in their right mind gives a rats ass about.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm tired and I'm going to sleep before people start making stupid claims that they can't back up.

Maybe you should follow your own advice, because you're seriously very close to being permabanned again (for good, this time) due to how much of an obnoxious douchebag you are.

Come on, much worse things have happened on duke4.net without any consequences. And some participants have quite a reputation nowadays.

No, but somehow you have acquired a bad tag indeed. Be calmer than the others.

Agreed, the hate HighTreason seems to get is unjustified, personal, and dishonourable. I may not know the whole story but if cheating in video games is enough for you to be considered a horrible human, people have their heads on backwards or upside down and those people need to experience real hardship and pain from others and then evaluate who is good and who is really bad. Down vote this post all ye want but bullying should never be tolerated.

Yeah this is like the second or third time I've gotten into an obnoxious immature argument with him. It's always the same with that guy.

I can't stress enough that I randomly ran into that old thread of his...I take a lot of things seriously in life, but The Internet is not one of them.

I'm serious. I hate playing them now. I didn't really play games when sidescrolling was the thing, i was very young when that was. But if i did play back then, i might have liked them, and therefore have some nostalgia thing with them. Just like i have with duke3d :D I am very bad at trying new things -.- Show me a good free sidescroller and i will give it a try.

@Rasmus Thorup; That's interesting, because I don't really enjoy most of the modern side-scrollers, which makes me wonder if most of what I feel for old ones is due to nostalgia, even if I haven't played them before - if that makes sense. I do think, tough, that you are missing/have missed out on some great games.

It's Australia Day today.

Usually you get together with all your neighbours and have a barbecue.
Unfortunately, I woke up at 4:30 am to an excrutiating pain in my right shoulder. I took two asprin, and that didn't do anything, so I took 3 codeine tablets, and after an hour those started to kick in. Must have had that pain for 3 hours. I ended up watering all the outdoor plants for my parents (something I normally never do) to take my mind off it.

On the plus side, I found a sulphur crested cockatoo eating walnuts from our neighbour's tree as they sometimes do, which always cheers me up (especially when they eat with their 'hands').

On the whole side-scrolling argument; the problem I find is that the gameplay is rather limited due to the two dimensional nature of the genre, there's simply much more going on in a 3D game.

I saw that Duke 3D video pop up in my subscriptions... I posted videos of that version years ago - you are a worthy adversary. :D

On a serious note, I'd reccomend checking Bam's videos out though, they're quite good for killing a few minutes.

Internet has people communicating with each other. It's not like The Internet manipulating others' answers or people somehow are different. Just like in real life people tend to say bullshit. So I don't really get phrases like "what did you expect, it's internet". Yeah, anonymity assist in general bullshitting, but that's all there is.

Follow this man's advice exactly. He knows what he is talking about. Blackhearted was pretty bad and remained unbanned a lot longer than he should have, and of course there was that half-spambot. Since High Treason came back I have not seen any reason to ban him. Arguments like this tend to escalate for reasons I don't care to discuss in this short post. Keep a cool head so we don't get into meta-arguments like this any more.

Maybe people like Blackharted and Destiny have worn down the tolerance of mods and the general community at duke4.net? Of course I'm a relative latecomer to the Duke scene so I don't know who or what went on beforehand.

I think it is an old feud between TX and HighTreason. They get on each other's nerves a little..or at least they did previously and I suppose sometimes HT still does say things that piss off TX on some personal level (maybe).

I think there are other people who should be closer to ban than HT, but that is because I find other people more annoying or offensive.

I was upset at something on the weekend (work related), and my brother said to me, a mindless worker is one who doesn't get into a lot of trouble. I happen to be quite chatty that day, which probably put me a bit off on Monday. I didn't say anything at work, but my mood was very silent that day.

We got one in our Domain aviary and it talks, says "Hello" and something that sounds like "Got a smoke"
But if you ignore the bird or say to it "Polly want a cracker" it goes fucking nuts.

Maybe I might record it one day.
