Ok. I'll try to stay close to your style. Hope you appreciate the back of the clock and the switch ^^.

I was working on the cone today with not good result and I think I'll have not enough time to do it properly soon, I suggest you drop it from the pack (I believe it only appear in one map).

You need to edit duke3d-megaton.def to include "include duke3d_voxel.def" and then copy the rest of the files aside from duke3d.def to gameroot.

Also note that it's probably not designed for Megaton anyway, there will be visual glitches.

At most, people have converted the HRP models to voxels. The Shadow Warrior beta had some voxels and they suck.

I think animated voxel enemies could look nice, but the amount of work to make it look good would be insane. Plus, enemies already have sprites from various angles for a sort of 3D effect. The voxels created by converting the 3D models look hideous in my opinion; the whole point of using voxels instead of 3D models is to keep the retro style intact, so converting 3D models is pointless.

Would you like that the steam guys to add them to their Duke Nukem Megaton?

I would be cool if they included them in the game.

What if you talk to them and convince them to add them?

It would be a great addition and more players would enjoy them.

Voxels should work in Megaton's polymost so it's possible, but I doubt that General Arcade are going to be adding random fan content.

Not everything works in the pack correctly though with Megaton. For some reason the switch in Hollywood Holocaust that opens the secret to the armour in the serving area is completely exposed with the voxels instead of being invisible compared to eduke32 with the voxel pack :blink:

ReaperMan, doing some research I found some guys made a very similar voxel for the toilet, vase, cannon and other voxels.

No, i think those are the ones converted from the old HRP.

Acutally is a voxel pack made for blood it seems, although it has several voxels (boxes, shells) made from shadow warrior images. There are a few that could be useful for duke. There´s even a similar version of your faucet with the red and blue colors for hot and cold water...

Could anyone possibly make a full voxel pack with items, weapons, objects, and enemies all in one zip file that can go into autoload? I would praise you like a god forever if there was one. The one in this thread is good, but there's also this:

And is it possible for first person player view weapon sprites to be voxels as well?

Those are just the 3D models converted to voxels, which is completely pointless and clashes with the aesthetic style of the voxels from ReaperMan's pack.

I agree that it doesn't fit with this pack. Completely pointless, no. There was a point to that pack, I just don't remember it right now :) maybe I just wanted to make the thing work.

To answer the question of voxel first person weapons. No they are not supported, you may either make sprites from the voxels, or convert voxels to a model format that is supported. I have done both, it doesn't really look good at all IMO.

Sprites of weapon held by Duke are already drawn in a perspective that looks 3D, and the perspective never changes, so a voxel model would look no different from the sprite.

I thought you made that pack back in the day because some peoples computers were having a hard time running the HRP.

Not to mention if you made the first person weapons at the same scale and detail of Duke 3d's they would look relatively the same.

ReaperMan remember the camera voxel I sent you?

Although it looked similar to the Duke Nukem security camera sprite it wasn´t 100% exact as the original sprite.

So I modified to make it look like the original camera:

Yeah, i was going to do a 1.1 release like a few weeks ago. However, I'm waiting on those voxels and possibly seeing if the Duke 3D models pop up.

Don't forget to send me a PM once your new pack is ready (with a short changelog if possible). I'd also like to see the hosted download on the HRP website updated at long last. Voxels need more love! ^^

Hi all, it's been a long time but I check the topic from time to time.

First of all, thanks to mxrtxn for uploading the blood voxels pack, i find it very interesting.

To ReaperMan : I don't have much time actually to work on voxels (I prefer spend my free time playing video games, sorry ^^') but I've just made a replacement for the traffic cone model. It's not perfect, but i find it much better than the 1st one.

I have keep the same file name for direct replacement if you are interested.

Maybe this summer I'll do more if I find the motivation.

PS : Since I'm not very good at painting directly the model in slab6, i join a "plain color cone" if someone want to give a try. I don't understand the shading of a voxel cone ^^'.
