On that note I have a Radeon HD 4850 512MB GPU in my 27 inch iMac. I haven't been sure that you are willing or able to address those bugs but keep on hoping that the next build that Marcus Herbert builds has it fixed. It works fine in Polymost but that's old hat and I would like to use Polymer on my preferred platform.

i got the same issue here. i may try rolling back the driver to 10.5 or earlier. but it's seems like a lot of hassle just for one game.

You can also set the texture filtering to liner and not have to roll back drivers.

hi there, im new to this forum. you all seem like a great bunch of people. im having the same type of white blocks and crashing issues. i have found if u load the eduke with hrp and duke plus just remember where your video filtering is and go to it when u see the white squares. if you change it to nearest or to linear the game will work. i find that it crashes once every 5 to 10 mins or so. i have a dual boot system with win 7 radeon 5870 driver 10.5. i have win xp service pack 3. latest driver. amd core 6x overclocked to 4.0 ghrz. 4gb ddr 3 2000 ram. ssd hard drive. ausus mb pro forgot the numbers lol. my question here is what xp driver should i roll back to???????????????? i have all my older games on my xp half of the computer so rolling back is not an issue. ive found having two oses on my comp solves a lot of problems.

I just recently bought Duke Nukem 3D and installed the HRP. The installation worked perfectly fine so I booted up the game.

Then I was met with the same white boxes that have been described by others in this thread.

I'm currently using an ATI card as well, Radeon HD 4850. I rolled back from the most recent drivers, and the problems still persists. Basically the game is unplayable at this point. It is impossible to see how much ammo or health I have. I just wanted to report the issue so the developers are aware that this doesn't seem to be just a few isolated cases. I'm hesitant to believe it is the ATI driver because I've reverted to several older drivers and the problem always exists. I'm using Windows 7 x86. If someone would like to see my logs, I can post that as well.

Anything higher than 10.6 causes the squares with the high res pack. You can get rid of the squares by setting texture filtering to "Liner". If you don't know where this menu option is, load Eduke with out the HRP make the settings and restart with HRP.

Yes, it's a little blurry, but playable.

Having the same problems with an ATI card. I was going to roll back the drivers, but then read about the Win7 64bit crashing. I have already ordered a new nVidia card (a GTS 240, seems like a nice affordable card). This was one of my first ATI cards and it will probably be my last. Although I must say, I don't see this type of problem on ANY other game, so I am wondering how this can only be happening with this one?

Oh, and I didn't order an nVidia due to this problem, ordered one before this cropped up. I just prefer good old nVidia.... I'm comin' home baby! ;)

How many games do you play that are OpenGL based compared to DX? ;)

Ahhhh, okay, good point. I may just test a few things out using OpenGL just to see how they run. But yeah, normally they're all DirectX based. Ah well, SOON I will have an nVidia in my system. I was almost tempted to get another ATI card, glad I didn't. I like to dabble in some 3D (opengl) programming myself, this is good to know.

Has anyone tried the 10.10 leaked beta drivers to see if the white textures still exist?

I don't run vista or win7 so I can't not use this.

10.10 drivers suck and still cause the white boxes.

Ah, having the same problem, this explains it.

However, as my two cents, my first and only nvidia card has given me SO much problems, I had to, as someone here said, "troll forums to look for solutions" to my problems with it, had graphic corruption in some games. Then, it simply died and I switched to Ati, as I both have had enough of problems with shitty nvidia cards and also having to dig deep and have limited purchasing options due to them selling the same cards under new names, sometimes even two types of differing cards under the same name, with no way to discern them aside of personal examination (for ,an example of the first problem check 8800GTS/9800GTX and 9800GTX+ and GTS250 cards, for the second one check the GTS250 card again, which can have either a newer GPU, or an older one, with no way to know which is which aside of examining it for the number of power connectors, as the old one requires two, while the new one requires just one). And yeah, since switching I have never looked back, only got pissed at some developers designing their games to intentionally cripple Ati cards. Good to know that Plagman doesn't do that, though.

This little rant aside, how can one turn on linear filtering in the game with white textures for all the text?

Disable the HRP before you start the game, (make sure the autoload folder is not ticked)
Then change it to linear etc then restart it with the autoload ticked.

why not direct those to here, and let them complain to the makers, so ATI, get their act together?

10.12 also has the problem. The problem is there on both Windows and Linux. As it stand, we would need to be able to easly install and switch between multiple versions of their driver. Every driver version cause some kind of problem. One year after the making of the 5970 radeon and it's still having major problems. ATI/AMD is playing the ostrich as usual.

In OS X the latest ATI drivers that are a part of the latest OS update don't have those problems in fact the problems they did have previously with the ambient lighting being reversed was fixed and everything is rendering correctly. However the problem with there being some kind of memory leak that causes sectors that you aren't in to not be rendered after a while still remains but I don't know if it's because of the drivers. But yeah there's no white textures or crash bugs and there's never been any as far as I can remember in OS X at least. Like I said though all games in OS X run with OpenGL and all render correctly so obviously IMO it's strange that ATI can't get their act together in windows or especially linux because in linux OpenGL is the only choice there like in OS X.

I'll let someone else rip you to shreads for the posting atrocities that you've committed. For now I'll make things simpler for you.

Follow these steps.
1. Make a new folder.
2. Find the duke3d.grp from your torrent and put it in this folder.
3. Download the latest eduke32 zip which can be found at the top of the list here http://dukeworld.duk...ke32/synthesis/
4. Unzip the contents into the same folder as the duke3d.grp
5. Double click on eduke32.exe to play.

The torrent you have would be incredibly bloated with unnecessary files and have large portions out of date. The folder you now have contains everything you need to play the vanilla duke nukem game. I suggest that if you want to add any mods or TCs to it you download them separately, which isn't a big deal as the file sizes aren't that big. It's not like you're going to play all the mods in that torrent anyway.

Here is solution to ATI new drivers for being able to atleast play... turn of polymer  putt either on linear or nearest in graphic options iniside the game..
if you cant see anything when you enter the game.. uncheck autoloader then go inside sett to linear or nearest .. go out of eduke .. restart eduke with bat or not check autoloader and now you can play
only no polymer.. polymer works but randomly freezes

well i exactly dont know how to combine mods... i can now play dukeplus and dnf3d cause there is a bat file in the package i downloaded.. but i do not know how i would add these two to say duke64...
so for now i am playing the levels by level select

First off your explanation is ling winded and badly worded. My personal solution would be to by an nVidia card as they're never the ones that have these strange problems.

On the matter of mods, you just can't combine them, each mod must be run independently. You can either have dukeplus or duke64 but not both at the same time. And in the case where there is t a batch file, the way to run a mod would be to select its folder in the dropdown menu. I don't know why you'd have to play levels by level select though.

i really enjoy the duke64 levels much more .. is there a way i can make them follow each other in dukeplusdnf3d?

I don't remember having to play through the levels like that, but if it's the only way to do it, its because it's an unfinished beta release. The final version will be much more professional, and here's the website: http://www.resurgenc...kenukem.com.br/

If you want to make te episodes play in order yourself, that's easy enough. First you need to open up the duke 64 con file and define an episode: http://wiki.eduke32....efinevolumename
Then you can define all the levels in the right order: http://wiki.eduke32....Definelevelname

Look at how the dukeplus mod defined a new episode as an example. I think it's called userplus.con or something like that and it's in the cons folder in resources

Ati drivers are open source, right? Have any latest third party drivers been working with polymer?

What do you mean by open source? They are still working out bugs. It's New Years Eve. Nothing doing until next week.
I have HD 5770, and there are other problems, not just Eduke32. Why not focus with those cards that work? Or is the white boxes phenomena on other cards as well?
