Roland SC-55 Music Packs "Updates 'n stuff"
#151 Posted 18 June 2014 - 10:01 PM
I've also recorded and uploaded the soundtrack for Hocus Pocus!
Available in OGG, MP3, and FLAC. Tracks include metadata loop tags (except for MP3). The original game obviously doesn't support music packs, but rf` made a fantastic 3d Hocus Pocus mod for Doom 2 called Hocusdoom and when played with ZDoom/GZDoom, the music pack works great! Only issue is for some reason it ignoes the LOOP_END metadata tag. I'm looking into it. It's not a problem with the tracks that I can see, though.

Actually, I've designed it for Android Galaxy S3 (my phone) dimensions specifically and haven't set it for other resolutions yet, but does the design seem coherent like it should be or are things jumbled around? Any web gurus here have any suggestions?

Doom II SC-55 Music Pack available
Both volume boosted and raw recordings in OGG, MP3, and FLAC formats. Tracks contain loop metadata tags for seamless looping which works in Doom/ZDoom and Chocolate Doom. The only exception is MP3 which doesn't retain the data. All songs fadeout when played back in a media player for a great listening experience.
There is an issue with at least ZDoom/ZDoom where it's not respecting the LOOP_END tags so the songs fadeout. I'm looking into it. It's strange because the Doom 1 tracks loop fine.
At any rate, enjoy!

Not so! If you compress the audio files or an uncompressed zip file in a 7z file with proper settings, the increase goes away. The 808 MB Doom 2 pack compressed to 471 MB.

At least ZDoom/GZDoom accepts 7-Zip packages, even though file endings would need to be renamed to .pk7. I use it for compressing my wads, and it makes a huge difference regarding size.

I almost have to apologize for releasing this, however I must complete every necessary music pack with the SC-55! This is one of those special exceptions I make for a game that didn't necessarily support the SC-55. Super 3D Noah's Ark used the Wolf3D engine, however it was re-engineered to utilize MIDI files that playback on OPL chipsets rather than the Adlib-only IMF format that id used. Because of that, recording this pack was very easy, and since the songs were quite short, seemed worth my while. Almost. Not the best music in the planet, but it might sound better coming out of the SC-55 than the other devices you've heard it on. When Super 3D Noah's Ark is supported by ECWolf or what have you and gets digital music pack support, here is the music pack.

Then you could 7-zip an uncompressed zip file. You would want to make the 7-zip archive solid anyway, which would be a performance nightmare for a port to use directly.

I don't have one. Wish I did. Would be fun to mess around with. Along with the SC-88pro, SC-8820, and SC-8850.

My Yamaha MU would eat them for a light snack anyway... (Considers reworking DN3D MIDIs for Yamaha synths)
Out of curiosity, why would you want an SC-88, Pro, 8820 and 8850? They're practically identical.

My assumption being that you wishing you had one and not doing so by now must be based on cost as they aren't exactly uncommon, it'd be cheaper just to buy one module. This is the same reason I bought a sampling drum machine - so I didn't have to dedicate a room and money I didn't have to amassing a huge stack of devices I didn't really need.

BTW, I listened to those songs of yours that you linked to in another thread. Some of those were pretty good. Sorry for the slightly off topic post.
