Yeah, I won't.

Your map is not accurate enough. Not just parts that you intentionally changed it, but you just wasn't carefull enough on making the sectors with the exact same size, etc. Some guys (for example Nukey) worked very hard to make every centimeter of their levels identical to the original. It would be disrespectfull to them to include your map.

Besides I don't like the changes you made, I think they are icky, sorry.

I find your post extremely offensive and disrespectful. I worked my ass off for weeks on that map, you have absolutely no right to call it "crap" because "I didn't work on it long enough".

If that's the way you feel about my map, I'm glad it's not part of your mod, you're an asshole.

And by the way, the only things I changed in the map were add lighting and fix texture errors. The geometry is as accurate as it's going to get based solely on texture tiling from a game on a console rendered in 320x200. There is one other method of porting levels, and that takes ten times as long and still isn't accurate due to perspective distortion and rounding errors in the engine.

He didn't say you didn't work on it "long enough" but that it isn't "accurate enough" and that you weren't "careful enough".

Is there a forum fight going on here? Cause i've got a headache and a beef and the only cure to my beefy headache is to break something! ... okay i'll go back to mapping now. Falco I agree with you, he was pretty blunt and we all know what rhymes with blunt.

You guys are stupid. The aim of the project is a port, not a thrown together mod. Either you do the maps to a T or you don't.

He didn't say it was crap, he said you weren't careful enough to perfectly recreate the original map with 100% accuracy, flaws and all, and that it would be disrespectful to the people who actually did go to the trouble to do that if something made to a different standard was included. He could have loved your changes and it still wouldn't be fit for inclusion for the same reasons. I don't think having a particular goal in mind makes him an asshole at all.

Like TX said, even if I liked your work, I wouldn't include it.

But you are overreacting because of some criticism.

Here is a comparison beetween Piracy in the emulator and the one made by Nukey

Now here is your Shaft compared to the original

Posted Image Posted Image

And this is just the beggining of your map, there are a lot more blatant differences.

Sorry, I go on the implied meaning of the post, which is that XYZ person's map is better because they worked harder on it. I spent weeks on the map, it wasn't a 5 minute job.

I really don't care about criticism, I know the map is good from the number of downloads it's received. What I care about are people making ignorant comments about my work.

Geometrical differences =! texture differences. When I made the map, I used all of the original textures (with what I thought were the sizes used in the game) for geometrical reference and either fixed the textures so they were tiled/aligned and looked proper, or swapped a couple out for ones that I thought looked slightly better. That was NO easy task, and took nearly a week.

All of the "icky" and "blatant" differences are nearly all purely texture and brightness (lights), bar two areas (the nuke button and the hallway to secret area.) The nuke area and textures could easily be reverted, and the secret hallway was done that way because the doors were extremely difficult to make due to the angles, even with the grid off.

You are only thinking about yourself. Why don't you think about how much time the others spent on it?

The areas I showed in the screenshots are clearly of different sizes

Give this a read and don't come back here and post again until you're done and understand it.

This conversation is a perfect example of what private messages are for. You guys could have talked about the map without having a public shitfest about it.
