Wait... what? After all these years?
My most imminent question: Will there also be a version for those who bought the 3DR release? It seems on the website they are redirecting you to Steam and/or GOG, even for the original game. Which isn't exactly encouraging.
Otherwise: Is it possible to obtain a DRM-free version of Aftershock's fury.exe (without depending on Steam DLLs)? It would be highly appreciated.
I'll be sort of surprised if it doesn't appear in the 3DR store at point as a digital download, but even if it doesn't the files provided by GOG would work just fine if they have it setup in a way that you can purchase the DLC through them without having purchased the base game from them as well. Byte for byte, what you get in the GOG releases has always been 100% identical to the set of files that were sold as a digital download directly from the 3D Realms store.
You can also take the Steam version and easily create your own 100% drm free version of it (
including the exclusion of the Steam dll files if you want) by copying the fury.grp and fury.grpinfo files from game folder in Steam and pasting them into a new folder, then just compile your own drm free binary from the eduke32 source files with the command
make FURY=1
