Rush Hour is alive!
First level, the beginning. You will hear jazz here.

That looks much better than those shots you showed of the strip club a while a back, well done.

Pretty good if it works flawlessly in classic. I suspect there would be some minor glitches from certain angles though. Probably nothing too noticeable if you're not looking for them.

That calls to mind ideas for adding a second floor to the building.
#4719 Posted 23 April 2013 - 08:52 AM
That's really awesome. Are you going to add vents and drains and that kind of stuff to it as well? What are you making this for?
#4720 Posted 23 April 2013 - 08:56 AM
These are just "experiments" to see the top of the buildings, but I am not going to add any detail to it. Duke-Burger is awesome the way it is.
#4721 Posted 23 April 2013 - 09:06 AM
I think it could benefit from adding vents and drains. If you don't plan to do anything with the map, I'd like to play around with it.

Wasn't there one vertical air duct that you couldn't enter since it went up too high? Wouldn't mind seeing that on the roof.

Nice work, Fox... all these pics just give me an idea for a small addon : " Let's TRoR " , all classic maps modified with some roofs and other things...
#4726 Posted 24 April 2013 - 02:35 AM
To be honest, with roofs on maps they would be more interesting for multiplayer in my opinion.

That wouldn't be too hard. Someone already converted the original maps to have TROR water, and I added a roof to Duke Burger myself a while back as an experiment. But I agree with Fox and Lunick; what's the point (besides maybe multiplayer)?
The maps are perfect the way they are, and that's how they were designed. Very few of the original maps were intended to have a roof you could go on. If you did add a roof and put some extra supplies up there, you're throwing off the gameplay balance, and if you only add a roof there for aesthetic purposes, well, unless you have a jetpack you probably wouldn't notice much. There's also the question of how much extra detail you want to put in. It all starts getting messy when everyone wants to put their own two cents in based on their personal opinion.

This whole TRORing appeals to the five year old me who tried and failed to go on the roof and wondered why the sky stopped me (not understanding what was going on at that time) and also why you can sometimes stick lazers on said sky.
I've got the basic layout of my level done now;
An office you don't spend much time in;
Crew quarters in an undersea base;
There's a lot more, some of which you might never see, also, I invented something, should you ever play this you might get why posting this is going to amuse me;
Assuming you don't figure it out already.
Obviously detail and enemies is mostly absent from here, as well as some shading which needs work.
i am at around 12000 walls, have never used this many before.

If its going to be face paced action you don't need a lot of details to trip over or move around. And making the rooms like you did,more than just 4 walls and a ceiling, helps to give details without actually having to lay out sprites and stuff all over the place.
The pic is just more aimless messing around when I'm too lazy to do real mapping.

I was having problems with my flashlight. When it started working again I wish it hadn't.

Cool. Is this some sort of horror map?
It is my modification Rush Hour. This is part of first episode: "My vacation in NY". You will kick asses in old NY. So, you'll find offices, jazz clubs, bars, old streets. Btw, it is winter in the mod

Alright, very nice. I like the custom art you've got going there as well. Looking forward to it.
