The sonic resonator weapon is a pretty good concept but those hud sprites need some work and I don't know where it would fit in to the weapon set. The scorpion tank and organic turret are just not needed...we already have tons of new enemies by sebabdukeboss20, and honestly I think the design of the scorpion tank is weak, which may be why it was never finished. Organic turrets that shoot slime balls or something could be cool, but I would rather use new sprites for those.

New animations on old enemies would be great, but aside from the pigcop melee I'm not aware of any. Given the focus on Duke + Bombshell coop, I would also like to avoid adding more enemy animations that only have one angle.

There would be something cooler actually. Spits poison, but the concept is similar.

Possible, but usually multidirectional melee sprites have a concrete use only in (coded) infighting situations or multiplayer aesthetic, on sigleplayer where you are the only objective of the enemies one direction it's enough. Nevertheless Protector Drone has multidirectional melee attack that sometimes does when jumps for scenic factor.

AA does need the multiple angles for pretty much those reasons you stated. There is already team gameplay with Duke + Bombshell, plus there may be infighting later.

Oh, sorry if i did not post something before about this mod.

Well, i have to say that when i think to an "Alien Armageddon" i really expect a ton of new bad guys, ready to be ass-kicked :lol:

Indeed; so it starts as a great showcase for Sebab's works and it evolves into an overhaul mod with tons enemies and characters, all into the "DP-essential" core code by Dan.

So, this is what i think so far:

As for new enemies and characters, the main feature, you can virtually add whatever you want and this is great; i would put many variants of a single enemy/character, if the work was less intensive and time consuming. The thing is how to randomize them and keep encounters balanced.

As for Bombshell, i'm not really into NPC companions in games, expecially in duo; it depends on how you want to modify the gameplay and the balancing, if she should be always present or not, necessary or not, mortal or immortal, or complementary in some mechanics; for example i would split weapons among Duke and Bombshell, or give her access cards; or, using her to reach the firepower needed for all the new enemies. Reviving her can become frustrating or pointless, maybe a squad of (disposable) bombshells make more sense at some point.
One interesting feature would be to switch among characters; different life, speed and firepower, and the ability to heal/revive the "partner".
I think that the simplest thing atm is to put her as a replacement for the holoduke, with a sort of teleport-beacon, in a way similar to dukebots in other Dan mods.
And... officially, Duke3d is already an adult-oriented game, then some more "hot" interactions (with the right taste) would be nice :lol:. Involving as strippers, as podbabes, as Bombshell.

The rest is a countour, i think. It is very good that some maps are in development, but the right code should make this mod adaptable to any map. I would take only care of weapons dropped by new enemies. And i'm a maniac of weapons and alt-fires, too :P , but i think this mod can walk on a different way and keep the single fire (mostly).

I've definitely got some stuff in store for the babes. But since this is an actual game mod, I'm gonna try to keep the new babe stuff R rated instead of XXX rated.

We have similar thoughts. I'll address some of them:

Enemy Variants: Variants of the same enemy sprite set can add a lot of depth to a game, and of course I have done that plenty of times before in mods I have coded. Maybe Bombshell would like to check out some naked guys, for example -- that would sure make it easier to avoid charges of misogyny, too.

Map adaptability: AA will be extremely light in terms of new mapping features. This is partly because I don't want to alienate experienced level designers who are used to vanilla Duke. If the mod is overwhelming people will be less likely to map for it.

Yeah Bombshell is always much more interesting as one of the few chicks who isn't into Duke. Maybe she's gay, maybe she prefers less masculine guys, who knows - but her character always gave the impression that she was in it to give Duke a run for his money, not to be Robin to his Batman (or to be a potential squeeze either)

As for hot content, one thing is nudity and one thing is the sexual content.
Tthe first AA video shows clearly nude stripper nipples and the v-spot of the hooker in the bar; nice, but it's all on the final tone of this mod. Random sex, censored or not, is pointless and of bad taste imho, and not really into Duke3D atmosphere. And i don't think my fan girls would flash their titties at me at any time, if i was Duke :P
I talked about simple interactions, not for having a porn games for sure: for example some spicy dialogs more than "shake it baby", the ability to rescue abducted babes if possible, so they should result nude (but they try to cover themselves) ; also, something with bombshell depending on how she is a part of the gameplay, other than her personality.
I just proposed something to enrich AA npc base according to the quality you shown.

It's a fine line to walk on for sure, just like the original game. A part of me would like to get really explicit with interactions but I know its not good for the mod. And sorry, I accidentally hit the downvote instead of the upvote and I cannot seem to change it.

I just added a little feature whereby if you have taken damage due to drowning, and then you surface, the damage caused by drowning is healed. Of course it doesn't heal any actual wounds, only the damage caused by having no oxygen under water. Does this seem reasonable? Too easy? Do any of us enjoy Duke getting permanent damage due to holding his breath too long? :P

it reminds me of half life, IIRC ... useful but not necessary, i often stay the less possible underwater when i don't have the scuba gear.

Plus i don't know about asphyxiophilia in duke community :P

I think it'll be balanced enough if the lost health is healed slowly encouraging the player to recover from the drowning before engaging in combat again.

I think it's fair. If it returns to the starting health incrementally at about the same rate it got lost, I think it'll balance itself. Like Richard said, this was pretty much exactly how Half-Life did it.

That would be more realistic. However, Duke 3D doesn't go for realism, especially if it slows down gameplay. Realistically, surfacing should not instantly give Duke the full air timer either, yet it does in the base game. I guess it might be ok for it to take a few seconds, though.

Not a bad idea to want that fixed, but I feel like that's the kind of thing that is better handled by a change to EDuke32 itself. I'm afraid that whatever hack I come up with will involve some kind of compromise or be invalidated down the road.

The babifier spawns a random NPC to replace the monster, so it depends on which one it is. A stripper will flash her boobs, a regular civilian will make a comment, the karaoke girl will do a dance, etc.

awesome!!

i can notice a small glitch. when the big pig rams an enemy and is interrupted, it still displays that scroll effect on its sprite

I emphatize on the first statement though.

That is correct! It is difficult to make out in all the chaos. The design that sebabdukeboss20 came up for them is cool, however it is difficult to see their guns.
