Haha I loved the "walk around for a bit after headshot" thing :)

Yeah, that was a great idea that WG had. And in case people think it is overdone, keep in mind it only happens if you blow off their head while they are walking and you are zoomed in on them (so you can easily go through the whole game and never even know about it).

Here is a short movie showing how the "pigcops" blow up after the changes I made earlier today:

The main difference is the improved blood spurting.

Those gibs look a lot better now than they were in the previous clips.

Can you only shoot their heads off with the shotgun, or can this be achieved with any weapon?

If you want just the head to come off with the rest of their body intact, you have to use alt-fire on the single barreled shotgun.

So it seems that only the shotgun's alt-fire (Ironsights) is capable of doing the aforementioned task huh?

Seems pretty clear to me that that is the case...

Shadow Warrior? Never played it. But I bet it was even more violent than Duke Nukem 3D.

Enemies would get cut to pieces with a sword, and randomly have arterial wounds that would spray blood everywhere.

Ooh. What a mess!

How about some blood remaining on the ground after those giant trails are spawned, like in, well, Blood?

Even without additional blood on the ground, the jibbing makes a very large number of sprites because of those in the air, especially when several monsters are jibbed at once. There's a few parts where the player has a BFG and could use it on over 20 monsters at a time. So, unless I get that optimized, I don't want to be putting more sprites on the ground.

Just found those pictures in National Geographic on YouTube for you, William. They're pretty amazing!

We probably all know what happens by now when you want something; DT goes and codes the effect for you.

We probably all know what to expect by now when KillerBudgie makes a post in the WGR2 thread :)

KillerBudgie, you sound like a chatterbot.

Maybe. But I'm a person, not a program. And even so, you probably wouldn't be the first one to call me that.

We're going to release episode 1 on the Duke forums some time in the next 8 hours. Then it will be released at Mod DB at a later date (probably next week) when we have a new trailer.

DeeperThought. You saying that has just made my week.

At least I know it's coming out before Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Has any of you placed pre-orders on it?

No. Some of us actually have better things to do than be constantly victimized by nade spammers and n00bs who shoot through walls.

Just an idea for the WGR2 guys : how about changing the minotaur (pretty useless and redundant with the guys freed from walls) with something like a "winged eye", that can freely fly for a limited time and share its vision with the player, so you can prevent some of the most dangerous spots ?

I think that'll get a bit confusing.

Speaking of the Minotaur - holy shit! I never even used it, or the POW ability. Then again I was only playing on Let's Rock.

The minotaur was awesome fun to use, don't lose him!

People reach conclusions about the usefulness of certain items or weapons based on their particular experience playing this episode on whatever difficulty level they chose. But it's important to keep in mind that how useful something is depends a lot on what other items you have and the level design. The minotaur could clear a room full of weak to medium strength enemies in less than a minute with minimal risk to the player. If the only weapon you had was a chainsaw, that would be pretty damned useful.

Likewise, people think that the reflective shield isn't very useful (plasma gun alt-fire), but if there was a map where 3 cyberdemons were shooting at you down a corridoor and not enough room to dodge, using the shield would reflect their shots back and kill them, and it would be the only means of survival.

How is the minotaur useless and redundant when compared with the hopelessly weak accursed heroes? They aren't even similar.

Besides, minotaurs rule.
