Also, what the hell is he doing with his light saber? It looks like he's going to kill himself or at least cut off his wrist holding it like that.

It's not that impressive, though. Honestly I see little difference between this one and others. Just that the background is white and not black like TFA's. They don't even have originality in their poster designs.

With how great the Marvel Cinematic Universe was started and planned (and they were able to change things on the fly like adding Spider-Man), its weird to see how much they flubbed the new episode trilogy. It seems like the only thing that was planned before hand was to have each one focus on one of the original three heroes (Han Luke Leia) and everything else is made up as they go along. Last Jedi feels so disjointed it came off as more of a side plot instead of a main entry.

Abrams had a story draft or sketch for Episode XIII ... then Rian Johnson came along, threw that out of the window and made his own story.

Also, now Revenge of the Sith and The Rise of Skywalker have almost identical acronyms.

Promising
Those that know me, know that I am, not even a remote fan to the of the original Star Wars.
This, the new guard, maybe not like the original, fan based pool, but it is promising. In my never, ever, ever, ever, ever humble opinion.

It would have been okay were it not an arc trilogy/saga, but losely connected stories. Wasn't Kennedy supposed to be in charge of this story/concept-wise?

Well, she signed off on everything, yeah. She hired Rian Johnson because he made her "feel comfortable." Her other contribution was seeing the Captain Phasma concept art and saying "that's gotta be in the movie!" So they shoehorned that in.
Look, she may be a competent businesswoman as far as logistics and organizing is concerned but she knows crap all about storytelling and even less about what makes Star Wars great.

This shit is fucked up.

Mary Sue is a 5-stripe black-belt master that never practiced a day in her life, but is still meeting resistance while trying out for the high-school team
Luke worked his ass off to become the grand master, then he quit and died from an infected hangnail
general gender studies was the coach
other main characters are already on the team, or are supporting Mary Sue to get on the team
other side characters are teachers, councilors, parents, etc.
All the eye candy is gone and the cgi space battles are replaced with parking lot bullying. Keep the cringe acting and character inter-action. Embrace exactly how bad the last several movies have been.
The hero's tale from the original is long gone.
Even the badly done making of an evil guy isn't anywhere to be found.
It's all empty and superficial with a veneer of special effects in an exotic setting.
Dazed and Confused had a better story line and deeper plot than this drivel.

Both weren't a problem per se. In case of Rian they should have had a general story in mind and strictly(more or less) made him follow it in script.
In case of Plasma I see no problem. I suspect many designs in movies work like that. Isn't that the point of concept art?

all the characters are as disposable as the concept art super-trooper and Snoke.
Even Mary Sue can get scratched out of existence. There's no depth, and nothing relatable about her.

He was skyping to the parking-lot rumble from his toilet during a bout of severe constipation. He strained too hard and died from a brain aneurysm.
