Has anyone ever solved the shaky weapons in Blood II ?

I can get the game + expansion running with/without a wrapper, dgvodoo for example... i can get it to work with widescreen fixes and higher resolutions with another fix.

i have read all the guides there are for Blood 2 when it comes to new operating systems.

Only thing i cant solve is the damn hud weapons shake each time i stop after moving.
The fix people use is to cap the fps too 30 in the console but that sucks to play the game in such a low framerate.

Ive been messing around with different vsync settings and framerate caps, resolutions and settings but nothing will solve this damn weapon glitch.

Will there ever be a fixed .exe to run this game on new hardware?

To bad not enough people like Blood 2 so it cab get a proper source recreation or something.. anything to make it run great.

Anyone have the same issue as me with calebs weapons glitch/shake ?

Damn what wouldnt i do to get this solved...

Best regards.

I just noticed the keys on the piano on Steamboat (fifth Cryptic Passage level) are on backwards

I find the crytpic passage maps quite shoddy in some regards, still an ok addon.

I like most of the maps, yet they feel kinda unfinished, for example corpses that can't be gibbed in Lost Monastery and bullet proof mirrors and vases in the Old Opera House.

I have to agree to a certain extent. Cryptic Passage has great level design and good atmosphere, but still doesn't really feel like Blood. You can immediately tell it was made by different people. The same can be said for the sunstorm add-ons for the other build games. Great stuff, but a different approach from the main games: less arcady, less entertaining.

They're not the greatest levels, they're not the worst levels. I think Cryptic Passage's levels are a bit more forgiving than the Monolith episodes. Except the jumping sections after getting the first key in Mountain Pass...

Yeah, I forgot that. They give you way too much ammo.

Looking at the names of the game's PLUs, it seems that at one point there was to be a golden variety of spiders. Here is what spiders look like with the SPIDER2 palette applied.

Golden spiders? :D Man, it's good some stuff they planned were left out.

Of course, an alternate explanation would be they once planned a fourth spider color variation, scrapped it and reused the slot without changing the name.

But then I don't get to show off the palette swap!

Yeah... the same thing with "beast mode"... glad they cancelled that...

There's a PLU called beast but the beast in the plasma pack actually uses the P2 palette.

A few people have asked me this now and I have had people tell me they quit MAPEDIT because they couldn't copy paste on top of everything else. I just wanted to post this here too. I'm sure some people already know. But I see a lot of questions how to copy paste a sector inside an existing sector for Blood. I have a small video and other stuff lol.

I can do it faster, it works the same way in Mapster32;

One has to wonder why DOSBox captures invariably look shit. Either way, both methods are valid, yours has the advantage of keeping the outer textures whereas mine sometimes loses them as you're inheriting the properties of the formerly white wall, so it's faster if you only want to keep the inner geometry. Also, after filling in the first quadrilateral shaped red area on the left, you could just draw over the inverted-C-shaped piece in one go or even Alt-S it to save time and walls, might be useful if you're close to the limit and don't have enough left to create the other walls temporarily.

What are everyone's favourite levels?

1. Overlooked Hotel
2. The Haunting
3. Dark Carnival (these three are really close and could really end up in any order depending on my mood at the time)
4. Wrong Side of the Tracks
5. Sick Ward
6. Phantom Express
7. The Siege
8. Steamboat
9. Lost Monastery
10. They Are Here

My least favorite are probably Raw sewage, Thin Ice and Breeding Grounds, and if we count expansion levels Aqueducts and The Dungeon.

Whichever ones that doesn't include too many keys are probably my favorite levels. What's up with Q-Studios/Monolith and the massive amount of keys in Blood anyway?

Also, was it ever confirmed that the Beast sprite from Plasma Pak is the same one as the one that's originally going to be in Blood?

I guess it was to go beyond what other FPS at the time had? (three for Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, I think Powerslave had four?)

Six for Doom. There are three keycards and three skull keys.

Yes, but in vanilla Doom keycards and skull keys are interchangeable.

Sure. Functionally there are just three.

So many great levels in Blood. I almost entirely agree with your list ! I also love Forbidden Rituals.

My least favorite episode is probably Dead Reckoning... the levels are not really connected. And I always thought Crystal Lake to be a bit of a disappointment...

Yeah, Forbidden Rituals almost made the list

Let's see, favorite levels...

1. The Haunting
Seems to be an old map that stood the test of time to reach the final game, also seems a popular choice from people I've spoken to and that's well deserved, this map is awesome.

2. Mall of the Dead
That fucking music is awesome.

3. The Sick Ward
A game like Blood needed a hospital level and this one didn't disappoint... except my PC seems to invariably break around this point in the game, I'm sure you've all seen the videos by now.

4. The Ganglion Depths
This level really tells you that you've reached the end of the game now, you're on the final stretch. It looked good and it had some nice combat and booby traps.

5. The Overlooked Hotel
I almost put Crystal Lake on my list in this spot, but then remembered that some areas are a bit ugly, especially compared to forests in the alpha version of the game, and there's that one room where you get absolutely pepper-potted as soon as the door opens in a cramped space, that same room has problems with elevators at the other end so the designer probably fell asleep for a while, all-in all it does feel unrefined. By comparison, The Overlooked Hotel felt well designed and thought out, except those weird tunnels and the bad use of a mirror murdering the frame rate, but then I don't think there's a single map in Blood which doesn't have some idiotic decisions made on it, therefore I'll simply take the good, of which there is ample amounts here, and try to overlook the bad.

6. Bowels of the Earth
Gloomy underground map, I like mines anyway so this worked for me. Always liked to laugh at how the devs never used the path effects for the cart and instead made the whole map curve, setting it up as a rotating sector instead, strange decision.

7. Spare Parts
A nice industrial level, may be a little disjoint in places or else it could have gotten higher on the list.

8. Dark Carnival
One of Blood's defining levels for sure, yeah it had its shortcomings but it was an overall fun and memorable experience, plus some of the attractions could be interacted with.

9. Cradle to Grave
Yeah, I know, the first level and shit, but what a first level. The top of the tomb slides open and Caleb utters the line "I live again." telling you everything you need to know about the adventure you're embarking on.

10. Click!
Really fun DM map, probably hasn't aged well, but it worked out if you operated as teams. I almost wanted to say The Tower because I have fond memories of it, but objectively it isn't all that well designed and has far less novelty value than Click! does.

Should I write my least favorite? I might do that later.

I kinda wanna see a new/expanded take on a classic Blood level the way Hollywood Holocaust Reloaded did. Actually wasn't there a mod that did just that at least with a few levels?

I once started doing that.. But I abandoned it, like many other maps. Should still have the files back in Finland on one of the old pc' though.

I remade the first level of Blood as a bonus map in my Graveyard project. Maybe thats what you're thinking of?

Nah, I believe I was thinking of this. http://www.moddb.com...gain-rescripted
