As Forge said many of these have had their pictures posted before but for a lot of us I'm sure it's cool to put a face to all these well known members of the community after all this time.

Wait a fucking minute... Where is Vitaliy Bondarenko, who made a map segment in the preview campaign?

But more importantly: since when Corentin joined the team?

This picture of Richard is probably old. Unless I'm being tricked, I think it's from (around) the wedding of Cassie and him.

Corentin has been with us for a while now, even credited in preview. As the reason for page, I don't know. Probably because Vita didn't provide his information on time for the page as a very short time frame was given to everyone.
Vita is still fully credited but IIRC his scheduling didn't really allow for further dev time, which is fair considering the long cycle, so Corentin was brought in during the last few weeks before preview release and was tasked with finishing up those maps.

More behind the scenes stuff? I'll let you guys on a little secret, check out this area in queen of the hill for a message or two
I think it's on the non-beta version as well.

Mostly just reveals a bit on how the trigger system in qoth works, gotta open the map to see the rest really.

For me he looks like he's cracking his knuckles just like Duke:

He's the guest commentator wrestler sitting between mean-jean & jim ross. He's about to jump up into the squared circle and kick some midget butt.

Oasiz and I developed the system together in such a way that it could be almost entirely within mapper control, and allow the creation of new kinds of content with little to no additional CON beyond what is provided. I'm excited for people to be able to make bizarre new kinds of mod-like maps without even having to look at the scripting.

In fact, basically every set piece you see in the preview campaign has no canned code and is entirely using new map effects.

They are game specific effects programmed in the scripting, not part of the EDuke32 source. And yes they will be (and are) documented.

Effect documentation already exists in mapster32, you get a popup that tells you what each parameter does.
It's not a tutorial but more like a cheat sheet on all the functions / flags.
I rarely need anything else these.

Proper tutorials are a thing on their own. That's something I want to assist with / work on when the game is done.

I must be missing something. I downloaded the latest revision. I loaded up Mapster and E1L1 and I don't see anything new. Is there a script I have to run for these new features? Or some new keypress to bring up the options?

I assume he's talking specifically about Ion Maiden.

Still, don't some of the function keys bring up lists of the various sector tags and so on?

Yeah. F7 and F8 when hovering over a sector or sprite. But thats not new.

I don't own IM yet so I don't know if he meant in IM only.

Duke Nukem 1 and 2 style side scroller Ion Maiden/Bombshell companion game coming when?

Right after the one that runs on the Alien Rampage engine, hopefully.

As a matter of fact, I'd seriously love that. Use the same technique to create pre-rendered sprites and stuff for the side scroller (as in the DNF side-scroller prototype) as for the Ion Maiden sprites. 3D Realms still owns that engine, right?

IM doesn't come with mapster (yet).
You can extract the maiden grp file, drop a mapster from the latest snapshot in with it, & look at the maps in 2d mode, but that's about it.

The way I interpreted Oasiz is that the new features are in Mapster now. I just don't see where or how to activate the pop up he mentioned.

No, there are all .m32 scripts that get loaded on boot.

Then what do I need to do to view a "new" pop up?

Those effects only work on Ion Maiden as they are part of the CONS that come with the game, not vanilla Duke.

MB: ... And yes they will be (and are) documented.

Oasiz: Effect documentation already exists in mapster32, you get a popup that tells you what each parameter does.

That lead me to think that Mapster32 already contained what was needed to map in the new features. But evidently it will also require external code. No biggie. Just a miscommunication. I was anxious to see the new features for myself.
