Guess what, I have been spied on since the day I started walking. First my mom, then a fat ugly hag watching the street all day long. She knew everything about anyone. Your typical busybody. What did my mom do and the neighborhood at large? Well, my mom gave her free Watchtower and Awake magazines and others what ever they had.
Well pertaining to the mother, similarities exist, take for instance that the boogieman will get you if you "fill in blank" to keep you in fear, the same as terrorism may get you if you "fill in the blank" ... "muh terrorism" as Hendricks would say.
The old hag, similarities also exist, such as having too much free time and likely a pension or retirement money/widow.. the same as the government(nsa/cse) has too much freetime and too much of YOUR money.
The difference is that the government is no longer or may never have been a maternal figure. I doubt the old hag kept a record of your transactions, sold you a GPS trackable device, felt the need to pump you full of vaccines (which will be increasingly mandated), chemtrail your air, pollute the genus of your flora. Tax you to no end...the list goes on... The old hag probably DID have your best interests at heart. You could always outrun the old hag or go to your room and draw the shades to get away from her.

Super powers like the USA and before Common Wealth, did not need Microsoft or Facebook to spy on the undesirables and suppress them. Is it wrong? Depends on which side you are on. To go back to the above sample, the mothers were quite happy to have a constant watch dog around (this fat ugly hag), the kids learned how to circumvent and hide. - I choose to live in the Americas. I knew the darker side of history of the US and Britain, and also the benefit living in the wealthiest country on this planet, before I settled here.

You realize that this has nothing to do with the Canadian Criminal code. The Canadian Spy Agency was, is and will act above the law, their job is to find enemies of the State, and if you read the entire sequence, Facebook, not Windows was the main assistant in getting an address.

Are you saying it's ok for your government to be above the law? Because of "muh terrorism?"
Let's just get real here for a moment, the west created this "terrorist" threat to accomplish certain goals.
Your freedoms being taken are but 1 of the goals on the agenda.

As for data. If I hang all my personal data in front of a real window, there is a good chance someone will read it. If I place sensitive data on my computer then it is my job to assure that this data does not end in the wrong hands. I have no clue why people are storing their data on third party cloud servers they have no control over, or enter the internet without proper protection. It is very simple to keep private data private. But the so called 95% of the masses have been known to be stupid, for like since history is written. It would be nice for them to use their brain, but just because they have one, does not mean they use it.
Not sure if you've noticed but damn near everything is connected to the internet, everything is dangling infront of the window, whether you choose it or not.
Do banks/Judicial/Police/Insurance/websites/power generation/Gov services use the internet? uh.. yeah.
It's only every other day you hear of something being "hacked" and all kinds of information "stolen."

Back to the topic, so far Windows 10 works, I may even upgrade my old computers as well.

I see no reason to upgrade. Some AI voice and slick "tile" interface which I would disable anyways are not good reasons to upgrade.
I'll be using 95/98/XP on my old old machines and 7 on my capable machines for years to come.
It's the same as cell phone salesmen, you walk by them with your older phone and they ask you what phone you have, you could have bought it yesterday but they'll call it a piece of shit and try to convince you to upgrade.
In my case I usually know more about the hardware than they do and eventually the argument comes down to them saying "because I need money"... lol.
Btw: my Galaxy S2X is the bee's Knees. 4.52" / 16gb internal / Memory card slot / 1.5ghz dual-core snapdragon/ 1gb ram/ 4g / BT 3.0 / NFC capable / Wifi a/b/g/n / 8mp AF w/ flash 1080p video, 2mp front cam / Adreno 220.
Made in 2011.
