If only that was true. But the news is saying they aren't shut down. They've gone bust. There is a difference: gone bust means you're debts are bigger than your assets (including liklihood of making money in the near future) and the bank (or whoever you owe the money to) has had enough of waiting. The only thing that doesn't make sense about this is that 3DR have always cliamed they have no loans - not quite the same thing as having no debts but one sort of implies the other.

Not sure if you're ready to shoulder the burdon Yatta but the future of the 3DR community is now in your hands. that makes no sense to me either... GeorgeB have always said that they owe nothing to anyone and they are self-fundig DNF etc... I guess at some point self-funding was no longer the case and GeorgeB were too confident in "investors" to not raise the alarm earlier.

Hey everyone.

Thanks to Hudson for pointing me here. I hear this is going to be the defacto new home of the Duke3D modding scene with TX heading here so I figured I'd follow suit.

I am as shocked as everyone about this. It's been said before, the trailer and the screens and the more-than-posititve tweets by George and everything, and then just overnight it all being swept away. I think that without a doubt there is more going on here than we know, and as the days and weeks pass I hope that the full story gets out and all the facts get known.

I'll be browsing, good to see some of you guys again. Here's hoping the Duke tight-knit community doesn't fall apart!

I kinda don't buy the "3DR asking Take Two for $5mil" bit. They said on the Shacknews page that they never had any financial relationship with 3DR, so why would they ask Take Two for money in the first place? It just doesn't add up to me. Again, we'll see as the full story unfolds but I'm not so sure on that part.

It could be for several reasons. Notice that Apogee took all the OTHER Duke stuff. This is pure speculation, but I think that DNF was dragging the entire operation down, publishing included. If they just came out and canceled DNF, 3DR wouldn't be worth spit. So they bring back the Apogee name, move all the unbound assets to Apogee, and shut down 3DR. Since Apogee is separate, it does get its reputation tarnished with 3DR. Even though it is still Scott's company.
