I don't know if this is of any use to you but I zoomed in as far as I could and took a screen capture. Its almost 4MB in size so I zipped it up. You would still need to trim away the outside of the triangle before using.

Oh thank you! Yes, I think it could work... will post the t-shirt someday when I'll get around to go to the print shop.
Thans once again!

I think the less questions and pestering, the higher the chances of seeing a lot of cool stuff.

What is the highest resolution we have on the Duke Nukem 3D Cover art/title screen? I mean the absolute crispest version the community has ever come across?

I wish all the betas of duke3d could be released. Lameduke is getting boring.

Any news on the betas or maybe promo material ? I don't wanna bump this old thread but I feel that we could atleast ask if there's something new.

It's been exactly 3 years since this thread was created and I would appreciate if someone explains what's the current status of the betas, since it seems like nothing is happening at all. Before someone says I'm impatient, let me tell you that I can wait for as long as it is needed. But I feel like we deserve a status update about the betas in general. Thanks.

Oh and Happy Easter!

Nothing new happened that wasn't disclosed in this thread, I'm afraid.

My understanding is (and this is completely my opinion and could be wrong) since Gearbox took over Duke in its entirety it's not happening. Not in the same way it was going to anyway. Randy allowed Voidpoint to release some content a little while back but that was it. If I had to guess I'd say that if any more is released it'll be in little bits and spurts like that every once in a while when Randy feels like being charitable. We probably will never see the actual alpha/beta builds, though. Just art. I wonder why nothing of Shadow Warrior has been released however...

Correct me if I'm wrong but i recall someone saying that Devolver was only up to release the beta material in a specific way that Fred or whomever found disagreeable so nothing became of it.

I can't source that because I'm posting from my phone on lunch break but I'm certain it's been discussed at some point.

Can we stop bumping this thread for no fucking reason other than to ask the same question that has been asked (and answered) on literally every single page of this thread?

Why don't you all actually look for things to contribute to this, like unseen beta screenshots found in old gaming magazines, instead of asking "WHERE IS IT?" nonstop?

I'm pretty sure TX and Hendricks have other shit to do and they will get around to the material. It's not like its in the hands of people who are selfish and don't want it out. They are being smart about it because they said it has private material in some files that needs to be removed because it could shine a bad light over some 3DR employees or give out too much info on them.

In other words, the material isn't lost. It's stored securely. Let that sink in to your fucking heads. It's not going to ever be lost, and as with everything regarding Duke, shit takes time.

I'm sick and tired of getting notifications for this thread and it just being people asking "where's the betas" "when will we see more" etc. Please, at least post something useful to pass time. Even post questions regarding the material of the beta like questions about enemy behavior and shit. We've found out a lot of info previously unknown simply by asking actual questions regarding the material, and not just pestering about when we will get to download them and see more shit.

OK, I should probably finally say the following at first.

Thanks to all parties involved in clearing up the availability of various assets and pieces of information! Thinks includes past and present members of 3D Realms, Interceptor Entertainment and Gearbox Software, and of course TerminX and Hendricks266. Truly, while probably originated from a different topic (https://forums.duke4...s-fan-feedback/), it is Frederik Schreiber who originally started this thread and showed a few screenshots, so he clearly has his part.

Now, I might be wrong about this, but I suspect that initially, it wasn't that clear how difficult it can be to release some of these contents, not to talk about whole alpha/beta builds. I'm not talking just about Duke Nukem or Shadow Warrior, but about almost every past 3DR title in general. Reason is that a lot (most?) of these aren't entirely owned by 3D Realms; 3DR is used just as the publisher for them, and this isn't new at all. For instance, I might wrong about this, but I think that Jim Norwood still owns the Bio Menace IP. Of course, there are a few (somewhat) more well-known examples like Commander Keen 1-5, Wolfenstein 3D and Death Rally.

Finally, can I add anything like new information about an old build? Well, maybe not, but...
1. Remember when TerminX showed a hint of a cancelled shareware v1.4 release? https://forums.duke4...068#entry216068
2. Well, I think we actually got a kind of "shareware v1.5" in a way...that's right, for the old Macs.

While the project was in full swing, I uploaded several decrypted, playable, and packaged betas to a 3D Realms-provided SVN repository, and notified them.

Nothing was done.

While I can understand how some people might find it annoying; I think the community showing interest in unshipped duke3d assets is the only way to keep this thing alive. There isn't anything more the community can say besides "Is there anything happening?".

Maybe this has been answered before or not, but it regards to Duke Nukem 64. I remember seeing on the back of one the cartridge boxes a photo of the Stadium level with Duke facing the Cycloid Emperor with a yellow plasma cannon. But in actual it is an orangish color. So does anyone know why they changed it or did it behave differently?

Here's something of actual relevance to this thread: A few years ago when this thread started, it was discovered that there were some builds of Strife in Fred's/Term's/Hendricks' possession that they couldn't do anything with due to the nebulous legal situation surrounding that game.

One of the programmers on the Steam re-release Strife: Veteran Edition is interested in looking at these and claims to be allowed to do so. This is definitely something worth following up on.

All images I have seen of the yellow Plasma Cannon show it doing the exact same things as the final version. I can only guess Duke 3D palette doesn't have good yellow tones (i.e. no transition to black).

By default, we can't do anything with any of the betas without permission from the rightsholders. I simply never approached Night Dive about the Strife beta, or Devolver about SW, and so on. Why?

Hendricks, you jumped a bit prematurely on this. As I've mentioned countless times. You need to consult us (3DR) before sharing any of these assets.

This cannot happen again, as we are spending a lot of resources in preparing great articles, never-before-seen behind the scenes images, screenshots, etc. from the history of the 3DR games and legacy.
I know it's tempting, but it's better to do it right, than do it rushed (Trust us. We know.)

Because of this. 3DR never took any tangible action on this project beyond initially sending us the data.

I'm still planning on tweeting Stephen Kick myself at some point. To everyone: Please do not do this on my behalf.

I guess Fred was trying to reboot the 3dr brand by releasing old duke content along with articles that touch the nestalgia bone of the old fans of the company. I understand the mentality of going down that route, but personally I would have just trickled out builds to the community and focused more time on making new badass content that would have brought back the 3dr brand. That's one of many reasons I'm hoping Voidpoint version of Bombshell sells well, its not only great for Voidpoint but I think it will be good for the 3dr brand as well.

I told them that TerminX and Hendricks266 of Voidpoint (Duke4.net) have the beta materials and they said:

Hey Rob,

We'd definitely be interested in doing so if you want to connect us with the folks that have the materials, provided they want to release them as well. Thanks!

Nigel

What email addresses do you want me to send?
Hendricks, is it more just you who has/wants to contact them?

I figured that related more to your "Steven Kick" thing.
I saw that you said you hadn't contacted Devolver about it so, I took a moment and did just that.

Anyway, I've given them the email you provided me in PM. Please work with them and get the SW betas out there. Thanks man.
