I can't source that because I'm posting from my phone on lunch break but I'm certain it's been discussed at some point.

Why don't you all actually look for things to contribute to this, like unseen beta screenshots found in old gaming magazines, instead of asking "WHERE IS IT?" nonstop?
I'm pretty sure TX and Hendricks have other shit to do and they will get around to the material. It's not like its in the hands of people who are selfish and don't want it out. They are being smart about it because they said it has private material in some files that needs to be removed because it could shine a bad light over some 3DR employees or give out too much info on them.
In other words, the material isn't lost. It's stored securely. Let that sink in to your fucking heads. It's not going to ever be lost, and as with everything regarding Duke, shit takes time.
I'm sick and tired of getting notifications for this thread and it just being people asking "where's the betas" "when will we see more" etc. Please, at least post something useful to pass time. Even post questions regarding the material of the beta like questions about enemy behavior and shit. We've found out a lot of info previously unknown simply by asking actual questions regarding the material, and not just pestering about when we will get to download them and see more shit.

Thanks to all parties involved in clearing up the availability of various assets and pieces of information! Thinks includes past and present members of 3D Realms, Interceptor Entertainment and Gearbox Software, and of course TerminX and Hendricks266. Truly, while probably originated from a different topic (https://forums.duke4...s-fan-feedback/), it is Frederik Schreiber who originally started this thread and showed a few screenshots, so he clearly has his part.
Now, I might be wrong about this, but I suspect that initially, it wasn't that clear how difficult it can be to release some of these contents, not to talk about whole alpha/beta builds. I'm not talking just about Duke Nukem or Shadow Warrior, but about almost every past 3DR title in general. Reason is that a lot (most?) of these aren't entirely owned by 3D Realms; 3DR is used just as the publisher for them, and this isn't new at all. For instance, I might wrong about this, but I think that Jim Norwood still owns the Bio Menace IP. Of course, there are a few (somewhat) more well-known examples like Commander Keen 1-5, Wolfenstein 3D and Death Rally.
Finally, can I add anything like new information about an old build? Well, maybe not, but...
1. Remember when TerminX showed a hint of a cancelled shareware v1.4 release? https://forums.duke4...068#entry216068
2. Well, I think we actually got a kind of "shareware v1.5" in a way...that's right, for the old Macs.

While I can understand how some people might find it annoying; I think the community showing interest in unshipped duke3d assets is the only way to keep this thing alive. There isn't anything more the community can say besides "Is there anything happening?".

One of the programmers on the Steam re-release Strife: Veteran Edition is interested in looking at these and claims to be allowed to do so. This is definitely something worth following up on.

All images I have seen of the yellow Plasma Cannon show it doing the exact same things as the final version. I can only guess Duke 3D palette doesn't have good yellow tones (i.e. no transition to black).

By default, we can't do anything with any of the betas without permission from the rightsholders. I simply never approached Night Dive about the Strife beta, or Devolver about SW, and so on. Why?

This cannot happen again, as we are spending a lot of resources in preparing great articles, never-before-seen behind the scenes images, screenshots, etc. from the history of the 3DR games and legacy.
I know it's tempting, but it's better to do it right, than do it rushed (Trust us. We know.)
Because of this. 3DR never took any tangible action on this project beyond initially sending us the data.

I guess Fred was trying to reboot the 3dr brand by releasing old duke content along with articles that touch the nestalgia bone of the old fans of the company. I understand the mentality of going down that route, but personally I would have just trickled out builds to the community and focused more time on making new badass content that would have brought back the 3dr brand. That's one of many reasons I'm hoping Voidpoint version of Bombshell sells well, its not only great for Voidpoint but I think it will be good for the 3dr brand as well.

We'd definitely be interested in doing so if you want to connect us with the folks that have the materials, provided they want to release them as well. Thanks!

What email addresses do you want me to send?

I saw that you said you hadn't contacted Devolver about it so, I took a moment and did just that.
Anyway, I've given them the email you provided me in PM. Please work with them and get the SW betas out there. Thanks man.
